James Perse cotton/cashmere striped dress | $265 at James Perse
I am not immune to the call of fall. Especially since it got relatively cold here over the weekend (down to the mid-50’s actually!). I loved it, and sort of hated it at the same time LOL – as I may have mentioned, I have a very small range of temperatures where I’m comfortable, and that does not include below 60 degrees! Kidding. Sort of. But while I’m ready for colder weather, I’m not necessarily ready for cashmere yet…
Anyway, while I was getting dressed for cooler weather this weekend, I used the opportunity to really think about what I want to add to my wardrobe this fall. What was I missing? What did I want to wear, but don’t have? I truly don’t need anything, but there are definitely some things I can replace with newer ‘versions’ (and that fit me…) and some ‘holes’ I’d like to fill.
They are:
1 Long, black blazer/jacket : done, got this James Perse blazer
2 Long gray skirt/dress : tried, don’t want anymore
3 Cheap run-around oversized boyfriend jeans
4 Black Loafers
5 Chunky oversized sweater : done, got this Madewell sweater
6 Black cardigan/sweater
I’ll go one-by-one π
Long black blazer
I don’t own a black blazer. I know. It’s one of the 10 things EVERY WOMAN MUST OWN, didn’t you know? And I don’t own one. I’d like to have one though, but not a traditional work-wear type blazer, one that’s more casual, fleece perhaps? I do like the LOOK of a more structured, polished blazer, but knowing my lifestyle and what I actually WEAR, I’d never wear it. I would wear a fleece jacket/blazer though, in fact, I had a DarylK/Barney’s Co-Op collab fleece blazer from 2004 that I LIVED IN until it got too small for me. And I’ve had James Perse jackets here and there.
I do also have a HELMUT Helmut Lang asymmetrical zip jacket from fall 2012 that I love, but haven’t worn as much as I would have liked. It fits nicely now, and I really do like it, but it’s short on one side, and every time I put it on, I wish it was longer…So, I ended up with the James Perse hooded blazer. I haven’t worn it yet, because just as soon as it cooled off, it warmed up again, but I wanted to get it now and tick this off my list. And yes, I will be purging the Helmut Lang jacket, because I don’t need both…
Long gray skirt/dress
Since most of my tops/sweaters are black, and I wanted to add a black sweater & cardigan this fall, I wanted a long gray dress/skirt to layer with black. As soon as I saw the cotton/cashmere dress & skirt at James Perse I knew I would end up with one of those. And I did; the maxi skirt. It is AMAZING. So good, not perfect, because there’s no such thing, but if there was it would be. It’s not for me though. The gray is pretty light, the skirt is meant to be fitted (it’s what makes it so great), and the cotton/cashmere is nice and soft and stretchy, which leads to being able to see all my bits & bumps through the skirt. My knees especially. Hard to notice unless you’re in the right light, but I definitely noticed it, and decided to take the skirt back.
And since I’ve put black skirts/dresses on my DO NOT BUY list, I couldn’t exchange it for the black one. But man…I wanted to. I still want to. I am DRAWN to that skirt, because like I said, we gravitate towards the “comfort” pieces, and end up with too many of them. I know I would live in that skirt (the black one does a better job of camouflaging bumps), but I don’t need it. It would be just one more thing. Unless I could get rid of a few other long skirts/dresses in my closet to make up for adding that one. And I don’t think I want to do that. So, I’m over a desire for a long gray dress/skirt – I don’t need one; I’m happy sticking with black on the bottom LOL.
A note on the JP cotton/cashmere dress – I wanted this to work also, but it’s a strange length on me, and I didn’t like the gray. But again, it’s a phenomenal dress. The JP cotton/cashmere blend is HEAVENLY, and has just the right amount of give/stretch without going over.
Straight-leg boyfriend jeans
I can’t help it. I still want a pair of truly oversized boyfriend jeans that fit my thick legs. I love my Frame Le Garcon jeans and my Rag & Bone jeans, but I still really want a more oversized pair with straighter legs. So I went to try on the Sexy Boyfriend at the Gap, where they were on sale for $29 (!!) and loved them. But I don’t have the budget for them this month, so I didn’t get them. I loved the patch front jeans, but they’re not on sale online, I don’t understand?
Black loafers
I have sort of decided I don’t need/want these anymore, but I’ll hold off until I see the Everlane ones (assuming they come in black). I have a pair of taupe/nude Dieppa Restreppo loafers which I absolutely LOVE, and sometimes wish they were black, but I’m okay with what I have for now.
