Everlane day heels (gift to review from Everlane*) | TRUE TO SIZE and COMFORTABLE!!!
Yes, I know, take a moment to recover from the shock. I ASKED for this color, but only after I made sure they were an orange-y red, not a RED red LOL. And they are SO pretty : I love them.
In homage to Everlane’s press release which featured a floral designer wearing the new Day heels going about her business, I thought I’d try it out myself. Haha. Honestly, I would never wear these to shoot new arrivals for slowre in my garage, normally, but I wanted to test them out and see if they’d be good for someone who’s on their feet quite a bit at work, but who still wants to wear a short heel and pretty shoes.
And, quite serendipitously, these arrived as I was just beginning to shoot, so I put them on with what I was wearing and continued about my day. Right off, I was impressed with how the shoes felt on, but still, was wary that I’d be able to wear them for very long. Before I knew it though, I’d worn them for two and a half hours, non stop on my feet running back and forth, and then, when I was finished, I kept them on; I wasn’t DYING to take them off. And that means something. I am notorious for taking off my BRA as soon as I’m home, and finished with my “day”, so…
My feet weren’t sore after wearing these. Yes, my toes needed to spread out a bit afterwards; I’m used to wearing Birkenstocks at home, or sneakers, or nothing too restrictive on my feet, so there was a little pressure there, but nothing substantial. With Everlane’s shoes in the past, I’ve had problems with their being too narrow, and the leather has been very stiff, taking a lot of breaking in that was hard on my feet. These are super-soft leather, and the elastic at the heel really makes a difference in keeping them on my feet (no heel slippage) and preventing blisters.
Oh, and then I wore these again out to brunch, which was really lunch, with my husband on Sunday. Still good.
Finally, a great shoe from Everlane; this is a huge win in my opinion. I’ve liked all their shoes, style-wise, but as I’ve mentioned, have had problems with fit and breaking in. Not these. I really recommend these if you’re looking for a simple, chic, shoe with a heel for work or otherwise.
I also received the new day mules, and those are the same – very good. I got those in black, and have worn them around the house quite a bit and am bringing them to Atlanta for our overnight Passover seder trip today, to slip on at home instead of the sneakers I’m wearing on the plane. More Thursday when they launch.
*Periodically Everlane sends me new items to review for you. I am not paid for these reviews, only in so far as I receive the products at no charge. Everlane has no expectation of a positive review or that I mention anything specific at all. Thank you for supporting partners of Grechen’s Closet 🙂
That is the one pair of shoes I’ve been eyeing from Everlane…I love that block heel style but didn’t want to spend $400 for the Rachel Comey versions, and wasn’t sure about the Jeffrey Campbell knock off quality. And surprisingly, I’ve been thinking about the red too.
And here’s another pair of red shoes I’m obsessed with…but cannot see spending almost $400 for them.

So nice to hear this! I have been storing up credits for the flats.
I am sooooo tempted by these shoes. I am having a really hard time deciding which color to go with, though. I have so many black shoes that I am thinking maybe the rose nude. But the navy and red are so fun.
Also, this is random, but I have a question. I feel like I recall that a while back you mentioned something you put on your shoes if there’s a spot that rubs on you in an uncomfortable way. Am I making that up, haha? If not, would you mind sharing that tip again? I have a pair of black block heel sandals that I love and that are comfortable aside from the fact that one of the straps rubs really painfully on one of my toes. I would hate to give up on them for such a small issue and am looking for solutions. Thanks so much!
Thanks for your review! I was really curious about them. I’ve been thinking that I need a pair of heels just for those few times a year when I really should wear heels, and I hate most heels because they are usually too tall, too uncomfortable, or too pointy toed for me. I’m glad to hear they are actually comfortable!
I am so excited that they’ve made a shoe that is TTS and comfortable! I will put these on my list to consider for when I return to work late summer. I need a pair of black heels and I need them to be comfortable all day, possibly bike-friendly, and comfortable for a long day in court if necessary.
FYI, i got a note on instagram that someone sized up? i found them to be true to my “regular” size…
yes, so comfortable. and i agree – i don’t wear heels much at all, ever, really, but i appreciate having a pair for when i want to, and this is a great pair. i think they’re really easy to pull out and just wear, without thinking too much about them.
moleskin!!? i buy a roll of it and cut little pieces off to fit whatever i need to. i stick it directly to the inside of my shoe and voila! instant comfort.
LOVE THOSE!!!!!!!!!!
i bet they’ll go on sale…stalk them!
the everlane day shoes are a good “knock off” of the rachel comey/robert clergerie versions for sure.
I just ordered that Black Crane shirt because that outfit is so awesome. This new silhouette that you’ve been wearing that shows off your waist is incredibly flattering.
Yes, that’s it! Thanks so much. I am going to try that and hope it works!
I love your blog. Thanks for the review ! I took your advice ! I ordered the shoes. I’m heading off on a long flight and downloaded your series Shitts Creek. Thanks Gretchen. PS – your hair looks great. Lisa
That was me! My shoe size is average (9) but my feet are wide and flat. I sized one half size up as recommended for Everlane’s original loafers, and breaking them in murdered my feet (at least now they are like slippers. lol). Everlane had a shoe event in San Francisco–that “Worn Once” event, and I had the opportunity to try on several of their shoes. Size 9 didn’t work for me across the board. So, I figure as far as Everlane is concerned, I’m a size 10. This 100% has to do w/ the shape of my feet.
Also, the red heels look GREAT on you! 😀
Thanks for your review! The red looks great on you.
I ordered the rose nude today even though they are backordered until May. I’m almost strictly a flat girl, but when you need a classy, comfy, heel…you need one!
Those are gorgeous! They’ll be worth the wait I think!
Yay!! Enjoy the tv show and the shoes 🙂
I hope so too!! It works well for me.
Thanks jennifer
Love the red! They look great on you and I want a pair but it looks like they are sold out of the red at the moment. Too bad! Grechen have you tried the Everlane Modern Oxford? I am curious if they are stiff and hard to break in as you mentioned about some their shoes. I have never purchased from Everlane because I have had doubts about the quality. Your reviews are very helpful! Thank you.
Also – the Day Heels could be considered “knock offs” of the Martiniano styles that are so popular:

I went to the try-on event and found them true to my real size. I got the modern loafers in 6.5 but went with a 6 in these. My friends also took their true size, not a half size up. The elastic back means you can’t have much gap in the back or they will slide off.
I love them! The blush color looked a lot like the Chloe Lauren pump. Too bad they sold out immediately. 🙁
There are also specific blister packs you can get in a drugstore – little stick on pieces of padding to insert into a shoe where it rubs. If sweat + rubbing = blisters for you, blister prevention sticks work too. (dr. scholls, bandaid, gold bond all make options…) I keep one in my travel kit – it’s TSA friendly and no scissors needed!
Also, I have a great set of shoe stretchers – wooden, they can stretch width and length (a little). I find using them for a couple weeks helps me prevent some of the rubbing that can occur with new shoes….
They are already sold out of the size 39! I’m actually trying to not buy any shoes since I’m going to Europe next month, and want the option to buy something there. 😉
Oh well that’s good then, right?? 🙂
Yes! Need to leave room in my bag for souvenirs.
