I cannot possibly be any more addicted to a designer than I am to James Perse. Seriously. Search for James Perse here on Grechen’s Closet – you’ll see what I mean! I own 17 James Perse pieces at the moment, and narrowly avoided buying another one I didn’t need today…
I feel like I KNOW my James Perse, so how did I NOT know that you could purchase online through their own site? Granted, the selection is much the same as what you would find on other sites, but they do have some things I haven’t seen anywhere else. Like this skirt, which I NEED:
And, I could be mistaken, but I don’t think I’ve seen this dress anywhere either (I also need this):
Why do I love James Perse so? Let me count the reasons…no, really, mostly, I love James Perse because I know I can count on everything I buy to HOLD ITS SHAPE over time and WEAR WELL. Yes, these are that important to me. And I am totally willing to pay full price for any piece. I have a couple of basic cotton tees that are more than 4 years old that still look brand new. I don’t even HAVE any other designer’s or store’s tees that old, because they’ve all fallen apart (GAP are you listening??), or totally lost their shape. They are perfect for layering and always available in the best colors.
What do I have in my closet?
One Stretch Turtleneck in Black
One Longsleeve Deep V
Two longsleeve Vintage V-Neck’s – one blue, one black (these actually run a little large in my opinion, I would size down one size)
One Short Sleeve vintage v-neck in grey
Two maxi dresses – one navy, one black
One Cami dress – from MANY years alo
One Tube dress – also from MANY years ago
One long tie-back skirt – DITTO ^
Three long sleeve jewel crew neck’s one white, one rust, one grey
Three long tanks – one pink, one white, and one black
One new short sleeve crew in white
Two OLD basic crew necks in white – one short sleeve, one long sleeve
Two basic black tees – one v-neck, one crew neck
One Black button down Top
Hmm..looks like I need to revisit my original total – I own 22 James Perse pieces. And I love EVERY one 🙂
(in case you’re interested, there are more places to buy James Perse online)
I recently bought the black stretch turtleneck on sale at Saks.com (about $30), and I wore it for the first time yesterday. I love it! It is so comfortable that it felt like I wasn’t wearing anything, yet it kept me warm. This is the first turtleneck I’ve ever worn that was not dorky or uncomfortable.
I really enjoy your site, and it has completely changed the way I shop.
Before I found your site, the only clothing I ever bought online was T-shirts from Threadless.com. I probably spent more than $300 on these shirts over the past four years, so now my wardrobe is saturated with them. They’re comfortable and cute for high school / college age kids, and they might be okay in grad school, but once I’m about 26 or 27 I probably won’t wear them anymore. (I’m 21 now.)
Since I found your site, I’ve purchased some really nice basics that I hope will last for more than 2-3 years. And I’ve stopped buying the Threadless shirts that probably make me look like I’m in high school. You have successfully converted a Threadless addict into a possible James Perse addict 🙂
i’m sure i have that turtleneck too!! i love it, it’s so soft, and feels like you have nothing on. but i love all james perse 🙂
get ready – i’m launching an EXCITING giveaway with james perse starting monday, may 4…stay tuned and find out how to win!!!!
