All of the sudden, I’m seeing pale pink everywhere. It started at James Perse. Obviously. I tried on the short sleeve raglan cashmere top in pink while I was there last week and was pleasantly surprised. And then not surprised. Because as I’ve mentioned before, James Perse can get me to try anything. Even pink.
It was lovely with my gray/black/white ensemble I was wearing, and while I probably won’t get it (at least until it goes on MAJOR sale), it got me thinking. Then as I was out shopping again yesterday, I visited Splendid and saw several pink pieces I fell in love with. This Splendid light jersey v-back tunic especially.
I’ve had several pale pink accessories in years past (a nylon Moschino Cheap & Chic bag and a quilted Marc Jacobs bowler bag), and my Jerome Dreyfuss mini twee was more pink than “nude” in my opinion, and they’re no longer with me. So I don’t think I’ll be buying into pink for fall, but I do think it’s a beautiful neutral that’s more feminine than white if you’re so inclined.
What do you think? do you like pale pink? Do you have anything pale pink? Will you buy anything for fall?

Lovely – on someone else. I don’t like the color (and pale pink does me NO favors!). I also freely admit I have huge stereotypes to overcome re: pink – pink being for little girls, and pastels worn in autumn, etc. So I’ll pass on this….(I love some of those pieces, though…I have a long pleated skirt in black – similar to that Zahara skirt- and I have not been able to figure out a way to style it so I would be comfortable wearing it to work. In theory, a tank or t-shirt with a cardigan or chambray shirt worn over, as I’ve seen it styled online, should work. But it doesn’t feel right….)
I have a pair of J. Crew chinos in “dusty agate” (a pale pink) that I bought this summer. I love the color but just haven’t worn them much yet–black seems to harsh to pair with them, but grey would be perfect. I’m picturing a grey cable-knit sweater or jacket.
Also–fall heads-up–Emerson Fry has their fall preview up, and they are killing it, again–grey and black and lots of texture, plus some amazing new “Frenchie” pants that are dressier than jeans but more casual than trousers.. Everything is exactly what I want to wear to work–except for all the heels. ๐

omg…i saw the emerson fry preview and immediately thought of you ๐
i love everything; i just can’t get over not being able to try things on in person. i know…so old fashioned…
i really really really love the look of the denim, but i’m afraid to even get my hopes up. the frenchie pants are awesome – they look like a true straight leg.
and YES. wear gray with your pale pink pants – i loved the pink sweater with charcoal gray…
i hear you on the pleated skirt. i’ve had a few and never could make them work for me. they also feel sort of girly…maybe with a structured blazer? i think that might give it a little more “edge” – i would try that.
Ha! I came here after getting the Everlane email with their new “red clay” tees, which look like pink to me. Pink is my favorite color, but I do find it hard to wear sometimes. I have always loved pink shoes for some reason and have worn them as neutrals with other colors. I think I might get a pink tee and try to wear it with boyfriend jeans or something with a bit of edge to it.
i was just going to do a post on the new everlane stuff, and the “coming soon” items…i’m obsessed with the loafers!!
i lvoe that red clay color, but i know i wouldn’t wear it…
pink tee, boyfriend jeans, and your zero maria cornejo shoes – done! amazing outfit ๐
That new silk shirt from Everlane in Root would go well with the pants too…just not sure if I’d end up wearing brown. Definitely feeling back to black and grey right now (despite the pink pants!).
I tried on the pink gap sneakers this weekend .. ugh, I dislike when they only have whole sizes .. I am a true 8.5 .. an 8 is too small, a 9 is too large.
Monica.

oh man…were they cute though? ๐ could you add an insert in the 9’s?
i LOVE the root color, but yeah. brown. i don’t think i’ve ever tried it though…only taupe.
Oh yeah! Thanks for the inspiration! Now I just have to break in those shoes. ๐
Well darn. Now I want that James Perse cashmere raglan tee in both the charcoal and the pink. ๐
i knew you would! i thought of you when i tried them on. they’re pretty great, actually, and i preferred my normal size (2) , but also tried on the 1 since they’re a little oversized. the only thing that bothered me a little was the sleeves. i don’t like that length on me, and they were a little wide. i just didn’t like it that much on bare arms, but wouldn’t mind them at all layered over a long sleeve tee or button-down shirt…
Oooooh. All that is good to know. I have been staring at the arms…they look like they have a bit of ribbing at the bottom of the short sleeve which has some appeal. Plus the length looks like it might hide my jiggly triceps. I can’t decide if I would know what to do with a short sleeve sweater — by the time I need to wear a sweater, I usually want my whole arm covered up. However, I could wear bracelets! And the neckline looks lovely. Both colors are on my JP wish list and I wish they were on sale RIGHT NOW.
Though I have some pink baggage, I actually really like blush. It may be my favorite almost-color. I wonder if I could ever bring myself to choose it over the charcoal?
*by baggage I mean gender issues. not luggage.
omg. i really thought you meant pink LUGGAGE. ha! i think we all have “pink” baggage!!
I’m laughing over the “baggage” comment, Christina!
I’ve been told that pale pink looks good on me, but it was by a relative who has incredibly bad taste, so I’ve chosen to disregard the compliment. Pink, other than hot pink (Which I toyed with briefly…oh, now that sounds bad…Not like in a “50 Shades of Hot Pink” kind of way), is NOT flattering to me in any way. Not even tempted.
I love the color! It may just be me but I bought the prior version of the Gap white-soled slip-ons (the leopard print that sold out fast last year) and the shoes really cut into the Achilles, severely, even when I used Band-Aids or moleskin, and I tried 2 sizes.
I do enjoy my rinky-dink barre class and fantasize about getting all Ballet Beautiful’d up for class but wouldn’t have the nerve!
oh! good to know about the shoes, i tend to have a problem in that area, especially on my right foot.
right? i love all that ballet beautiful stuff, but i mean…i think you have to be really tall and lean to pull off a full-on ballet look. i love the idea of a leotard and stirrup leggings though. i don’t know why!
Yes. I love this pale/blush pink. As to wearing it, well, not quite sure. I think I’d like it in denim:).