Chunky oversized sweater
I have a couple of oversized cashmere sweaters by Inhabit from several years ago that I like, but they are truly oversized, in that they’re too big for me now. I want oversized, but not SO oversized, know what I mean? – especially in the arms. The ones I have now are just too large on me at this point, and really swallow me. I can manage with them, but since I had to return the chambray top from Madewell, I decided to try and exchange it for one of their new sweaters.
I ended up with the tracklist sweater in a nice military green color (I don’t have a sweater that color), and I’m quite pleased with it. While I was shopping for sweaters, I also tried this one by Vince on, which is absolutely INSANE. I mean…so cozy and fits really nicely, and perfectly oversized, but I’m happy with the Madewell sweater. And since it was an exchange, I wasn’t out of pocket any more money.
And yeah. That James Perse cashmere sweater I’m wearing above with the striped dress is pretty great. Except the price. And that it doesn’t have pockets. But do you see the sleeves? They’re ribbed and tapered toward the wrist so they’re not huge and open like the cashmere cardigan I have (I’m always rolling the sleeves up to get them out of the way). Such a wonderful cardigan, really, but not for $795. Especially since it doesn’t have pockets…I’m thinking it will end up on sale…
Black thick cardigan and/or sweater
Ah…amazingly enough, I don’t have many black sweaters that I like. I have a lightweight Splendid cashmere/cotton cardigan, a long Lululemon cardigan, and a VKOO cashmere pullover, but that’s it. I do always wish I had a heavier black cardigan for wearing with jeans or leggings in place of a jacket or coat (we can get away with that here in Texas!). I tried on a few by Vince since I was near a store, and loved this shawl collar cardigan the best. I had thought I wanted this Vince circle cardigan, but it’s sort of meh…not interesting enough, and didn’t seem worth the price. The shawl collar one though, was nice and thick, warm, and draped nicely. It sort of just falls since it’s heavy enough, which is really what I want.
When Shopbop does their next coupon code (I’m counting on the end of September/early October), I’ll get the Vince one I think. I also would love to have a nice, cashmere draped black pullover, but it’s not a priority right now; I have a wonderful gray VKOO one that’s a few years old that I’ll work with for a while.
I’m going to break down my thought process a little more in another post, maybe a Minimal Closet post, because this got rather long! But suffice it to say that I’ve surprised myself with how little I really want this year. I have wonderful things, and I’m happy with them, overall, I just wish some were smaller and fit me better, and those are the things I’m trying to find replacements for. I do plan to purge more as well, as I really understand what works for me NOW and what doesn’t given the impending change in the weather.
Below are the things I tried on, and my commentary about them.
[show_boutique_widget id=”164044″]
*a note on my budget:
Since I had a couple of very good months, Leo and I budgeted that I could have $500 to spend on my wardrobe. This is in addition to my $200 personal discretionary budget every month and the $200 credit I get from Shopbop every month. I don’t spend any of my personal discretionary budget on clothes, because I use it on beauty products, haircut & color, Dagny, books, random stuff. Anyway, I don’t want to use it on clothes. So basically most of the time the only way I’m able to purchase clothing/accessories/shoes is with my Shopbop credit. I do have quite a bit saved up though, waiting for that next coupon code!!
I spent some of my $500 on the James Perse blazer. And if I decide to purge some of my black skirts/dresses, I may replace them with the long cotton/cashmere skirt by James Perse, but I’m not sure yet…
What have you bought for fall?
Love this summary! The James Perse Blazer link doesn’t work, would you repost, I need to see!
should be fixed!! sorry π lmk if it’s not…
You look amazing in that dress!
thank you!! i really loved it…but i’m not buying any more stripes, OR fitted JP dresses!! two strikes π
You DO look GREAT in that dress! But I am fully supportive of your “Do Not Buy” list so will not encourage you.
It’s funny how if you wait a bit, things on your list can drop off. I was sure I wanted a pair of black booties, but it doesn’t really feel cool enough here yet to wear them, and I really like the new black loafers I got, so feel an urgent need for them. If I come across a pair that I love in the next few months, great, but it’s not a mission.
I was also convinced that I wanted a flared black skirt. I tried on some, and also realized that I rarely wear skirts (especially shorter ones without tights), so why bother? Took it off the list and feel ok.
I also had a gray tweed blazer and a gray sweater on my list. I stumbled across a fantastic Vince gray sweater / jacket that looked great and will get more wear. It’s on my list when it goes on sale, if I still want it.
