Yummm…chunky knits…I always want to buy all the chunky sweaters I see come Fall; they look like something I’d want to wear all the time. But I will admit, I don’t own a lot of heavier knits for fear of adding bulk; if I do buy something, I usually prefer a sweater with a belt so I can at least define my waist and give myself a shape. I also love the idea of pairing chunky knits with slim bottoms, like leggings, straight leg jeans, or even a pencil skirt.
Check out our super-fabulous Polyvore-Stylist Madeline Rhode’s sets below featuring some of her favorite chunky knits…of course my favorite is the more expensive outfit 😉
Stella McCartney cardigan, $1,285
Old Navy sweater, $28
Forever21 sweater, $20
Wool and the Gang outerwear, $315
Endless.com flats, $57
Here’s what Madeline has to say about her picks:
I love knowing that here at Grechens Closet, comfort is as important
as style… after all, how can you feel stylish and confident if
you’re not feeling awesome in an outfit?I am so excited to explore this trend, which is not only totally,
awesomely comfortable, but also shouldn’t be tough to figure out since
it’s most likely been in your wardrobe for years… (drum roll…)
presenting: chunky knits… or shall we say, “SUPER chunky knits”!?Here is a chunky vest look and a chunky full sweater look at two
different price points.. Can you guess which one you’ll save a pretty
penny on?My main suggestion is that if you are going for a super chunky knit
look, to keep the rest of the outfit as close to your body as possible
by wearing a fitted trouser, legging, or slightly flared jean. For more inspiration on how to sport these chunky knits, look to lines
like Nanette Lepore, Julien Macdonald and Luca Luca. I feel cozy just
thinking about it!
I LOVE chunky sweaters! I usually buy them a size too big or from the guys section because I love comfy baggy sweaters. 🙂

Some of the best chunky sweaters I have discovered were in a goodwill or thrift shop! The best part is that they were all designer and I never spent more than $4. Can you believe that!?
After washing them thoroughly (being careful not to shrink them!), they became my favorite, snuggly, pieces.
