Are you that girl? You know, the one who likes to carry her bag instead of sling it over her shoulder? If so, you’re in luck this season. Bazaar has declared that clutches & satchels are “in” for fall (aren’t they always? when do they ever go out??); maybe it’s the ladylike trend that always seems to come back around every fall. Anyway, there are SO MANY good options to choose from, whether you prefer a more structured satchel, or a slouchy one (like the Givenchy pandora. yum.)
I love all kinds of bags, but my favorite style is one that has top handles and a longer strap for versatility. These are the bags I always end up taking on trips (my beloved Jas M.B. wings traveler bags). And while I like having the option of the shorter handles to carry by hand, I hardly ever do – I generally just sling the bags over my shoulder, or less frequently, wear them crossbody.
Right now, I WISH I was that girl who could carry a small bag, and a bag with fuchsia haircalf on it, so I could get that small 3.1 Phillip Lim ryder satchel 🙂 But I’m not, so I will probably end up with the black larger version, which is absolutely gorgeous also…
What do you think of the satchel selection this fall? Will you buy one?

Will I buy one? That’s a silly question, of course I will. 🙂 I would gladly take any of those bags you listed especially the J.Crew Edie and the 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli. I find myself gravitating towards the satchel over most other styles because it’s easy to carry especially when it comes with a long and short strap.
I wish I could carry a small bag but I like to have my Ipad with me and require that most of my bags fit at least that and a few other things. I would make an exception for a Chanel flap though, but that’s not happening anytime soon, lol.
I bought a Cole Haan black barrel satchel with an attached shoulder strap so I could “test out the trend” and see if it worked for me. So far, I haven’t used it because I’m still using my amazing summer bag. But I’m ready now that the chill has settled in. If I like it, I might branch into color!!
haha! i know you will…
i agree with you on the versatility of the satchel – it’s my preferred style, but i do like to have a good hobo & tote also.
and i’m surprised at how much i like that j crew bag!! it’s good.