And, after thinking that I can’t wear turtlenecks, I tried on a couple of dolman / “boyfriend” fit ones, and loved them. So one of them replaced the button-front silk shirt on my list. And I admitted that it’s so hard to find button-front shirts that fit and flatter me and don’t end up feeling fussy that maybe I should just add them to my “Do not buy” list after all.
Also–have also noticed that pretty much anything I paid for with a credit card (even if I plan to pay it off in the same month) instead of cash ends up being an “impulse” purchase. Somehow it seems more elastic if I charge it rather than pay cash, and what I’m really willing to part with my cash for ends up being less than otherwise.
ha..thanks jen π
yes, i’ve discovered that also recently. and i love how i’m starting to get comfortable with just loving what i have, instead of having something new, that i perceive to be “perfect”. some things, i really just need to replace because of size or fit issues, but others, I don’t. and i realize that now, where before, i just wanted to buy new stuff all the time…
and YES with you on the credit card thing. although i haven’t used a credit card in many years, when i did, i always felt like it was “free” money for a while…and of course, it was not. now, i find a difference even when i use my debit card vs. cash. when i take out my “personal” money in cash at the beginning of the month vs. use my debit card, i have a MUCH harder time spending it. sometimes i even have some left over. when i use my debit card, it’s harder to keep track of, and gets right down to the wire! plus, cash is tactile…and we can see it in our wallets, not wanting to part with it…
i love turtlenecks, especially the new drapey dolman sleeve ones! glad you tried one π
I had completely stopped using credit cards (not entirely by my own choice), and then started getting store cards again as part of rebuilding my credit. Even if I pay them off each month, I still notice that I will tend to buy from one of those stores first rather than going elsewhere, and end up compromising sometimes on my purchase choice, so I need to put those away. And I was in a pretty bad binge purchase / binge return cycle earlier this year which is more easily facilitated by credit cards than paying in cash, which wasted a LOT of time that I’ve now stopped.
You look fabulous in that dress!!
Monica.

New follower and very grateful to have found your blog. I have also been looking for a heavier black sweater which will be perfect for a Phoenix winter (brief as it is). I love the Vince shawl collar cardigan you found! I will check it out. Thank you. I also need some comfortable black loafers. Any suggestions?
Welcome Virginia!! definitely look at that vince sweater, it was very nice, and i liked that it was heavier, so it fell, instead of “draped” if that makes sense. it sort of gave it a more sturdy feel, which is what i want right now; i have enough drapey sweaters…
i really love my dieppa restrepo loafers (in black here at totokaelo) and find them to be very comfortable and true to size. mine are taupe suede and i’ve had them for a few years; they’ve held up nicely. i LOVE this pair by vince, although they’re more of a slipper than a loafer…i don’t have them yet, but i’ve felt them and they seem like they’d be incredibly comfortable.
other than that, i don’t have any other suggestions. maybe someone else will chime in?
i think this calls for an ISO black loafers post though…
Thanks so much Grechen!
Both of those choices are great, especially the Vince pair. Beautiful! I love that you might have a future topic of discussion. I have not bought a loafer type shoe in a long time and find myself with numerous ballet flats (feet hurt after a day at work) and sandals which are not very appropriate for work or cooler weather. I stay away from heels for daytime and that limits a lot of choices.
I too have an abundance of drapey sweaters/cardigans and need something more substantial. Your description of the Vince sweater is perfect.
Thanks for helping me really look at my closet and see what I really need to be more comfortable when the weather turns cooler.
it sounds like we are looking for some similar items to round out our wardrobes! I am wondering if you could share what sizes you are now wearing in James Perse? And did you find the Madewell Tracklist Sweater to be long enough to cover your butt (to wear with legging jeans)?
And finally, I just purchased the Helmut Lang Villus Jacket, and I am wondering how you have found yours to hold up to wear and wash or dry cleaning?
Oops one more question. Do you have (or have you tried on) this James Perse Wrap Skirt? I am wondering if it is double-layered (and therefore less likely to show lumps) and how the sizing runs. I usually wear a 29 in AG Jeans, for instance, but I have found size 2 dresses in James Perse to be way too tight through the hips, but I’m worried a 3 would be too big in the waist. I would love your advice!

