I’m pretty sure I know what you guys are going to say, but you have to know I love these Rag & Bone/JEAN Pajama Jeans!! I don’t love the price, so I’m hoping they’ll go on sale relatively soon (although I doubt it), or that I forget about them eventually (highly doubtful, since I’ve been thinking about them non-stop for two days).
In a way, they’re brilliant, because they’re the “look” of jeans, but a sweatpant, so theoretically more comfortable, but nowadays, a good boyfriend jean is pretty comfortable, and probably looks a bit more pulled together than trompe l’oeil denim-on-sweatpant. But let’s face it, they’re also just a little bit lazy 😉
What do you think? are they ridiculous? or awesome??
I love Rag & Bone, I love your site, but these are a huge no for me. And not the kind of no that I’ll come around to them in six months.
You’ve seen these, right?

I don’t like the jump-on-the-bandwagon Internet style hating (can you believe someone would pay XXX for fancy sweatpants!!! or harem pants are the devil’s spawn!) but this I can’t defend.
yes, i’ve seen those pajama jeans and THEY are ridiculous. but that’s only because they’re not rag & bone LOL – i KNOW that if they weren’t rag & bone, i’d totally think they’re ridiculous. i think they’re both actually, ridiculous AND awesome. but no, i won’t be getting them, even though i want to 😉
and LOL to harem pants are the devil’s spawn. i think i’ve actually seen that on some sites!!
I’ve tried them on. They are awesome. The digital print is amazing and they truly look like jeans. They are also incredibly soft. But I am 5’10 and I feel like there is pulling in the middle area. Also the band at the bottom was snug on my calf and I am slender. Also there are no belt loops or drawstring, meaning you want them snug so they don’t stretch and fall off but they look better slouchy. And they do feel thin. But they are beautiful and I think they’ll go on sale. And I felt they ran small. I am normally a 27 and I took a medium.
thanks irena 🙂 thank goodness someone else likes them LOL
your review has made me question how good they’d be on me though. perhaps i’ll go and find a place to try them on. just to see. so i’ll know whether to get them WHEN they go on sale.
I saw them at Saks, Intermix and Bloomingdales. You’re welcome 🙂 if it makes you feel better I’m going to get a medium when it goes on sale.
So let’s take a minute to do the math here: we all know the model is a size 0 and those pants make her look like a 6. If I’m a size 8 I will look like a 14! Not the look I want, especially at $300! And I’m sorry, but no woman over the age of 25 should wear anything resembling sweatpants out in public. (Just for the record, I’m 45 so I have earned the right to say this).
To quote Sam I Am: “I would not, could not…” I love Rag & Bone but not this item. I’ve never liked sweatpants, even though these are a dressed up version.
I’m with you Irena and Gretchen. I think they are awesome. Kinda silly/comical but still awesome. I was given a really cheap pair as a gag gift (which I would never wear out) and think they are a great concept. I wouldn’t pay that much money for them, but I like when people have fun with fashion. I would probably stop someone on the street who was wearing these and give them a kudos.
Huge no for me. Sloppy and unflattering. I don’t get this at all.
you know, i probably would too. stop someone wearing them, that is. but i do that a lot – it’s kind of creepy 😉
here’s the thing: they’re not flattering (they’re not supposed to be) and they’re certainly not appropriate for work (or maybe much else besides lounging or hanging out on the weekend), but so what? i’m over wearing what i’m “supposed” to for my body and my age. i wear what i like, and i think that’s the way it should be….
Um no thanks on these. I am interested in white boyfriend jeans for the summer!
I tried them on with a shirt blazer and high heels. My office is casual so I could totally wear them to work 🙂
Truthfully everyone has a right to wear whatever they choose and what they are comfortable in. I also believe what you project says much about how you value yourself. The whole premise of that TV show What Not to Wear was changing the ” I will wear whatever the heck I want because I like it and I don’t care what you think” attitude. Sorry, but I lost all respect for Rag and Bone because of these pants! Is that really how they think women should look?
of course, i should have qualified that 🙂
i would wear them to work if work was creative and very casual, but i’m sure a lot of people would still think it was inappropriate. work wear seems to be a sensitive topic a lot of places…
I really want you to go see them irl now because in person you can’t tell they’re sweats. I wish the fit was better and I would wear them to my office lol. But I am a girl who just wore Current Elliott leopard sweat pants to the office with a jacket and combat boots lol.
I must have these!!! I think they’re awesome. This 40 year old will be rocking these!
