So. After my mini-meltdown yesterday about the outfit I was going to wear, this is what I REALLY wore. And to be honest, I STILL didn’t feel much like “me.” I was just having a day, I think. One of those days…
I did get out to see my friend at Rag & Bone though, and in spite of myself, tried on a couple pairs of jeans. And guess what? I am HEAD OVER HEELS in love with the Justine wide leg style (and this Camden long sleeve tee…). I tried on the size 29 and they fit, but would be too big after wearing a while, so if I got them, I’d size down to a 28. But, I’m not sure they’ll work on me anyway, because I think hemming them for my short legs (even for my Rachel Comey wedges) would change the leg so much they wouldn’t be the same.
It’s what always happens, and HAS happened with so many pairs of jeans I’ve loved at first: I take them to be hemmed, and the look completely changes once they’ve cut so much off, unless the leg is a true straight-leg.
The rise on these jeans is SO HIGH (11 inches!), and honestly, I didn’t try sitting down in them, so I’m not even sure I could, but I sort of liked the higher rise combined with the wide leg. Anyway, I may or may not get them next week (Saks starts their F&F next week BTW – actually, thanks to Jen, who mentioned that they’re offering early access with code FRNFAM2 – and it doesn’t seem to apply to sale items) and take them to the tailor to see what she things about hemming them before I decide to keep them. I don’t know. I’ve had wide-leg jeans before that I loved, but didn’t end up wearing very often – mainly because you pretty much HAVE to wear heels with them, especially if you have super-short legs like me.

I do also like this looser wide-leg Rag & Bone style, which I may also try. I think I just need to take the plunge and order several pairs of jeans to try on at home that I can’t find in stores – and see what works and what doesn’t. In the interest of research of course. I can’t keep them all!
Are there any particular styles you’d be interested in my trying?
Happy Friday, hope you have a wonderful weekend!!!
FYI, Saks has early access for the F&F sale starting today: FRNFAM2
huh. where’s my email ??? 😉
it doesn’t apply to sale items, or at least rag & bone/JEAN sale items. so they must have just marked them down…
I think Rag & Bone is excluded from F&F unfortunately—they did the last time around. Other sale items (like James Perse!) were eligible when I shopped this morning.
the main line is excluded, but rag & bone/jean should be included. weird.
i’m thinking about ordering the JP linen pants in majoram. in size 3. just to see if they’ll fit. i’d love a pair of linen pants…but i think i’ll have nordstrom price match them so i can take them back to a store…
You should try Goldsign jeans. I’ve been told they are awesome! snort snort snicker!
This “not shopping” thing is killing me! Actually, I’ve done very well….until yesterday. Nighttime is my downfall, and I ordered a black/white striped tee from J Crew at 30% off (In my defense, Kim France featured it on her blog and it just looked so ME. And, it’s stripes! ) I got a new lip crayon from Lipstick Queen with free shipping…LOVE her stuff!! Plus a white popover top from GAP at 40% off….someone named Grechen with an awesome blog featured THAT temptation. 😉
