Have you been waiting for the Nordstrom Anniversary sale? If you’ve been with me for long, you know this isn’t a sale I shop very well; I prefer to buy in season with coupon codes. I just can’t bring myself to choose boots or a winter coat when it’s 100 degrees outside. But if you can, this is when and where to do it…Nordstrom has marked down NEW fall/winter items for a short period of time so you can be ready early. If you’re a cardholder you can shop now by confirming your information online – otherwise you can shop the sale when it starts for the public on the 17th.
I do usually buy a bra and some panties during this sale, and maybe workout wear, or jeans, since those things are seasonless. Last year I bought these Natori bikinis (which I love for basic panties) and this year, I’m going to pick up a Natori feathers bra (I tried one on recently and loved the fit) and some shape wear. Maybe a pair of these Onzie leggings…and I’m going to have a look at that Eileen Fisher silk sleeveless top and maybe try on some boots. Thank goodness I don’t have the Nordstrom credit card!! (I have the debit card and not enough $$ to go big right now…)
I always shop this sale in person anyway, just to play around with sweaters and jackets and dream of cooler weather, so I’ll be there this morning to try things on and will report back with my input on items and sizing, etc. If you do the same, let us know what you thought in the comments.

I already blew up my Nordie’s card this morning. The shoes were a bit of a let down but I got some nice wide leg trousers for work, bras, basic tees, etc. The coup was the Bony Levy diamond eternity band. I’ve been lusting after that for a loooong time now, and to see it marked down 30% or whatever was all I needed. Plus I made it a personal triple points day. Which means I’ll have to revisit the sale after work to see if there’s anything I missed. 😉

I tagged along with my mom last night (she had early-early access) and picked up those Paul Green booties – super flattering on and will be amazing with boyfriend jeans in fall. If you like AGL flats, they have a super cute one with a cap toe and chain detailing in navy (my fave). I also stocked up on Kiehls Creme de Corps body lotion, some room fragrances that I got last year and are fab, Zella workout pants and some undies. I typically over buy at this sale and end up returning almost everything so it’s better for me to focus on BASICS only and a few special shoes 🙂
i’ve never tried AGL, but i was admiring a pair of sandals today. of course they weren’t on sale 😉
i made it out without buying anything. for now. i’m thinking about a couple of things though!
Maybe a pair of jeans–the Joe’s “Flawless Icon” flares. And maybe a new bra. That’s it. I’m heavily into seeing how little clothing I really need right now. And saving money for other things. We’ll see how long it lasts. 😉
Good picks! Hey Grechen, about those undies, do they have a panty line that shows through fitted trousers or jeans? I have a terrible time finding underwear that don’t have this awful line across my rear, even in jeans. Everybody I know swears by those hanky panky thong undies and I tried them but I just can’t get used to them – I still feel like I have a wedgie all day long and it’s just not comfortable for me. I don’t know how people do thongs of any kind. Any suggestions appreciated – I’m at a point where I’m thinking commando is the only option!
i don’t wear the natori panties with jeans, unless they’re really loose and slouchy, because they do make a line across my rear…they have a boyshort that’s worth a try, though, that i’ve had in the past, and i seem to remember it not doing that.
speaking of commando though 😉 – you could try the commando thongs if you don’t like HP. i haven’t tried them, but they’re not lace, so they might be easier to deal with?
in general, i can only do thongs under jeans, leggings, and tight skirts/dresses where they’re held in place, if that makes sense. if they get a chance to shift or whatever, i’m uncomfortable.
