A final summer of linen outfit…featuring my new Amour Vert linen tee: I received it last week, and wore it all weekend. Of course, I’ve already washed it because I got a few “spots” on it while living/cooking/working, and didn’t notice any shrinkage at all (DO NOT DRY LINEN TEES, they will shrink).
I love a good linen tee. In fact I had one several years ago by Joie (similar version) that I literally wore to death (and accidentally dried, so it became a baby tee…) and have been searching for a more sustainable/made in the US replacement ever since. I do love the Zady linen tee also, but NOT the style (neckline, sleeves…).
This is a great tee, and ultimately, given all the linen tees I’ve tried, I find that they’re pretty much all the same: slightly slubbed, soft, drapey, sheer. The only difference between any of them is style. And finishing. To be honest, this tee seems to be finished rather flimsily, but I’ll reserve final judgement on that until next summer. So far, it’s worn/washed very well, and didn’t lose shape at all.
A note on the shoes: I had credit at Shopbop (I earn credit every month for displaying their widget on my sites) so decided to bite the bullet and order these Rachel Comey clogs to replace the Eileen Fisher clogs I had to return (the ones I bought originally as a cheaper alternative to these Rachel Comey clogs…). The shoes are beautiful, but I wanted to be absolutely sure I loved them, and would wear them before I decided to keep them, so I wore them for several days at home. The footbed is molded in an “orthopedic” style, which is similar to Birkenstock footbeds, but it’s wood, so HARDER. This took a lot of getting used to, and I really didn’t think I would at first, but I did. And as all Rachel Comey shoes, they are super light, and ultimately very comfortable.
The biggest issue for these is that they’re patent leather, so “sticky” on your foot, which isn’t great for 100 degree heat. My solution to this is moleskine attached to the inside of the shoe where it touches my foot. That’s something I wish Rachel Comey had thought of though…but perhaps that’s too much to ask? Good question…
Thoughts on linen tees? Do you have one you love?
Great pics! I love the way your hair looks “flirty” and casual….with movement. And those shoes are SO stinkin’ cute! I love the look, but hard would never work for me. And no, I don’t think it’s too much to ask that a SHOE designer might think of how a shoe actually FEELS on one’s foot!!! Rachel Comey can and should do better.
My J Crew linen tee accidentally got “laundry-napped” by my husband and put in the dryer, so it now fits my 3-yr old granddaughter. 😉
Love those Rachel Comey slides on you!…..especially the stud detail. Adds a special something. Is your Amour Vert discount code still active? Thinking about getting the Pearl cardigan. The only linen tee I have is by Majestic, a French line I love. There’s a little cotton added which gives it some shape but doesn’t compromise linen’s lovely drape.
the 20% code isn’t valid, but if you use my referral link you’ll get a $25 credit on your first purchase: http://fbuy.me/d8vP0
i like majestic too, but have never bought anything – try it on frequently when i run across it at nordstrom 😉
yes. that is what happens to linen tees…your granddaughter is so lucky though 😉 haha…
i actually find hard soles (clogs) really comfortable to walk/stand in. not on uneven surfaces, but i’ve always liked a stiff sole.
thanks for the love! Love your blog, xx linda
you’re welcome linda! Can’t wait to try more from amour vert 🙂
