So today the Nordstrom Sale goes live to the public (you don’t have to be a Nordstrom cardmember to buy…) – in case you’ve managed to miss all the hype until now. I received my order yesterday, and am pretty happy with it.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY love the Natori feathers bra. I ordered my “normal” bra size now, which is 34b and find that it fits perfectly. Sizing advice says to size up in cup size, and my friend who has this bra echos that, but I couldn’t have sized up. Of course, I may be wrong, and my size may in fact be 34a? I don’t know, except that it’s a beautiful bra and seems to be comfortable. As soon as I put it on, I wanted to immediately order another one, as is my way, but I will resist until I wear it the first time. (I’ve made that mistake too many times!!)
I also like the Alo strappy sports bra, and I ordered a small. It’s really cute, and seems to be comfortable. I haven’t worn it yet though.
I didn’t like the Natori feathers hipsters I ordered in medium. They were too small at my hips and lower than I like. I LOVE the Hanky Panky retro thong (I have another pair).
Finally, I liked the Alo mesh tank but the medium was too big for me. I don’t think I’ll exchange it for smaller; I don’t really need it, I think I just wanted to try it and see if I loved it. I didn’t.
I did try these Beyond Yoga high-waist leggings on in my Pure Barre studio the other day and LOVE LOVE LOVE them, so I’ll order a pair while they’re on sale. (well, scratch that, the purple has sold out in medium since I wrote this. ugh.)
Otherwise, I’m not shopping the sale again, I’m finished. This isn’t a huge sale for me though, except for bras, panties, and activewear – I suck at buying out of season!!
What did you order from the Nordstrom sale if you already shopped it? What did you love and what are you sending back? If you haven’t shopped it yet, do you plan to? What are you buying?
Also, the James Perse summer sale ends this weekend (Sunday).
There are still some good things left on sale:
Low Back skinny dress | $159
Cotton linen cardigan | $199
Knit Mesh top | $89
Cashmere ribbed sweater | $159
What did you think of what you ordered from James Perse?
Happy weekend 🙂
I don’t have a Nordstrom card and haven’t ever felt the need to get one. Contemplating some loafers at the Sale but I’ve been experiencing my first bout of plantar fasciatis so I’m very wary of buying new shoes right now. But I love some of the loafers on offer right now, with the slight platforms.
On the other hand, it’s crazy hot here now (like everywhere) so I just bought a bunch of linen things on clearance at Neiman Marcus ; -) including one of the Eileen Fisher linen duster/cardigans I’ve been eyeing for a couple months. I never could find one to try on so it might be too long – we’ll see. Also got a big shirt – Sue (Une Femme)’s travel packing list might have gotten to me 🙂 Order should arrive on Monday so I’ll see if I like what’s in there. (also bought some linen from JJill – I have some of their stuff I’ve thrifted and it holds up really well; hoping the new stuff is the same quality)
There was an Eileen Fisher silk jersey tank I really wanted to buy but I actually removed it from my cart because I recognize the color was too light for me (aqua – I’m much better in a turquoise). That’s personal growth 🙂
I hardly ever find anything fabulous at Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale, but I certainly try. I have a store within a mile from my house (dangerous!) so I always shop during the first day or two for credit card holders. It’s great because I have the privilege of seeing items for real and trying everything on. Even so, whatever I buy I usually end up returning because I soon discover I don’t actually love it…the price swayed me too much. However, basics and athletic wear are things I often pick up. My newly adapted shopping criteria is about need, love and quality, so I’m trying to be more discriminating. Anyway, I’d rather have something from a boutique or independent designer than a department store. A recently purchased garment I do love is the James Perse Raglan Sleeve dress that you told us about, Grechen. I wear it every day: first thing in the morning before I get dressed, and the last thing for evening lounging. An absolute favorite!
Hi there. Have you worn your feathers bra? How comfortable do you think it is? I want to buy one before the sale ends, but I am concerned about whether the material is soft. It looks like the straps/backing might be rough because they’re lacy, so I was wondering what you thought of it so far.
Thank you!
Christine
yes, i’ve worn it a couple of times. i found it pretty soft, but honestly didn’t think about that at all – or notice it, so maybe that’s a good thing?
i actually ordered two different sizes also to try because i love the bra so much, but feel like the 34 is a bit snug at the band for me…
Ok, thank you! If it were scratchy, I imagine you would’ve noticed 🙂 That’s interesting. So 34 is your normal band size, but it feels a bit tight? Maybe I’ll size up band-wise, then… I live in Brooklyn, so I can’t pop in to the store (we don’t have one in the city yet), which is not ideal when it comes to buying bras. Sigh. But I’m thinking I will just order two sizes and, if need be, I can return one or both of them.