I just started working on my fall wardrobe, and am identifying the holes in my closet. The biggest hole I have now is bottoms. I really need a couple more skirts and another pair of pants. Now that I finally found ones that I really like (I got them in gray!!) I will probably get another pair in dark blue. I really love the organized approach to buying that you’ve taken. While I’m not ready to jump on the minimal train, I do take your advice to heart about how to add to your wardrobe in a meaningful way, instead of just buying stuff without knowing if it has a place in your closet. Oh, and that striped dress looks AMAZING on you!! I don’t usually comment on other women’s bodies, but yours is BANGING in that dress!!
Cathy BenavidesΒ΄s last blog post ..Plus Size Shopping β New Stuff and Things
lol. thanks cathy π
yay for gray pants!! think of it this way, less clothes, means more owl stuff. am i right??
YES that skirt is SO GOOD, held EVERYTHING in. but a little short for me – i’m a size 29, size 2 usually and i tried the size 2 in that skirt. i would get the size 2, but then again, i’ve always tried to err on the side of smaller in JP since i really want it to suck me in. in this case though, i didn’t feel like the 2 was small at all…
first, the helmut lang jacket. i have dry cleaned it (with dryel in the dryer) a few times and it’s held up okay, but it does pill, especially where it’s rubbed against things, and under the arms where my arms rub against my torso. not really bad, but noticeable. i think the villus is different than mine though – maybe a little thicker and softer. not sure how that will effect the pilling though.
the madewell sweater is long enough, but just barely (i got a medium). i mean, it comes to the bottom, definitely, but i’m not sure i’d wear it with leggings. legging JEANS, probably, but i’d probably layer it over a long tank top with leggings.
james perse – i’m generally a size 2. i wear size 2 in most everything lately. but. i got the jacket in a size 3 because it seemed to run pretty small in the hips/torso.
i tried the fleece dress on in a 3, and it fit nicely. same length on me as the sweatshirt dress in a size 2.
the striped dress i’m wearing in this post is a size 2, it’s pretty snug; i might have bought a 3 if i was going to buy it. which i’m not. π
i tried on a cashmere sweater in a size 2 and it was PERFECT. fit beautifully, even with a little drape in the back. sleeves were perfect, arms perfect…neckline perfect…but the size 2 was not as long on me as on the model. to get that, i probably would have had to go a size up.
the cotton/cashmere pieces i would take a size 2 so they’re fitted, but they’ll still stretch a bit.
the big cashmere cardigan i’m wearing with the dress is a size 0, which i think fits perfectly.
i’ll actually try and put some outfits together with the pieces i got (including the tracklist sweater) on friday so you can see them. if you have any other questions about other pieces i may not have mentioned, just ask π hope that helps!!
The vince shoes are so soft and lovely in person! i have such a hard time with fall/winter shoes, because i’d rather live in my birkenstocks…and i don’t really love boots/booties on me, so there’s not much in between, besides loafers and sneakers. i do have several pairs of repetto ballet flats that i love, but when it’s REALLY cold, they leave a little something to be desired!!
glad i could help you a little bit! i do hope you’ll stick around and let me know what you end up with!!
Thanks so much!! With regard to the Madewell sweater, I am getting so frustrated that all I want are tunic sweaters and everything seems to be the length you describe–ALMOST long enough but not quite. I’m only 5’4″ so I would think it would be easier to find long sweaters and tops that will cover my butt! π I guess it doesn’t help that I am smaller on top, bigger on bottom, so to size down to fit my top I usually lose a little length, too. I love that JP Cashmere sweater in your photo but yeah that price is insane! I hope it goes on sale to a reasonable price.
Thanks, I ordered the size 2. I hope it fits and that I like it!
i think you would be happy with the madewell sweater, it’s probably longer than i’m remembering…but if you can wait until friday, i’ll get an outfit up, i promise π
i’m about 5’3″ though…other than that…TWINS…story of my life, sizing to fit my hips, and ending up too big up top…
yeah, that JP sweater is crazy good. but i told the SAs to tell james that for that price, it needs pockets.
I’m chiming in on the black loafer conversation. I just saw some great ones (the Michael loafer) by Repetto at Gimme Shoes. The leather is really soft – seems like it would mold to your foot. Fun finishes too!
