Perhaps all the trouble with my James Perse order is the universe’s way of telling me that I should stick to my resolution #4 NOT TO BUY MORE STUFF. It’s not working. (it doesn’t seem to be working for Tina either. sorry) Maybe my resolution should be to simply embrace my need to shop and use it for good…oh, wait…
While I was browsing the sale section at Net-a-porter the other day, I sneaked a peek at some of the new arrivals and am now OBSESSED with this Juicy Couture dress – among other things:
Vanessa Bruno bag: $840. Totally out of range, but I did mention that I wanted a camel-colored bag, right? Although I think I said suede…
Juicy Couture maxi dress: $380. *sigh* oh how I love this dress!! And I don’t normally like off the shoulder dresses or the like, but this one is PERFECTION. Waiting for it to show up on Shopbop and for them to have a code 😉
DKNY sandals: these are $130 (good price, no?) and look to be pretty versatile, although I wish they were nude.
MMM rings: $370. this is a set of four rings – BRILLIANT – because you can wear them like a four-finger ring, but have the movement required to actually do stuff with your fingers…
And thanks to Nanashi, I’ve been debating getting one of these Jerome Dreyfuss bags from Heist (the last time I wrote about the Billy bag, I said I should just save up for one..)
(if these videos don’t make you want to buy one of Jerome’s bags I don’t know what will. SO CUTE. Isabel is one lucky lady!)
AND…thanks to my lovely SA at Barney’s Co-Op, I’m completely obsessed with this Sissi Rossi bag – it is the perfect black hobo bag. And until she tried it on for me, I didn’t even know I needed the perfect black hobo bag…
I DID sell my Alexander Wang Rocco duffel…so technically, I need a bag to replace it, no??
Question is, which one??
🙂
Ooooh…that is the perfect black hobo! I’m going to be bad and tell you to break #4…It’s rare when you can find a black bag THAT good…
joyce!!!! you’re not supposed to enable me!!!!!!!
but you’re right. 😉
That Billy bag is truly gorgeous. The straps and outside pocket are so unique! I would love a bag like that.
When the net-a-porter sale came out, I found myself browsing and browsing trying to figure out what I could buy instead of looking for what I needed. The DKNY slides are fantastic! I can see you rocking those. Patience, Grechen, patience. Stick with DON’T BUY MORE STUFF until the sale comes!
i do exactly the same thing!!! look for stuff i can buy, not for stuff i need…it’s a sickness.
i usually resist, but boy, do i LOVE to buy 🙂
the video of Jerome’s back is awesome (and now I really want the commes des garcons play black sweater that he’s flashing).
I can’t help browsing around either . . i guess it is ingrained in us (read somewhere that it’s passed down from the hunter-gatherer days and my friend told me that’s bull, but I think it’s kinda true no?)
Sissi Rossi is nice too, i see them on Yoox sale quite often so you might want to keep an eye out on that. but i vote for Jerome. (well but it is not suede . . )
i was thinking the same thing about his sweater!! i’ve been wanting one for years…
i DEFINITELY think it’s true – shopping/browsing isn’t just a hobby, or something you just “pick up.” it’s ingrained in us genetically. at least that’s my story 😉
sorry about the sweater – i’m thinking mine will have to go back too…
are jerome dreyfuss’ bags really well made? i’ve read some mixed reviews on TPF and other websites. do you have your billy bag? i remember you rocking it in quite a few outfit pics last year!
You CAN stick to rule#4!!!! I have a very similar resolution, though I am allowing myself to thrift and vintage shop and get new shoes as long as they are on sale…and guess what? I haven’t bought any new clothes but did buy TWO pairs of very marked-down shoes! Arg! Maybe next year I will really save some money…
Laurel
i did have a billy bag, but i sold it. it was just too big for me to use regularly. i didn’t have a problem with the quality though, and i’ve had two different JD styles.
The usual, regular ol’ me would say get the “Billy” since it’s basic saddle brown, etc. But the new, “go for something exciting to pop your wardrobe” me says pick the “Larry” and go for the color! (oh, and old or not, I love the Inhabit sweater!).
For shame, Grechen!!! It hasn’t even been a full week into the new year, lol. 🙂
I know how hard it is to resist the call of the sale, I’m browsing websites a million times a day and see so much cute stuff, but am trying to think about whether whatever I am drooling over at the moment is truly worth my money or not. I think if you gasp when you see it, start planning outfits around it before you even put it in your cart and the funds are in your wallet, then get it.
P.S. Those are some lovely Jerome Dreyfus bags!! I love the color of the Billy, but really like the shape of that Larry.
ah, ok. btw, i just saw the videos too and they’re SO cute. lol that has got to be the cutest thing i’ve seen on a designer website…more designers should be this goofy and creative!
