Zady is launching their spring collection in stages this year, and the latest arrival is tropical wool suiting. It’s rather casual, more suited to a creative office or job than a conservative one, but I love a casual suiting look. The laid-back cut also makes it easier to wear the pieces separately, and more often.
Wool Blazer/suiting
- Wool from Uruguay, sourced “from areas that do not experience flystrike, a devastating condition that has led to harmful animal practices” (I recommend NOT googling flystrike, BTW)
- woven in Italy in a plant that uses a hydro-powered spinning plant, an on-site purification plant and uses only non-toxic dyes
- buttons made from corozo nut, which comes from the Tagua Palm, a tree native to Ecuador, and is sustainable as the nuts are used only after they fall from the trees
- 100% USDA Organic cotton shoulder pads in partnership with Perfect Shoulder, a second generation factory in Mount Vernon, NY
- Sewn in the garment district, NYC
Zady also earlier launched the Japanese organic cotton blouse, which is back in stock after selling out. I love the look very much; it seems like a great length, without being terribly oversized:
- Organic cotton from Izmir, Turkey
- The cotton is then carded, combed, spun and dyed in a GOTS certified mill, also in Izmir, Turkey
- fabric is woven in Nishiwaki, Japan, using the centuries-old Banshu-Ori tradition. “Originally developed for making kimonos, Banshu-Ori intricately weaves together yarn dyed cotton to create soft, subtly textured fabric with splendid color variation”
- Sewn in the garment district, NYC

What do you think about the new Zady collection? Also check out new arrivals from Deadwood, which includes a recycled leather jacket I’m obsessed with, and a pair of organic cotton stone wash jeans, I’m not as crazy about! And a simple raw silk sleeveless blouse by Objects without meaning that would be amazing for spring/summer…AND, use code GRECHEN15 for 15% off your order.
Love the new Zady jacket and pants…if I need to get a “suit,” I will definitely try them out.
And that recycled leather jacket? $280? No wonder it is sold out.
Also, it would not have occurred to me to Google “flystrike” if you hadn’t mentioned it…ugh
i know, i shouldn’t have said anything. but i wanted to understand to understand what it was and why it was important, and i thought if i did, someone else would, and i should warn everyone LOL – it backfired i guess. sorry!!
LOVE that leather jacket. it’s been in and out of stock one or two times already. they have a few more styles on their own website: http://deadwood.se/products/shop/womens-467002 – i’d love one for next fall/winter, but as you know, i cannot buy out of season…
I just bought the Japanese gathered blouse a few minutes ago! It really looks like my “style,” so I’m quite hopeful that it will work out!
oh! let us know how you like it please 🙂
Thanks for introducing me to Zady’s. Can you help me with the sizing? I find SML confusing. I’m a 6, so in Zady’s I should be a M, but in the past year when I’ve ordered my size from other similar companies, it is often too big. And I don’t like tight, so it’s not that. Can you help?
What are you looking at specifically? I’ve only tried pieces from their previous collection…
Their new sustainable collection, as above, particularly their unstructured jacket and pants. Can wear to court, on the airplane, shopping for bicycles, watching the cardinals in my back yard with a cup of whatever……
in pants, I am generally a size 6-8 or medium too. honestly, i’m not used to numeric sizes anymore…but in the elizabeth suzann cecilia pants, I took a size 6. in the zady pants, i’d probably stick with the medium because like almost everything nowadays, they look like they might be sort of slouchy, which would fit me well in my ‘normal’ size. if you’re more straight than i am and also petite, i might recommend sizing down. it’s a hard question for me though, because i don’t have great luck with a lot of pants!! in eileen fisher i’m ALL OVER THE PLACE, and jeans too…
