D-Ring Dress | $328
Kyo tunic | $328
Organic linen caftan | $218
It’s back…Emerson Fry (rather quietly, or maybe just to me since I haven’t been on social media for a while) launched their spring 2016 collection yesterday, and I’m not surprised at how much I love everything. Click through to see more of the collection, but here are some of my favorite pieces (that d-ring dress!!!!). The Core Bra is back, I own one (Emerson Fry sent me one to review) love it,and can’t recommend it highly enough. I also can’t say enough amazing things about the Emerson slides, they’re a great transition shoe, and essential for summer travel. And how cool is this mesh dress? Imagine the layering possibilities, and how awesome would it be as a slip?
What do you like? What do you have your eye on this season?
I love the D ring dress, Pieces tunic, V back top and sleeveless crew!
I’m coveting that linen star tunic!! And the sleeveless crewneck linen tunic. Both are tempting me! (would be more so if I hadn’t bought the Elizabeth Suzann Georgia Dress last week). How comfy are the slides? I like the look of them, but am a walker and know I won’t wear anything that I can’t comfortably walk in (I’d also love to know how they compare to Everlane’s upcoming slides – but those won’t be released for a while!).
i LOVE the slides so much, and don’t have a problem walking in them. since they’re backless, they might take a little getting used to, and they do “flip” a little, also, since they’re backless, but i’ve heard that you can add an insert to them to prevent that. I’ve worn them to the airport, and beyond, with no problems. i did pull them out to wear just a couple days ago and they gave me a blister on the top of my foot where the edge is, but that always happens in spring/summer as i get my sandals out…
i’m going to try out the everlane ones too, since i sometimes want a slide with a little more coverage, and i also want to see how they compare to emerson fry…
I will look forward to hearing what you think of the Everlane slides! I ordered their street shoe and it wasn’t comfy enough for me, so I am hesitant to try any of their other shoe styles. I’m so glad you are going to try the slides.
i liked the street shoe generally, but found it slipped up in the back too much for me, and when i added a heel insert, that made it too tight in the toes. But during summer months, as my feet are a bit more swollen, they fit much better 😉
That black caftan is gorgeous– even the price isn’t dissuading me. I bought another caftan from one of the recent sales, and I weirdly love it and wear it all the time, so I’m thinking that the new black one might weirdly be a wardrobe workhorse. I’ll probably resist for a while, since $218 is not cheap, but it’s very much on the WANT list.
I love that D-Ring dress, and would probably buy it despite the price if it weren’t dry clean only.
If you ask me, all their products that require dry cleaning don’t really seem to align with the “…minimal impact on our surroundings…” part of their mission statement.
(Side note, if the fabric on that dress is “WASHED silk linen”, why can’t I hand-wash it??)
i’m loving the core bra (still need to check out simulacra, i love how you styled your core bra with the tank), the solar tunic, and the aura dress. i can’t unseen “manos the hands of fate” when i look at the star and nova caftans, so those are a pass for me.
I wasn’t familiar with this brand but I love their clothes & that they are a sustainable , however most items are above my budget?? Do they ever have sales or is there someplace that sells this brand that would?
Oh so gorgeous!! I love all the caftans, that deep sea coloured tunic and the dropped crotch pants (can’t remember the name). I haven’t clicked on shipping or checked the conversion rate – yet!!
Great to hear about a caftan being a workhorse for you. I am most tempted by them here. Is your other one short like this?
i ignore “dry clean” only now, unless it’s on something with embellishment or that i feel might lose it’s shape in the wash. if i do “dry clean”, i do it in my dryer with dryel, but i haven’t done that since i got the laundress wool/cashmere detergent & spray – it works beautifully on those items. i don’t have a lot of silk or anything else that says “dry clean” but if I do, I usually just wash it in cold on delicate and hang to dry.
manufacturers have to use dry clean only to protect themselves, i think, because washing in water CAN change the shape of certain things, and it’s easier for them to just say “dry clean”. plus, people can be careless about washing things, and i know from experience, sometimes i throw stuff in the dryer i didn’t mean to…and they don’t want to be blamed for that.
honestly, i’d contact emerson fry about it, and ask about hand washing certain things and see what they say –
i think those pants are sold out already!! i loved them so much…
they do have good sales/coupons later in the season!
I got the indigo print one at the sale, which ends up being a little below knee-length on me. It’s amazingly flattering and comfortable. Since it’s winter, I wear it around the house, but I also took it on vacation to Bermuda and it was perfect for popping over to breakfast or hanging out on the balcony.
The cut on the new black star one looks similar, but not exactly the same.
Yes that’s it, I think it’s the length that appeals. I imagine it wouldn’t be overwhelming like a long caftan can be.
I’m not sure how I feel about the spring release. It seems like past seasons there were always some more fitted or tailored choices along with the generous silhouettes. I work in an office so my greater need is for garments that can work in a professional environment. My casual life is 2 days a week. In the past I’ve purchased things like the shirt hem dress, many of the amazing coats and jackets like the linen topper (I have 6 EF coats/jackets!), silk blouses, the Viet dress, the sheath dress in abstract print. I’ve got v-pumps and Elvis mules in various colors. All of these are easy to dress up or down so I can use them for work and leisure. This release is all casual, at least for me, and that’s not an area of my wardrobe that needs augmenting. I love some of the pieces but I’m not buying since I don’t need them.
On the dry clean only thing, I think it is safe to ignore it a lot of the time too, the notable exception being rayon. I’ve ruined several rayon pieces gently washing in cold and hanging to dry. Rayon shrinks and becomes mishapen. That’s what kept me from buying the tie up dress from the winter release. I envisioned wearing it a lot and when something is dry clean only, I know I’m not going to.
I am glad others are enjoying this spring release! Great items, just not for me.
I agree — I’m totally bummed about what seems to be a new direction with the Emerson release (and also their last winter release) towards the unstructured/flowing. It reads to me like Eileen Fisher (not a bad thing, but not what I’m into right now). In the past I’ve always bought several pieces from them every season (V dresses, drop shouldered tops, pants) but I haven’t liked much this year. But, glad it is working for others and, hey, saves me money! Maybe they are looking for a new audience?