Have you tried sweaters and pants by the Swedish brand Hope? I have the over sweater which is a heavy cotton knit and the low trousers. I really want the was trousers but like you, I’m holding back from buying the same thing over and over again. They have an amazing chunky turtleneck called the grand sweater, which I owned last year but gave away because I can’t do turtlenecks. (I don’t like anything on my neck, including scarves unless it’s 30 degrees outside) La GarΓ§on carries them and it’s one of my favorite brands. The fit of their pants are super flattering and comfortable. I would buying a few more pairs if I lived in the city. I recently moved to a rural area so I don’t need anymore nice clothes. I constantly have to read your minimalist closet series to stop myself from doing any online purchases!
oh..good one. i’m a bit of a repetto fanatic, and have wanted the michael loafer forever…i’ll add that to the roundup π
thanks alexa!
i love hope!! i have the news trousers, and although they’re too big on me, i think they’re still okay…they’re meant to be sort of big anyway. i haven’t tried the low trousers, how do they fit?
and i’ve been obsessed with that sweater forever! although i’ve never really seriously considered it; i think it would swallow me. but i love hope’s very minimal aesthetic. their plain leather totes were was first drew me to the brand…
I think you would like the was trousers. The low trousers are harem style, super low crotch hence the name. The was trousers are a mix between the low and news trousers – longer rise than the news but not as long as the low with a slim fit at the legs. http://hope-sthlm.com/was-trouser-black-4
There’s also this one that looks like a slimmer version of the grand sweater but with a mohair blend.
http://hope-sthlm.com/philly-sweater-black-5
And of course the ‘updated’ grand sweater in 100% heavy cotton
http://hope-sthlm.com/marine-sweater-dk-grey-5?___SID=U
I would love one of those if only they make it more like the over sweater I currently own. Crew neck with buttons along the back and the same slouchy oversized fit. I did find the grand sweater a big overwhelming as well and I bought it in the smallest size. I’m almost 5’7 with a small frame and it was huge on me. The models wear size EU 36-38. They must have broad shoulders and much taller.
that sweater…ugh. i love it so much, and i really want one with mohair but every time i get one, i can’t stand it because of the shedding. i love the texture though, and the idea…like the oversized acne cardigans – but i know i would be miserable.
but this “art” dress?? KILLING ME. i’m going to have to stalk it until it goes on sale. and save my pennies.
love the was trouser, but i’m pretty sure i have reached my critical mass for slouchy trousers/pants. and i’m very happy with the news trousers, since they’re big on me, they’re pretty slouchy, but still pulled together i think. and of course i love my EF harem pants. i need to stick with those for a while π
The art dress looks nice but not into the 79% acetate. Can’t do slinky synthetic material.
i didn’t even look at the fabric content! but that made me interested in what’s the difference between acetate and rayon…can’t seem to get a really good answer, but found this link interesting. they’re both cellulose fibers, but seems as though acetate is more chemically processed?
LOL if I bring one more owl thing into this house, I’m pretty sure the fiance will murder me and bury me with all of it……

GREAT report! I’ve been dying to find the “perfect” black shawl collar cardigan ever since my favourite one of 5 years finally bit the dust last winter. I wore it to death. I was very interested in the Vince chevron one you mentioned (actually in the grey colour, which looks more like ivory on-line), but there was a review on Nordstrom saying that it’s “scratchy”, so I was turned off. However, you’ve given me new hope…!
In the meantime, I’ve ordered the Sculptor Cardigan from Madewell which has intrigued me since I first saw it. This kind of shape is hit or miss on me, but I think it’s definitely worth a try (even though I have to wait until November, as it’s currently backordered).
Cardigan link: https://www.madewell.com/madewell_category/SWEATERS/cardigans/PRDOVR~A9472/A9472.jsp
oh!! do let me know how you like that madewell cardigan, i’d been looking at that one too…although november is a long way away!!
i saw that review on nordstrom for the vince sweater – i did not find it scratchy at all, but then again, i just tried it on a couple of times in the store. I was wearing a short sleeve shirt, so i would have been able to feel it. and i’m VERY Sensitive to scratchy fabric around my neck and didn’t have any problem with it there either…
Sure, I’ll definitely post an update on the Madewell cardigan. Fingers crossed that it ships earlier than the backordered date π
I guess reviews are subjective, and influenced by expectations. I will see if I can try the Vince sweater on in person – thanks for the review!
Oh, and I too am excited for the Everlane loafers…!
I almost choked on my coffee in my striped coffee cup when the first picture up was one of you looking magnificent in a curve-loving dress! Don’t toy with my striped emotions, Grechen! π
And I’m loving that Madewell sweater with the zippers, although, I have to ask, why not black or grey? Curious….
