David Lerner high-waist coated leggings | made in the US
Everlane linen shirt (gift for review) | size 8
Freda Salvador Lock D’orsay flats | 25% off this weekend at Freda Salvador with code LETSBEFRIENDS
It’s Fashion Revolution Week this week, do you know who made your clothes? Today, I’m wearing the Everlane linen shirt, which although it is basic, is still good for a white linen shirt, and long enough to wear with leggings. And made by Everlane, whom I trust for their transparency.
I haven’t been able to find much information at all about David Lerner, although I do know that they produce most items in the US and are based in NYC. I LOVE LOVE LOVE these leggings though, and have been super-impressed by the quality and just how well they look all the time. They’re 100% opaque and just look a little more “fancy” than my regular JP leggings that I also love. They’re also ridiculously high-waisted, like almost up to my bra, which I find insane, but also REALLY like LOL. So these leggings aren’t necessarily sustainable or eco-friendly in any way, but damn if I’m not going to wear them as often as possible for as long as possible, so I’m going to MAKE them sustainable…
Finally the shoes. If you haven’t yet, and you love Freda Salvador, get over to their website NOW for a pair of shoes during their Friends and Family sale because sizes are selling out super-fast. I want to buy all the Freda Salvador shoes, but I can’t, nor do I need them, but I’m a huge fan now after my Lock flats. They’re beautiful, so comfortable (no break-in at all), and add a ton of interest to any outfit (even really boring ones). AND, bonus, they’re handmade in Spain in a tiny family run factory.
(via Instagram yesterday and that “sheepskin” in the background, is fake…)
I hope you follow me on Instagram already, but if you don’t, yesterday I posted about my favorite Melissa Joy Manning earrings and how important it is to also consider who made our jewelry. I’ve been wearing Melissa Joy Manning earrings forever mostly because I love the simple, minimal styles, but also because she creates nearly everything with recycled metals, which is pretty much the best way to be sustainable in my opinion. There’s SO MUCH jewelry out there; recycling it by melting it down and re-creating with it is a wonderful way to give it new life.
These earrings are for me, because they’re so small no one else really sees them, but that’s okay, and just the way I like it 🙂
Oh, and speaking of earrings, I’ve got a pair of MJM hoops and Me & Ro silver lotus earrings up for sale on slowre, among other AMAZING new arrivals if you haven’t taken a peek lately. It’s also open for consignment if you have anything to send my way! I’ve already received some goodies from a few of you, but need more!!
Hey Grechen,
So excited about your new consignment shop, I wish you the best of luck! I’m surprised you won’t accept “designer” clothing (e.g Chloe, Max Mara, Derek Lam etc. etc.). I get what you are trying to accomplish, but wouldn’t the act of consigning unwanted, well made clothing jive with your ultimate goal? Just a thought.
Yes, of course, but there are SO MANY other online consignment shops where i think those items will do much better than on my shop, you know? also, i don’t want to deal with authenticating things. it’s not like i won’t take them, but i don’t necessarily think slowre is the best place for them….
Is there a code for the Freda Salvador sale? I’m tempted… 🙂
yes, it’s LETSBEFRIENDS
Sorry. I see it’s at the top of the post… Maybe I need to slow down.
How is the sizing? I find myself between a 7.5 and 8 most of the time.
i am consistently an 8 and the 8 in these fit perfectly right out of the box. no break -in, no rubbing, no blisters…
I ordered this exact pair of Freda Salvador shoes about a few weeks ago; it feels like I’ve worn them every other day since they arrived. They fit perfectly right out of the box; the shoes are supportive and ultra comfortable, but you barely even notice you’re wearing them (unless you look down and think to yourself, “wow, those are super cute shoes.”) Ordinarily I’d be irked to have missed out on the sale, but honestly I love these shoes so much that I’m just happy to snag a pair while my size was still available. I’d pay full price for them again!!
I have a pair of coated leggings by Eileen Fisher and I love them, too! I need to wear them more often, a reminder that the closet needs more “paring down.” I also own a pair of the MJM sterling silver “hugs” teeny hoop earrings (thanks to you!) and love that I don’t have to think twice about them. I keep them on all summer because I can swim in the ocean with them on and not worry about losing them. Funny story, tho… my 27-yr old daughter said, “Mom, I think you have your earrings on backwards.” Haha! She’s such an old lady and I’m so hip! 😉
Many thanks for the discount code! I was able to order the cage flat that was not available in my size at shopbop. Even though the total amount was still cringe worthy, I feel that I would get a lot of wear out of these beautiful shoes. Thanks again!
Seeing your shoes, I thought to check out what might be around from Dieppa Restrepo. Sadly, it looks like they’re going away.
where do you see that???
Just what it looks like to me from googling around. I don’t have any knowledge. Sorry if I gave you that impression! Their website hasn’t been updated in awhile (it says FW 15 “coming soon”) and the online shops that carry them don’t seem to have much stock. Just my personal observation. I’m curious …
What size do you wear for the leggings, how is the sizing are they true to what you usually wear.
They look wonderful and I am tempted to try them
kathleen – i’m wearing a medium in these, and i usually wear “mediums” in most things (my james perse leggings are a size 2 in james perse sizes), although i do think if I’d not bought these online and could have tried them on first, i’d have gone down to a small. they could stand to be a little tighter on me, and they’re quite long, i had to have them hemmed. i’m 5’3″ or so and about 140 pounds with a 26.5 inseam for reference! hope that helps…
I love those earrings!! Do they stay put or is there a risk of them falling out?
They’ve never fallen out! I’ve worn them non stop for two years.
Ok awesome I really think I need to add them to my collection of what my husband calls “expensive invisible jewelry”. Ps I just found your blog recently and we have such a similar aesthetic! I’m in my early 30s and am trying to find more timeless, well-made clothes which has been harder than I anticipated – anyway I’m really glad I found your site!
Haha. I love that!! My favorite jewelry is the stuff I wear for myself 😉
I’ll second that! (See above…ocean swims…they stay put)
I love those earrings too! They’re so small and subtle, yet so beautiful and authentic-looking. Gorgeous! Thanks for giving us a look into your closet!
