Balenciaga bag (secondhand via MOSS)
I’ve had a secret desire for a Balenciaga bag for years, but I was unwilling to pay full price or buy from ebay, so I had kind of given up on ever owning one. But this one showed up at MOSS designer consignment recently and I was instantly in love. It was still too much at full price, so I waited not-so-patiently for it to be marked down and hoped that it would still be there when it went on sale. I think it didn’t sell because of the denim staining and wear on the bag, but honestly, I don’t think the wear is that bad – I mean, it looks used, that’s all, not destroyed – and my friend Sari at MOSS was able to get a lot of the denim stain off, so I felt like it was a steal at the price. AND I had store credit for my consigned items, so it was kind of a no-brainer. I LOVE yellow with gray, and you know I wear a lot of gray – and black – and white – so I think it will fit in quite nicely to my wardrobe. And it adds just the right amount of color 😉
I’m excited to have something in my wardrobe that really makes me smile. Not that I don’t have any pieces already that I have an emotional reaction to, but last year, I got rid of many items that I DID love, in favor of making my wardrobe more practical, and ultimately more monotone and easy to work with. This year, I don’t plan on adding much to my wardrobe, because I REALLY don’t need anything, but what I do decide to add will have to make me smile, and I will have to LOVE it.
We’ll see what I can find! (I can already tell you that when these Repetto BB flats get marked down they will be MINE)
JEALOUS! That bag is on my list of wants as well. Looooooove it AND the color!
oh..i’m glad you didn’t beat me to it then 😉

Ahhh! Looks great! I am really hoping to get to that point in my wardrobe this year– where my needs are all covered and I buy only when I am in LOVE with something.
What a lucky score. That color is perfect right now too.
The bag is perfect for all of your gray, black and white outfits! And the best thing is that it makes you smile : – )
I’m screaming w/ excitement for you and your bag! It’s beautiful, congrats!
thanks 😉 i need to smile more!
Wanted to say I really enjoy your blogs. I happen to find you by chance and was scrolling thru your different posts and next thing I knew, I had read them all. I rarely do that. I generally look at a few pictures and then move on. What most caught my attention was that I enjoy seeing a “real woman” posting with items that most women can afford. And you respond to your comments, when applicable. Commendable. I tired very quickly of reading blogs by 24 year old single size 0 bloggers with no mortgage, children or a care in the world showing handbags that were more than my son’s college tuition or putting together a designer outfit with every piece “gifted”. I have a lot of gorgeous clothes and shoes too…but show me more how to rearrange colors! That’s what I need. Keep up the great work Gretchen…I enjoy your style!

karen, thank you so much for your comment! i really appreciate your taking the time to write; it’s so helpful to me to remind me why i do this in the first place 🙂
i’m not so sure i’m the right person to show you how to work with color more, but i am trying to incorporate color into my outfits, or at least my accessories, more often. i hope you’ll keep reading and commenting!!
LOVE it!!! it’s so comfortable to carry, either with the handles or the shoulder strap (although i do wish that was a bit longer). i’m glad i got it…i think it fulfills my balenciaga lemming. for a while anyway!!
great pick! I have the Balenciaga city in black and it makes me happy every time I take it out. That color is amazing and it really pops. On another note, you just made me want to get the Mociun dress——you look beautiful in it. Great post!

yellow is definitely not my color either, but this one just kind of got stuck in my head! i never would have considered it without seeing it in person – and of course the price couldn’t be beat….
