I was watching What Not to Wear recently where Stacy & Clinton scolded the participant for having too many cardigans – I think it was 15 – and of course the first thing I thought to my self was “too many cardigans? is there such a thing?” After the show was over, I went to my closet to count my cardigans, already knowing I have more than 15, and ended up with about 25. Whoa. That’s a lot of cardigans! But I need EACH AND EVERY one of them.
By far, I’m most loyal to Inhabit NY for cardigans: I have 4 of the essential cotton cardigans and 4 cashmere cardigans (different styles & none are available anymore). I also love my Splendid very-light jersey draped cardigan (get it for 20% off at Piperlime today only! – use code ME), and my T by Alexander Wang draped back cardigan. Really, though, I love all my cardigans – they’re all appropriate for different situations & weather conditions – my wardrobe would not be complete without them.
I love cardigans drape-y, tied in the front, open all the way, cropped, 3/4 sleeves, long…you name it, I’ll take it. Here are some of my favorite cardigans available online now (how insane is the MMM cardigan/outfit? LOVE IT!!):
Zara cardigan | $29.90
white Three Dots cardigan | $105
printed BB Dakota cardigan | $84
Maison Martin Margiela cardigan | $535
What do you think? is there such a thing as too many cardigans? What are your favorite cardigans? How often do you wear one?
*psst! Inhabit NY is on Gilt today and there are a few cotton cardigans for around $100.
Well, for starters I have four cotton Inhabit cardigans and one in cashmere. Then, hmmmm…….maybe 10 others. And I wear them well five to six days a week. Cardigans are casual but mature. They are cozy but can be light. I love them. And I’m not ashamed of this. LOL. Even though I love Stacey and Clinton.
It’s impossible to have too many cardigans unless you actually run out of space in the closet. I have an embarrassingly large number. I wear them year-round. In summer to protect me from the South’s fierce AC, in winter, because it’s winter.
totally agree with you! i always have one with me in my purse because of the AC also – especially at whole foods!
Yours are so cool, tho. Stacy and Clinton obviously don’t know you, Grechen!
