Yeah, I never thought I’d say that either. But after seeing these denim shorts by Genetic this week at Shopbop and briefly thinking about adding them to my “hearts” I realized I could probably MAKE them myself. And luckily I hadn’t been to Goodwill yet to drop off all my old Goldsign jeans I was finally ready to part with…
This pair is Desire, they’re a flared leg, but not wide at all in the thighs, so they worked nicely for bermuda length shorts. I didn’t cut them very well, but I’m not going to worry about that. Honestly, I’m still not all that sold on showing my knees in public, so I don’t wear shorts out that much. So these will be mainly for home/beach/pool/REALLY REALLY REALLY hot days.
And I saw a woman at Buffalo Exchange recently wearing this exact outfit, except she was wearing cute slip-on sneakers, which I don’t wear during the summer. I LOVED it. I couldn’t stop staring at her. Which is what gave me the idea to pair my new denim shorts with this Madewell top. I do wish the top wasn’t SO oversized sometimes, but I’ve yet to find one that’s just oversized ENOUGH. Know what I mean? So this one will do for now.
Oh, and yes, I lied about the final edits of my closet clean-out. There are still some pieces left from what I posted on Wednesday, and there are still some pieces I’m thinking about getting rid of (a few of my Inhabit cotton cardigans and sweaters & a couple more), but I was also considering letting go of some bags. And after thinking A LOT about it, and the direction I want to take my wardrobe (black, white & gray…remember?), I’ve decided to sell my two Jerome Dreyfuss bags and my yellow Balenciaga.
First, the Balenciaga is not in good shape. It wasn’t in good shape when I bought it, but I couldn’t resist. I love it, and don’t care that it’s stained and the leather is rubbed off in some places. But I understand that doesn’t make it very desirable. The metal plate that’s supposed to be fastened to a leather patch on the zip pocket in the bag fell off (I still have it), and I’m pretty sure some of the tassels are gone, but it’s still a completely functional, and beautiful bag. If you’re interested in it, email me – grechen(at)grechenmedia.com – with an offer and we’ll work something out. I can also send more pictures.
Next, I have the Jerome Dreyfuss momo bag in red (full review here, dimensions at Shopbop) and the Jerome Dreyfuss mini twee bag in “nude” (last seen on me here – full description & dimensions at Shopbop), which is slightly pink. Both are in excellent condition; not a scratch or blemish on either. I would like $250 for each Jerome Dreyfuss bag including shipping.
Please email me with any questions or for more pictures. I truly love all of these bags, but I hate the idea of them sitting around not being used. And they just don’t fit with the direction I want my wardrobe to go anymore. I am sure, now, of what I want, and what I don’t want in my closet, so I must go with it and never look back…
I do that all the time: I see someone on the street wearing an outfit I love, and me, being the shy, retiring wallflower that I am, š tell them they have amazing taste and ask where they got the item(s). It never fails. The only disappointing answer is “Overseas in a street bazaar”!
I don’t know why, but I’m still having anxiety over YOU getting rid of accessories! (Living vicariously through my blogger friend…)
P.S. The outfit is great on you and I love the DIY shorts!
don’t be anxious for me!! i feel good about my decisions. so far no regrets…we’ll see though š
no. i have never had any regrets about getting rid of clothing. i guess i’ve missed some bags i got rid of, but not really…not like i’m obsessed with trying to find them again, just that i might enjoy them more now. but at this point, i only want black bags. nothing but black. i just don’t wear or enjoy anything else…
Well, that’s a good thing because it equates to self-knowledge. I’ll go take a Xanax and “peace-out” for awhile… š
I think you could keep your newish, cute mini twee though…it looks so great up against your new wardrobe of blacks and grey! I’ll even put a smaller bag inside another larger bag to keep as an option during the day for change of scenery when i can stash the other-say in a car-…..and it’s small, it doesn’t take up too much room right??? just my two cents…!
Great job with the shorts – they look fantastic. I love how you’ve paired them with the Birkenstocks too, I’m secretly lusting after a pair myself but they really don’t suit my feet š