Cute, they look like jeans, and that would be my biggest hurdle. No, correction: Price is the biggest hurdle. I’m kind of “meh” about them. Probably wouldn’t be if I tried them on and the fit!
i don’t understand the hate for these. maybe in person I would change my mind, but online they look very cute. for some, sweatpants are more flattering than jeans. i’m not really into trends but to me, compared to all the fashion, styles and clothes out there, these seem to be a fun inevitability with a bit of practicality. That all said, I won’t be getting them because even if on sale, I doubt I’ll be able to afford them, but if I could I’d at least give them a try.
yes, the price is a little prohibitive right now. on sale however… 😉
i did see them at rag & bone a couple weeks ago but didn’t really think much about them – maybe i looked at the price and was like WHOA. they’ve grown on me though! but i do have an intermix closer so i think i’ll go and try them on there this weekend and report back. i’m excited 🙂 –
Yea the price is 🙁 especially for something so thin.
i hear you juli…but i really don’t see these the same way you do, so i don’t think they project anything other than confidence & style. yes – you have to have confidence to pull these off successfully, i think. oh, and a lot of money to spend on “fun” fashion 😉
rag & bone produces things that they think will sell, and ultimately things that women want to wear. these will sell, i’m sure of it.
as far as thinking that this is how women should look – i also don’t have a problem there, because i like the look of these, but they make skinny jeans too, does that mean they think all women look great in skinny jeans (i do not look great in skinny jeans)?
fashion/style is very polarizing 🙂
funny that you mention that for some sweatpants are more flattering than jeans…i struggle all the time with jeans because i don’t think they’re great on me, unless they’re boyfriend style or whatever, because my legs are very thick. so now that sweatpants/slouchy pants are having a moment, and they’re EVERYWHERE, i can stock up and wear styles that are more comfortable for me…
I saw these at Bloomies, and they’re insanely soft. I love Rag & Bone, and I like the concept of these, but I’m also someone who wears sweats all of the time. I have three pairs of Free City sweatpants that are in constant rotation. With a T, a jean jacket , and a pair of Vans, I think they look cute enough to wear out–and I’m 41! My only issue with the Rag & Bone pair is that they’re pretty distressed; they have a “dirty” wash I’m not wild about.
yes, that’s my main issue with them: the “dirty” wash. not sure I could get over that, but I’m going to try them on in person and report back 🙂
Hi Grechen. I’m new here. Just wondering if you ever got a chance to try the Rag & Bone pajama “jeans” on? I wound up ordering them myself because I had to see what all the fuss was about (on other sites). But I was hoping to dislike them and send them back immediately. But I wound up loving them sooo much that I’m actually on the fence about keeping them! I’m no cheapskate and will spend a pretty penny for something I love, but it has to make sense: I’m nobody’s fool ;-). On one hand, I can’t see spending $300 for a pair of jogging pants, on the other, I’ve never seen nothing like ’em. And their so comfy and easy to wear. I don’t even like jeans this dirty and distressed generally but these pants have changed my mind. I tried them on with a brand new, plain white tee shirt and they looked AMAZING. The more stuff I tried them on with, the more mesmorizing I’ve become. They are so rich looking (as they should be). They are on pre-order in lots of places and selling out everywhere so I’m afraid that if I send them back and change my mind, it might be too late. My only satisfaction comes from the fact that I ordered them from revolve clothing using a 10% off coupon, didn’t pay taxes, and got free shipping. Still, they are awfully expensive for a pair of jogging pants that won’t last 10 years like a pair of jeans will. So did you try them on again? Thoughts?
I did try them on and I loved them! But couldn’t pay full price… I know they were selling out and we’re on pre-order a lot of places but I was just at Neiman Marcus and saw quite a few pairs out. My gut is that they will go on sale soon because they were so popular in the beginning, got reordered and then lost their luster… So now they’re not selling as fast. I’ve heard that this happens a lot actually… The early adopters race to get them first causing them to sell out – but they’re really the only ones who will buy them at full price.
I truly think they’ll go on sale soon, but you already have them and you did get them for 10% off… Which is still pretty good. And it sounds like you really love them, making then worth whatever you paid for them…
If I were you and I already had then and loved them, I’ll keep them and just enjoy them! I’ve bought tons of things at full price or barely discounted that went on sale significantly later and can’t regret it because i’ll still get a great cost per wear out of them..
They’re special. And I think if you wash then infrequently and don’t dry them they could last years!
