Zady Essentials Collection .03 | Linen Jersey T-shirt ($45, available NOW + 15% off with code GRECHEN15)
Well, hello. This was a surprise! Zady launched the third edition of their “Essentials Collection” Sunday, the linen jersey t-shirt. And this time, it is a truly global endeavor:
The flax seed in the shirts is grown in Normandy, France and then the flax fibers are brought to Bergamo, Italy where they are dyed, finished and spun into linen yarn. The linen yarn is transported to Barcelos, Portugal where the yarn is knit, producing the linen jersey fabric. At this point, the fabric is brought across the sea to North Carolina where we partnered with Opportunity Threads, a facility that has developed a successful worker-ownership structure with sewers who are highly skilled.
Now, you may or may know that I am a HUGE linen fan. Anything linen, I want it. I don’t own a whole lot of linen right now, but I always love a good linen tee for summer. It’s essential, really.
I do have an Everlane linen tee and honestly, I haven’t loved it as much as I’d hoped. I do wear it at home and to/from Pure Barre, but I much prefer Everlane’s long sleeve version to their short sleeve. The Zady linen jersey tee looks nearly identical to their organic cotton t-shirt (which, interestingly, I have grown to love more than I did at first – it gets softer and softer with every wash) except that it doesn’t have a curved (baseball) hem. It does have tacked sleeves, a small pocket and crew neck.
And now that I know that linen has the lowest carbon footprint of any material, I will have to add more of it to my wardrobe…(CP Shades here I come??)
Zady is sending me one of their new linen shirts to review for you, it should be here later this week. What do you think? Will you try one? (don’t forget to use code GRECHEN15 for 15% off your order at Zady – including the new linen tee!!)
Really nice t-shirt (linen is the best) and glad to hear that you like the cotton one more than at first. Look forward to the review.
Wow, that chart is really interesting! I wore the cotton tee for the second time over the weekend and am really liking it. It washed very well, which is key to my surrounded-by-messy-kids lifestyle. I’m actually wearing the Everlane linen tee at the moment, but I will probably give this one a try, too.
I love the look, so yes! I’ll try it. (Thank you, Zady, for tacked sleeves!)
