I always love a good slouchy/loose pant for warmer weather. This summer, I’d love to find a nice pair of linen pants (like the Joie ones below or these by Vince), and a slouchy more tapered pair, probably from JP. Here, I’ve divided up my finds into wide-leg pants, and slouchy tapered pants, AKA “track pants”. Oh, and I totally want a pair of harem pants š
Wide leg pants from L to R –
Splendid always drawstring pant | $138 at Piperlime (I have three pairs of the splendid fleece pants and they’ve served me very well in the 5-6 years I’ve had them. I have no doubt these would too)
J Crew sailor pant | $148 at J Crew
Jasmin Shokrian draft no. 17 pants | $506 at La Garconne (these were the pants that started my search – obviously these are WAY too expensive, and silk, so I’ve searched high and low for a good alternative. So far, I haven’t found one…maybe the J crew sailor pants…)
Joie linen Maretta pants | $178 at Shopbop (I love that these are cropped)
Tapered leg pants from L to R –
Crack the whip pant | $78 at Alternative Apparel
Zara slub cotton trousers | $35 at Zara (very good alternative to the JP pants – these might hold me until I lose more weight and can buy a “permanent” pair)
Eileen Fisher harem pants | $178 at Nordstrom (oh, I totally posted these. I’m obsessed)
James Perse knit twill surplus pant | $195 at James Perse (I have a version of these from a couple of years ago that I LOVE LOVE LOVE. They’re much too big on me now – they stretch a lot with wear – but the style is really flattering)
What type of pants do you wear during warmer weather? Do you have a great pair of linen pants? or track pants? Please share your favorites!!
You pretty much read my mind here! Not being much of a shorts person, I am looking for a pair of loose, light pants to run around in. Those Splendid ones are pretty close to what I had in mind but I worry that they look too much like sweatpants- are they a bit linen-y in person?
I am also strangely fascinated by these J. Crew chambray ones-

They are probably tragic– putting an elastic waistband on denim just playing with fire– but I wouldn’t mind trying them on to be sure.
I just got done at H&M where I found an amazing pair of slouchy pants!! Will try to find the link and post when I get home. they’re lightweight and super comfy!! Oh, and $17
i got H&M’s harem pants : http://www.hm.com/us/product/00357?article=00357-D – they’re ridiculously good. we’ll see how well they hold up…
and i like the j crew ones you posted, i almost included them here, i would love to try them on and see how they look.
I wondered if you had seen the Eileen Fisher harem pants! I know how you feel about the brand (just give it time….wait until you’re over 50, you’ll LOVE her!). I was going to send you the link and see if you just laughed! š
Part of me hates wearing pants in the summer because I get so over-heated. But I don’t like the way I look in shorts, so I save those for around the house, and usually go with a sundress, skirt and tee, or a pair of ankle-cropped pants (and then I’m too warm!). I love the look of these pants, but I don’t think looser pants work well on me. I wish…(someone can prove me wrong and I’d be VERY happy!)
OMG> i have a post in the works about EF: “This is what happens when you turn 40 | Eileen Fisher” š
i’ve become obsessed with her lately – clothes, shoes…not all of it is great, some of it is really NOT great, but i see her stuff as a slightly more classic, and yes, older, version of JP or rick owens. and the harem pants KILL me. i’m dying for them, but for now the H&M version will have to do…
Yeah, I can see that. The lines are pretty simple, which I like. And it fits me, which I really like. Pricey for what it is, sometimes. But I always shop sales…and search until I find something good. I hear ya’ about the “NOT great”!
I’m in love Uniqlo’s drape printed pants. They’re both comfy and flattering. http://www.uniqlo.com/us/store/lifewear/women-drape-printed-bottomsflower/076926-03-005#sizeSelect
Love those!! I always forget about uniqlo. How is sizing?
I’m a 32/12 and took a size large. You’d probably want a medium. Also, you can click on the “size chart” link to see the exact measurements of each size. (One of my favorite features at Uniqlo.) FYI, they’re quite high waisted but look great with an untucked tee. Also, some colors (such as the pink star print) run bigger than others. I will be living in these this summer.
I am a bit wary of harem pants but am starting to get it š those h & m ones are definitely chic and don’t take the shape to its extreme, plus you can’t beat that price! I think I may have just talked myself into a pair…
watch this video on the eileen fisher website (down on the page) and i guarantee you’ll be sold on the harem…http://www.eileenfisher.com/EileenFisher/collection.jsp?bmLocale=en_US – i was. i just love how “different” it is. the H&M pants aren’t really harem pants with such a dropped crotch, but they do stretch out a lot, so get pretty slouchy. they’re a good way to try out the idea of a harem without committing to the high price.
Hahaha, GRECHEN! That video totally worked on me and I can’t even say that I went into it with an open mind.
TOLD YOU!!! oh, and check this out: http://www.sweatybetty.com/us/bliss-harem-skirt-prodsb201_stormygrey/ – it finally arrived today, i’ll try to post an outfit picture tomorrow but this skirt is INSANE. I want to wear it forever and ever.
I remember going to the zoo with our girls when they were little, and my dad had to document the whole thing on video, of course. I wore drawstring linen shorts (probably Eileen Fisher or FLAX) and from behind, my *ss looked like 2 hippos fighting in a burlap sack! I don’t know about drawstrings….maybe only at home for comfort!
