Wow. I had an AMAZING weekend!! Did you? I met my sister Friday who was in San Antonio on an Embassy Suites press junket – and I got to be her guest!! We were hosted by the new Embassy Suites hotel on the Riverwalk and the San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau, who took us around on Saturday to all the fabulous museums & sights around the city. Even though I’d been there one time before, I didn’t get to experience San Antonio as fully as I did this trip – It was absolutely beautiful. The Riverwalk was stunning (not the section with all the restaurants) and the architecture was so interesting. I love visiting the Alamo & just enjoying the wide-open Texas sky π
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve already seen these pictures, but most of you don’t (I’m “grechen” if you want to follow me!), so here are some of my favorites from the weekend:
(guess who!)
(my sister)
(remember the alamo?)
(outside the museo alameda)
(longhorn furniture at the witte museum)
(fiesta dress & train at the witte museum – something called “Fiesta” was going on in San Antonio while we were there. I’m ashamed to say I didn’t get a good feel for the history of the event, but the Witte museum has dresses from Fiesta since 1909 that it rotates and displays every year – this one was my favorite)
(san fernando cathedral)
(statue downtown)
(the first course of our dinner at Luke – hosted by the chef John Besh himself π – the restaurant and food was some of the best I’ve ever had)
We didn’t do a lot of just “shopping” although I did hit up the downtown Goodwill and my sister found some long skirts for $2.99 each – and we visited Market Square full of stalls with Mexican artists and shop-owners, but didn’t buy anything…
I loved San Antonio and can’t wait to go back with my fiance – although I’ll definitely wait until Fall/Winter!! It was in the mid-90’s this weekend. HOT!! Have you been to San Antonio? Where was your favorite place?
I’m going to San Antonio this weekend to celebrate my sister Lauren’s 21st birthday and we will be doing a few Fiesta events. We try to get to the parade every year so I’m sure we’ll be there again this year! Since you were over by the Alamo, did you happen to see the Menger hotel? It’s historical and gorgeous and super haunted! My mom worked there when she was in college and said the haunted claims are totally true!
I love exploring San Antonio… I was there recently for the Alamo Bowl, actually. I love exploring the River Walk, I always find something new around there… and you can’t beat the Mexican food!
Bisous,
Rachel
