And that means, this year, Grechen’s Closet will turn 7 years old!!! WHOA. And, as I mentioned, I was working on a New Year’s Resolutions post, but that never happened – just like most of my NY resolutions never get resolved….but there are a few things I’d like to do this year:
- retire the Joe’s Jeans I’m wearing today π – the holes are getting too big and annoying to wear. and I’m honestly longing for long, flared jeans lately.
- Finally stop talking about, and acquire a pair of Rachel Comey shoes. Oh wait, I did that on 12/31!! Tobi had the black bow clogs on sale for $160, and I couldn’t resist…
- wear heels more often. A few inches makes such a big difference π
- I’d like to own a suede bag – slouchy, preferably, and camel – maybe Sissi Rossi? Otherwise, I DO NOT NEED ANY MORE BAGS. NOT EVEN A DUNLIN. In fact, I need to get rid of quite a few – starting with my Alexander Wang Rocco bag. See this post for details if you’re interested.
- and finally, I’d like to stop buying stuff. I know, I keep saying that. But instead of just going on an all-out shopping ban, I’m going to aim to keep a “list” of things I need in my wardrobe each month and only buy those things. Easier said than done, of course, but making a list is a step in the right direction anyway, no?
What are your fashion/shopping related goals for 2011?
nice goals–I’ve got the same for buying more things I love vs. being enticed by sale items as well. Good thing we got those Jas MB bags before the new year huh? ;o)
I totally identify with your goals—-I went through my closet and I really don’t need to buy anything (it’s the wants that are the problem . . . and especially those on sale). I’m going to try to stick to a list as well (maybe I will post it on the blog to make it more visible . . . hmm).
for denim, there’s also Denim Therapy that repair holes in beloved jeans, (well, because you never know if you might want the Joe’s jeans again and you looked great in them). I repaired mine awhile back.
Happy New Year Grechen!
I am in the opposite place with jeans. I am finding that as my wardrobe of tops goes more in the direction of loose and long, wide-legged jeans (usually my norm) just look sloppy. This may be because I normally wear flats, but I had a denim freakout a few weeks ago and went significantly narrower than I have in the past.
I like the jeans you are wearing in the pic but I am attempting to rid my wardrobe of all holey clothing, intentional and otherwise! (Which sucks, because a pair of Old Navy boyfriend jeans I bought on a whim are sooo comfortable.)
Wow, your blog’s been going for 7 years?! That is seriously impressive!
Style resolution posts are always something I struggle with, because it means stepping a little bit out of my lovely, comfy comfort zone. I have to agree with the heels thing though – I never wore them before I started university in September, and now they’re a night out staple. They make me feel so much more confident and “grown up” (which as the world’s shortest 18-year-old is no mean feet!).
Happy New Year Grechen!
I like your today’s outfit, quite casual but has this little something:-)
I don’t blame you for selling Rocco, I sold my as well. I couldn’t get used to its shapeless slouchiness. It is weird because I like slouch bags.
thank you!
i love the rocco, but i hadn’t used it in a very long time – i don’t like my bags to sit and not get used, so i decided to get rid of it π
Good luck with your NY resolutions!! I’m hoping to stick to mine this year. Although it doesn’t completely get rid of the wants, I find that having a wardrobe needs list is a good way to stay focused when thinking about buying something (especially if you are being enticed by a sale).
I made a post about some of my style resolutions, but my main goals are to add more prints and to try and incorporate more glamour and girlyness to my wardrobe. I would say another is to not shop, but that would be torturous, so I just want to make more frugal, conscious and deliberate shopping decisions.
P.S. Anthro finally put that brown leather skirt on sale yesterday and we will soon be skirt twins. π
ohhh!!! can’t wait to see your pictures with the leather skirt π
