I love the look of a silky, light, unstructured jacket over a dress, or with a tank top and jeans in the summertime. Isabel Marant makes THE BEST jackets for summer (not that I own one, yet); they’re playful, lightweight, and usually a little cropped, which I think looks much better with dresses & skirts. I am truly lucky to have found a great Isabel Marant substitute last year at Forever21, but I rarely wear it. I guess I default to sweaters/cardigans/pullovers when I need an extra layer, but I’d love to wear jackets more – they’re just a bit more put-together and slightly more polished than my typical cardigans. Zara makes good high-quality lightweight AND affordable jackets, but I’m DYING for the HELMUT Helmut Lang bomber jacket above.
Do you wear lightweight jackets during warmer weather? Or do you stick to knits or cardigans? Any jackets you’re looking at now?

Are you kidding me? If it’s at all warm outside, I am not wearing a jacket (I can barely keep my clothes on as it is! 😉 ) I am totally enamored of my GAP utility jacket in olive green, and that’s what I usually wear. But I have been known to toss on a lightweight Splendid cardi or an Autumn Cashmere or Minnie Rose cotton one. (I love the Alexander Wang and the Pencey) Oh! And I just got this from QVC in the “fern” shade and LOVE it – It’s actually very similar to the Helmut Lang in the middle with the draped lapels. Don’t judge me…it’s K-Dash (…and I swore up and down that I would NEVER put a dollar in their pockets!
