wearing: Madewell skirt | James Perse button-up | No6 Clogs | Jas M.B. bag | Candace Ang necklace
I wore this yesterday, but never had time to take a picture…I met some local ladies for happy hour last night (me with my giant bottle of San Pelligrino) and since I had some time to spare, I went over to Neiman Marcus to look at lipstick. Can you tell I’m wearing a brighter color?? I tried a few colors, but I knew what I was looking for – thanks to Val!! – and ended up settling on Bobbi Brown’s “guava” which is a nice pink/coral color. I also kept my eyes simple and added a little more blush so I wouldn’t look washed out, thanks again to Val for suggesting I do that.
And it’s funny, one of the ladies at the happy hour last night remarked on my “signature” black & white outfit. I don’t see her very often, but even so, it seems as if my general lack of color in outfits is noticeable! Which is okay with me…it’s so much easier this way…at least if I leave color out of my outfit, I’m more comfortable playing with a brighter lip.
deleted because it was a duplicate 🙂
Grechen, I love “Guava” on you!! And the formula is great, isn’t it? You did your makeup perfectly to go with the brighter lip. And I don’t know if anyone has told you this recently, but you look amazing. Still doing yoga? Oh…and you’ll be proud of me. I jumped over one of my HUGE hurdles (in my brain) and wore a maxi skirt (looks like yours, black chiffon style from GAP) with a shirt TUCKED IN and a BELT!!! (Thanks for the shout-out <3 )
thank you val!! it’s not yoga, i just exercise a lot, and really don’t eat much. definitely no sugar or starch.
and i AM proud of you, i’m sure you looked gorgeous – aren’t you glad you tried?? your skirt sounds amazing, is it recent from the Gap?
I thought for some reason that you were doing yoga…oh well. I’m going to have to face my demons and cut out sugar, white flour, etc. one of these days. I have to be fully committed, tho. (that’s my excuse, anyway!).
I probably bought the skirt a couple of months ago and then it took some effort to get my courage up and actually wear it (and it was too hot–I’m at that age where I generate “My own private summer”). On a whim, I decided to tuck in the shirt and add the belt. Voila! Not too painful…
we were doing bikram yoga for a while last year…but it’s too big of a commitment! we’ve been not eating “white” stuff since the beginning of the year and it’s gotten MUCH easier over time. i don’t really miss anything anymore. we do “cheat” sometimes on saturdays though 🙂
really liked this outfit on you–really flattering, and even with black/white combo, still interesting!
