Everlane cotton poplin cutaway tank (sent from Everlane to review) | size 6
Frame Le Garcon jeans
Birkenstock Arizona Sandals
So, here are a couple pictures of the Everlane cutaway tank they recently sent me in size 6. I haven’t worn it out, I just tried it on for pictures (I will probably pass this on, it doesn’t fill a need in my wardrobe). But here are my comments:
- I continue to love the new cotton poplin, so lightweight, so comfortable. And I like the easy, built-in-AC styles 🙂
- The cutaway in the back is very well thought out; it hides your bra in the back, and only shows a little of your lower back. Of course, you’d want to not wear anything super-low rise, and be sure to get the right size. There’s a button closure on the right shoulder, which is clever, I guess, but I’m not sure how functional?
- I believe the size 6 is a little big on me. You can see the gaping at the shoulder straps, and that it tents out a lot in front
- you’d have to wear a racer-back bra with this. I’m wearing a regular bra, and the straps are clearly visible. Annoyingly so. But again, that may also be a function of the size being too big for me. It’s big because my bra size is 34b, not because I’m not more like a size 6…

What do you think of the new Everlane coming soon? anything you’re looking forward to? What Everlane have you bought and loved lately?
I’m looking forward to the smoking loafer. I’ve had my eye on various smoking loafers, but haven’t bought any, so I might give these a try. I absolutely love my slingback sandals, so I’m hoping the leather quality will be the same.
I also like their new tee colors because my husband lives in their men’s crew tees, so I always pick up a couple of the new colors when they come out.
I noticed they are clearing out the Ryan tanks and tees, and are getting something in called “luxe drape tees,” which seem like the Ryan replacement. I’m kind of bummed about that, because 1) I love love love the Ryan tees and tanks, wear them all the time 2) the pictured luxe drape tee seems super sheer and 3) they look like they will cost more. So thinner, cheaper looking fabric + higher cost? Not cool.
those new tanks look like they’ll be like the air tanks they had a while ago, which i didn’t try, because i thought they’d be pretty flimsy and didn’t fill a hole in my wardrobe. i did have one come through SLOWRE though, and while it was sort of “flimsy” and sheer, it seemed like it might be a good layering piece? i don’t know, i love my ryan tanks too, but they did have a lot of sizing/shrinkage issues with those. some people REALLY loved them and some didn’t!!
the new shoes look very interesting, the oxfords specifically are very freda salvador…and i’m surprised they didn’t do a version of that slingback sandal this summer, those seem to have been very popular. i never tried them though.
I totally dig this shirt! I do think it’s a big large on you, but the color and cut is spot on. I saw a similar shirt to this at a clothing swap recently, and I’ve been super interested in the cutaway design. I will definitely have to seek one out! Also, your shorter hair is THE CUTEST!!
I am just so happy that someone is making pure cottons again. I guess it’s because the looser structures allow it, but still, not everyone is doing it. I know pure cottons can wrinkle, but with even a little bit of spandex mixed in, even 1 percent, the clothes become so hot. It is amazing that pure cotton, linen and silk wrinkle so much, but mix them up and they hardly wrinkle at all. For instance, a good cotton/linen blend. Virtually issueless. At least to my admittedly low standard! I do love the top you are modelling today. But I have tooo many hot weather tops, and although I could happily pass a bunch on and subsitute the one cotton top, that just seems too spendthrift, even for me! What am I looking forward to? Just about everything except the luggage and tanks. I hoping not everything is just in white and black. (Sorry Grechen, those just aren’t my colours.) I’m even getting a little sick of navy this summer and I didn’t think that could ever happen!
The Gia Coppola collection. Stripes, in red and yellow!
It’s cute, but I really want linen, not cotton poplin. I was just notified that Everlane restocked the Cotton Poplin Square Shirt, so I ordered it! I can’t wait til it arrives. I think Redbook mag editor, Metedith Rollins had it on in an Instagram pic!
I do wonder if the shirt was pressed if it would hang differently…. You are small busted so the “girls” cannot be blamed for the tenting! I do think it is the creasing; I can tell exactly how the shirt was folded when it was shipped.
Speaking of the “girls”, I am VERY large busted and would look like mother earth in that top. I don’t mind it on you but I think it’s nothing special.
I got this shirt and I love it. It’s interesting that you recommend wearing a racerback bra with it–I don’t have that problem at all! I’m glad to have one that’s more durable than the silk.
Pssst, I love love love Everlane, but I’ve gotta recommend Nisolo’s smoking loafer to you. Your feet will worship you. There’s so much cushion and the leather is stunning. IME, Everlane’s shoes haven’t had much padding and my feet get a bit sore if I wear them all day. I think that the Chelsea boot, street shoes, and modern Babo are their very best shoes so far based on both comfort and aesthetic. Their modern loafer is nice with an insole.
Hi Grechen – please let me know if you do decide you’d like to sell it. I ordered a 4 but found it too small and now Everlane is out in SZ 6 (and all other sizes!).
Thanks,
HC