You’ve put up a lot of great options, so I’m going to have to do some more research (If I call it research, it doesn’t sound like I’m shopping…I’m going to try it out on my hubby this week!) sounds like you did your own version of research!
you do NOT have a striped coffee cup!!! but you probably do π and that’s awesome!!
going to answer your question about color in today’s post…
actually a friend saw it in the store recently – it was in the back, on a rack (not out on the floor yet) and she said it was AMAZING. she knew immediately that i’d love it – because she loves it, and we love the same things…you might try and call a store and see if you can get it earlier?
Excellent points, Grechen and Jen! I find that even if I don’t use a credit card, and use my debit card instead, it’s still easy to go overboard. But how do you handle that with online orders, Grechen? You can’t just give them a fistful of cash!
And Jen, you’re so right about store cards: those sneaky devils know that we’ll spend with them if we have available credit! And we end up with things we’re really not crazy about. Thanks for the food for thought…
Ugh…that updated Grand sweater! And I don’t need it, plus, I’d overheat in a second! But it sure is “perfect”! ( Admit it, Grechen, it’s pretty damned close! π )
Adding this to my “maybe” list. Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like I can sit on this decision for long. But you’ve taught me that there’s always another [blank] out there!
I don’t, actually. π
But it would be very “nautical,” wouldn’t it? Nah, too matchy-matchy.
oh. i’m disappointed!! π
yes. it is definitely close!!
i use my debit card online; i just stick to my budget! easy right now, since i really don’t have a budget for clothes shopping, besides what i get at shopbop…
I never considered myself a Minimal Closet person but, in hindsight, that’s exactly what I am. I’m a minimalist in that when I shop, I’m selective. I buy fewer, high ticket items, and I keep them forever. You want a timeless black blazer? I recommend Theory. I have both black and navy blue Theory blazers that I wear with everything, 9 months of the year. In my opinion, Theory’s price point is reasonable given the tailoring. Buy one of their blazers on the smaller side, roll up the cuffs, and throw on a pair of jeans. They shrink your arms and cinch your waist. You will look like a million bucks.
I love that outfit with the striped dress and the grey cardigan, but yikes, the price point on the cardigan! An interesting black cardigan has been on my list for a couple years and I just can’t find one. The Vince cardigan looks like exactly what I want stylistically, but too heavy for what I need now that I live in Southern California. There just aren’t enough days where it stays cool all day long for heavy sweaters and jackets here, so you end up carrying around your sweater too much of the time if its not light weight and that’s a pain. Plus it means that your outfit has to work without the cardigan layer, which I sometimes find hard to pull off. I count on the cardigan layer to keep my arms covered during meetings and things. So I’m still searching for the perfect cardigan.
Meanwhile, Eileen Fisher has two (or three) jackets that I’m in love with this season. But I haven’t let myself pull the trigger, for the same reason as above. I only need a jacket for the 30 minute commute to work, and then into the closet it goes.
LOVE this one, including the color (I’m super pale and have naturally auburn-y hair): http://tinyurl.com/lbtog4h
Also this one, because it’s so elegant and versatile: http://tinyurl.com/pjjxayg
Maybe I need to move to a colder climate because Fall clothes are always my favorite?
thanks nellie – i thought about a theory blazer, but it’s too much for my super-casual lifestyle. i know that doesn’t seem to make much sense, but i would never wear it as much or as often as i’d wear a more “casual” blazer like the JP one i got….
Hello,
I forgot to tick the “notify me of followup comments” box, so I’m behind on this thread…!
I was in Portland this weekend, so I got a chance to try on the cardigan, and purchase it on promo as well (I just cancelled my order) I LOVED it, but I will say that the batwing sleeves are a bit of a different feel for me to get used to. But I did sit down on the dressing room chair, and pretending that I was using a computer (to mimic my work life!), and even though the arms are a bit more restricted than a typical sweater, it was still comfy. I tried on the M/L, but ended up sizing down to the XS/S. I’m not usually that size, but I think for me, it was more of a height thing, as I’m only 5″3ish. The smaller size was still spacious and cozy, whereas the M/L just seemed like too much fabric (although not terrible).
Mamavalveeta, I was in a couple of different Madewell stores this weekend, and the cardigan did fly out the door – I’m sure the promo helped it go, although I would have paid full price. But I don’t want to arouse any feelings of FOMO – you’re right, there’s always “another”!
Thanks for the Madewell cardi update, R! I’ve decided to wait since I’ve purchased enough lately. But you’re SO right? There’s always another.
