I’ve made a pact with myself: I don’t need any more clothes/shoes/bags, BUT, if I buy anything in the next few months, it must be a color – no more black, white or gray for me. I have enough “neutral basics,” what I need more of are accent colors. Like any of these:
Coral/Red | Splendid maxi skirt | $108 at Shopbop (remember my bright pink skirt from a couple of years ago? I kick myself everyday for selling it…this will be its replacement, and I WILL NEVER EVER SELL IT)
Pastels | Lizzie Fortunato calla lily pink necklace | $194 at Hampden Clothing after GRECHEN20 code for 20% off
Tangerine | Baggu Tangerine Pouch | $40 at Baggu
Lavender | Repetto Cendrillion flat in Argon | $275 at SSENSE (they’ve changed the name from BB to Cendrillon – I still think you should size up a full size ;))
Cobalt Blue | Loeffler Randall Pouchette | $195 at Loeffler Randall
Hot Pink | TKEES pop color flip flops | $50 at Shopbop (I don’t really wear flip-flops that much, because I forbid my stepson from wearing them when he’s with me during the summer…but when I do, I love my TKEES)
Natural | Swedish Hasbeens lacy sandal | $175 at Swedish Hasbeens (I REALLY REALLY REALLY love these…)
Green | Alexander Wang rocco bag in vine | $875 at Shopbop
What are your favorite spring colors? what color are you looking forward to adding to your wardrobe in the coming months? Do you wear color?
**just got this email from The Outnet: extra 40% off color-pop looks for the weekend. How convenient 😉
Yes, how convenient that you’ve just given up shopping for the next few months (although, “few” is a very subjective term!). I remember the pink skirt well and I was kicking you for getting rid of it, too. 😉 So perfect. This one by Splendid is a close second and would certainly work well within your color scheme. I really like the Swedish Hasbeens…not too high…not too cloggy for me….and I love the color. Oh, and I’ve got the TKEES, but in nude for the “leg lengthening effect” (in flip flops…yeah, sure).
haha! i love nude shoes, even flip-flops, but my husband HATES them. well, he hates all my shoes…but especially “nude” ones, he doesn’t understand why i would want to look like i’m not wearing shoes….
i LOVE the swedish hasbeens, they’re so cute. the cutouts are perfect!
I love all these picks (especially the clogs and LF necklace). Color looks good on you! I will always remember that pretty purple Parker blouse you wore at one of the HGS pop-up shops.

Hi Grechen —
I enjoy your site and check in often (found you via the NY Times this winter). That’s a great looking skirt. Shopbop also has it in navy which I’m tempted to try. However, it’s unlined rayon. Do you think a slip is needed with it?
Thanks for any advice you can offer!
Hi Ally! I had a black rayon skirt from madewell a while ago and never felt like I needed to wear a slip with it. I do tend to wear shape wear a lot with skirts though, so that gives me more coverage.
I don’t think you would *need* a slip, it just depends on how you feel without one…does that make sense?
thanks linda! that was a nice blouse. sold that too 🙁 i just can’t keep color around…
aren’t they gorgeous? and i don’t really even like purple. or lavender. any shade of purple really….but those are beautiful.
Thanks, Grechen! I did buy it. Will probably need it shortened a little, but the navy looks like something I can wear and enjoy most of the year here in Oregon. I checked the video at Shopbop, and the skirt seems to drape and move nicely.
Have a good week!
oh great! please let me know how you like it…i might end up with the navy also!
I love those lavender Repettos as well, I would pair them with a lavender skirt for spring and summer.
