I bet you never thought you’d see a post about sequins here on Grechen’s Closet. To tell you the truth, I never thought I’d write a post on sequins, but lately, I’ve been longing to add more pretty, fun, and yes, possibly embellished, pieces to my wardrobe, and let’s face it, sequins are having a moment. I love the trend towards darker, more subtle sequined pieces, like the IRO bomber jacket and the Three Dots sweatshirt, but I also can’t resist that Viktor and Rolf dress or Ella Moss cardigan. No. I don’t have a lot of occasions that call for sequins, but with these pieces, almost any dinner, night out with the girls, or party would be a fitting place to display my “sparkly” side.
And I’d even wear the Three Dots or J Crew sweatshirts with ripped jeans and loafers for an afternoon of shopping or that Mila Hermanovski (she has ALWAYS been my favorite Project Runway contestant. Along with Gretchen of course) tunic/dress with leggings and booties for traveling. Sequins are definitely ALWAYS appropriate for holiday parties, of which I’m sure you have many coming up…

What do you think? do you have any sequined pieces you rely on for parties? What about “casual” sequined pieces? Are you thinking of adding one to your wardrobe this season?
