I hope this isn’t boring you, but I’m really getting into this idea of recording EXACTLY what I’m wearing every day. I’m finding that I’m trying to wear certain things I normally wouldn’t (Everlane silk tank…) and as I do, I’m more aware of how I feel about the item, so I can decide if it’s worth keeping in my wardrobe or not (CP Shades top).
It’s sort of like recording everything you eat for a week…such a powerful tool to see what you’re REALLY eating. (let’s not go there right now though. Ugh) My being deliberate about what I’m wearing and understanding why, is helping me to appreciate what I have even more. Go figure π
So, I think I’ll do a “wearing” post every Friday to capture everything I wore during the week (including the things I took outfit pictures of), and on Monday featuring what I wore over the weekend. Soon, I’ll have my entire wardrobe photographed, and I’ll be able to show you exactly what’s in my closet. Exciting!!
Have you done this? What has it taught you about your style, your wardrobe?
Try it for a week, and see what happens…in fact, if you don’t do this, I challenge you to do it next week, either for the “work week” or including the weekend. Report back on next Friday’s post on how you did, and what you learned. Join me!!
Have a wonderful weekend π
How exciting! The VINCE perforated sneakers come in half sizes! I may have to check these out!! Mostly, this type of shoe only comes in whole sizes (so annoying).
Monica.
Ooh, I was going to take pictures of my dinner for a week, but my outfits sounds more fun π I already do have quite a bit of my wardrobe photographed (if not my item, a photo from the store catalog/website) I use those photos when I do my travel packing list powerpoint/packing capsule wardrobe planning)
I love this! It’s a great idea, and I’m going to take the challenge. Except that it might be a little embarrassing when I realize how many days I stay in my pj’s! π
I was wondering what to do about the weekend π Maybe I can hide those photos under other items…..
I really enjoy these posts. I love how cohesive your wardrobe looks.
My obsessive side wants to be like this but I like variety and weird prints too much to get rid of all that. π I try to take a photograph of myself each day to document what I wear but that is the extent of my method. This can be misleading sometimes becomes occasionally something looks much better in the photo than in real life, or vice versa, but it’s useful to me to track which items are getting worn and how I combined items.
just found your site and am loving it. I have been writing down what I wear during the work week for years, no pictures, it helps so much in picking out things to wear each night for the next day. I can scroll back through my notebook and check out what I wore in years past during the same time/season or I can look for inspiration in different mixing/matching ideas!
Nordstrom Rack and T.J. Maxx are the best for marked-down Vince! How are you keeping track of your wardrobe, by the way – are you using an app for this or just taking photos of everything and making a collage of what you wear? I have thought of doing this as well.
yes! i’m so glad i’m doing this now…helps a lot π
