Thanks to a tip-off from unruly things, I’m now obsessed with UGGLEBO clogs. But I’m also confused. This pair is basically the same as the Sven & No6 clogs I’ve featured before:
The upper is essentially identical to No6, and similar to Sven. Now that I’m convinced that Sven makes No6 clogs thanks to the comments of several readers, do they make UGGLEBO too? But when we say that Sven “makes” No6 clogs, what does that mean? I guess I didn’t think much about it, but now that I do, maybe it only means that they make the wooden sole? That makes total sense to me (Sven provides the wooden bottom, and subsequent manufacturers customize the clog with their own uppers), what doesn’t make sense is that a manufacturer would make the same pair of clogs to be sold under (at least) three different brand names.
To make matters worse, I can’t find out any information online – whenever I search for Sven + No6 or some such combination, I end up right back here on Grechen’s Closet 😉
But back to the UGGLEBO clogs…
This pair is on sale for $95:
My sister loves clogs, but I’ve always considered them a big style don’t. These are surprisingly cute, though!
Most clothing and shoe manufacturers make numerous brands all under the same roof. I’ve seen denim factories on TV where they’ll make LOTS of major brands using the same equipment and such, but just with different “brand customizing” looks. Realistically, most expensive items are only that expensive because of the brand name, not the manufacturing technique or the materials used.
Very long story but my wife is the original Sven’s granddaughter. check out the about us section of the site and it will give you some history. Many of the retro 70’s styles are made by two or three companies.
We really appreciate the interest and please do let us know if we can help. [email protected]

The site says that Sven was Ugglebo’s founder.

i’ve owned both sven and no. 6, and the main thing going for no. 6 is that the heels are less chunky/clunky, which makes them look more modern and sleek. but it’s true, sven makes no. 6 clogs. when i ordered my buckle ankle boots from no. 6, they arrived directly from sven. i actually find no. 6 clogs (not the boots) to run really narrow compared to sven.
ugglebo’s offerings look cuter and less dowdy than sven. some of the styles are virtually the same, so it’s hard to decide which to order. now if only i could do a custom order with the weave front plus a back strap on a lower heel than no. 6s!
erica – i bet you could do a custom order!! e-mail dave and ask him – he’s very helpful 🙂
i haven’t tried sven, but you KNOW i love my no6’s – but i think my next pair will be ugglebo. i love some of the styles, and the prices are great.
I have a pair of New in Box No 6 5″ buckle boots I am selling on Craigslist if anyone is interested!
