since I’ve been posting my favorite online sample sales every day, I wonder: do you guys shop the online sample sales? which sites are your favorites? do you find the prices to be great, or not so good?
so…

when all these sites first popped up, I wasn’t interested. and whenever I did try to purchase something, everything miraculously sold out. it was so frustrating, I didn’t want to have anything to do with any of them for a while. then james perse popped up somewhere, and I managed to successfully check out, then I was hooked. I only check the sales for designers I know I already like, but generally I find the prices to be pretty good (but you have to be careful, sometimes the original price is inflated and the deals aren’t that great) and other than having to pay shipping, I’ve had great experiences on both Gilt and Rue La La.
What about you? leave a comment!!
Same here, I generally look for the designers that I am familiar with. Only tried Gilt and RueLaLa so far, the competition sometimes feels insane though . . . few days ago Lutz & Patmos was on gilt, I was there at 9pm sharp and in a second the navy and white stripe boatneck sweater was gone (I was mad and glad simultaneously, because it was still not too cheap).

that’s what irks me about those sites, sometimes you can be on time and stuff still sells out! or it gets sold out of your cart. i’ve tried the add everything in my size to my cart then decide what to buy strategy, but it’s just too much work LOL
i’ve had a mixed experience at gilt – i think the “hidden fine print” of sample sale sites such as gilt where things you put in your shopping cart can get poached due to the inner workings of their online system can be irritating. that, and unless i’m purchasing accessories or things that don’t require trying on, i find that it doesn’t make much sense to be pressured into making a discounted – though still pricey – impulse buy.

that’s why they’re dangerous for me…i can’t implement my 24 hr. waiting period LOL! so far i’ve been happy with my purchases, and most of the time i try not to buy anything unless i have credit to cover it (or most of it!)
ah you are so wise!!! I never thought of that, but even if I did it I am not sure if I can decide in 10minutes

I’ve had good experiences with Gilt: good selection of designers, good customer service, fast shipping. I have definitely ordered from them the most. Purchases I’ve made with ideeli and ruelala took forever to ship, but I guess it depends on the manufacturer. Although I’ve stalked them forever, I haven’t bought anything from Potrero or Hautelook. Hautelook has some awesome Rachel Pally sales, but since I’m in CA, the tax (almost 10%)+shipping is murder. Both RueLaLa and Gilt have great Cass shapewear sales, and it is virtually impossible to find better deals on Cass elsewhere.
