I write about smaller, crossbody bags every summer I think, but there’s a reason for that; they’re lighter, easier and cooler when the weather gets HOT. I’m the first one to admit that I LOVE big bags, the bigger the better, usually, but lately, I’m not loving the shoulder pain that comes with them. And I’ve discovered over the last few days carrying a very small bag, that no, I do not need blister block, vitamins, stain remover and all of the lip glosses EVERY SECOND OF THE DAY. I do sometimes wish I had a nice medium-sized bag – something in between the momo and my Jas M.B. bag – and in a more neutral color. Here’s what I’ve been looking at lately:
1 Alexander Wang Almond croc tri-fold bag | $780 after GRECHEN20 code for 20% off at Hampden Clothing
2 Zara messenger bag | $39 at Zara (this one is definitely a knockoff of other designers’ “paper sack” bags, but it’s cute & fun for a simple outing, not very practical for getting in and out of a lot though)
3 Clare Vivier moyen messenger bag | $276 at Steven Alan
4 J.W. Hulme Mini perforated legacy shoulder bag | $380 at J.W. Hulme (made in the USA – I had this in black in the larger size and sold it – I regret it ALL THE TIME. It was the perfect bag to keep organized, and it held a lot)
5 Leibskind Olbia satchel | $195 at Shopbop (this one, in the slightly darker version, has been in my “hearts” section at Shopbop since it was brand new. I love the pricetag, the color, and the medium-size. There’s also an even darker color at Bloomingdale’s right now for $164 after the FANDF code for 20% off)
6 Milly Felicity crossbody | $168 at Nordstrom
I’ve recently bought a smaller satchel – have’nt had much need for it yet – maybe closer to summer. I like the Alexander Wang – simple but cute.

Paula´s last blog post ..Hey hey it’s Shoesday!!!!
I love that Clare Vivier Moyen bag, but I just wish it had a lining and pockets inside. I hate having to search all over my bag for my phone and keys.
Kimmie, you’re right to be concerned about that. With a small bag, it’s probably no big deal, but I bought the messenger and it’s a PAIN! (although I do receive compliments on it, which continues to feed my attraction to dysfunction 😉
Grechen, what do you mean you don’t NEED all of that stuff??? What if you got a blister, bought a new top and had to change your lipgloss, spilled some coffee on said new top? Quelle horreur!!!
i agree, i just love the shape/style of it, but i could never live without an outside or inside pockets…
you will NEVER believe what happened at dinner last night…i got an oil stain on my ONLY sweater. and DIDN’T have my stain remover with me 😉
i just need a bag that’s a bit larger than the momo for travel situations that can hold a few more “essentials” – the liebskind is REALLY tempting me…
i love the alexander wang – it’s very polished. definitely adds sophistication to any look, but i’m not sure how practical it would be for travel…
Sorry I jinxed you….;-)
