Everlane fannypack
It’s summer; it’ll be in the 90’s this week. So much for spring! as per usual Texas skips over spring and goes from winter straight to summer. Oh well. I WILL NOT COMPLAIN about being hot 🙂
I bought this Everlane fannypack when they came out last year and have never used it. But I am desperate to carry a smaller bag lately and I thought I would try this and see if I can do it. I’m not sure this is the right “fannypack” for me though, I would need one with more compartments, and that’s a little bigger. Of course I went down the rabbit hole trying to find THE RIGHT one, and have pretty much settled on this one by Cote & Ciel at Garmentory. But I also LOVE this woven belt bag by Rachel Comey (of course…).
I probably won’t wear it as a belt bag, or fannypack, but who knows? It could come in handy, and it’s all the rage right now. I like it more as a crossbody bag, which is very comfortable for me.
Do you wear a fannypack or belt bag?
Happy Monday!!! Is it summer where you are yet??
I got a tiny Patagonia fanny pack a few years ago and I loooooooooove it. It was intended for running, but I use it a lot in the summer when I’m out and about. It’s so convenient! I think you’re rocking the look, Grechen.
No fanny pack for me! But I just bought a Moop Paperback mini. I realized I never carry my “purse”. It’s either my carrier bag for work or shoving my phone and wallet in my pockets for the weekend. I’m hoping the smaller bag will fill in for weekend outfits with few to no pockets! I did finally pull the trigger on the ES Mara jumpsuit as well. Happy Mother’s day to me!
oh, happy mother’s day indeed!! i look forward to hearing how the mara jumpsuit works for you!!
thanks kathleen 🙂
there’s a patagonia sling bag i love, but could do without the logo patch …
i’m so picky when it comes to bags! i don’t want to see hardware, and i like everything tonal. black of course!
I’m not a a fanny pack person but I love the idea of wearing it as a crossbody.
I like the look of the fanny pack as cross body. I use a Lululemon festival bag as my everyday bag. It is a variation of a fanny pack, but all black everything, and it’s like a tardis – looks small, but fits the world inside.
I have that exact Everlane fanny pack, Grechen, same color too. My bf uses it when we do our dog walks–very handy. I recently bought a KARA waist bag which I really like in black (!) leather. It’s just one large pocket and I like the style b/c it’s flat.
Haha. Yes! That’s what I need.
I’ve always had fanny packs. I don’t think LeSportSac has ever stopped making them. I had several Tokidoki versions from them that I wore while going for long walks in the city for many years. It was a flatter style, just a house key, my phone and a cardholder. I wore them crossbody too before it was a “thing”.
I have several now, a black Prada nylon, which I wear the most. It goes with work clothes or workout clothing. Holds quite a bit. I wear the most cross body but have also worn at my hips. I also own the infamous Gucci Marmont version in a taupe leather and I never wear it! It is gorgeous but on the smaller end (more like a mini bag). I think it feels too precious too me & doesn’t go with my oversized dolman sleeve dresses but I vow to use it soon. I can wear it crossbody but it also looks lovely cinching the natural waist. I have a little one by the Aloha-Collection (Hawaii brand started by a Hawaii flight attendant that makes pouches out of Tyvek, great for beach life/travel as is waterproof). That one is great to use as a pouch in tote that can easily be used as a bag if you want to leave the tote behind. I have another packable one that is army green with orange accents that is your more traditional fanny pack. It is made by a camping inspired brand (can’t recall the name!) that is carried at a local specialty (hipster) surf shop. I share that one with the BF.
I think Hershel makes some cool ones too if anyone is looking for an affordable option (I remember the Everlane one was a nice price too!).
Love the jumpsuit and the Everlane fanny pack.
I wear them sometimes – mostly cross body these days, either with the bag as you have it or at the back, or just over my shoulder. Being in the UK though, I am even cringing at writing “fannypack” in inverted commas – it’s definitely not a phrase in common usage here!
haha.. yes, it’s a horrible phrase! when they first came out in the 80’s (lesportsac, as tania mentioned) they were called fannypacks, and that’s just how i see them now!!
I laugh too, now that I know how fanny is used in Britain. Definitely a different meaning (bum) in the US.
You know, if you’d asked me when Everlane released their belt bags last year, it would have been a resounding OH HELL NO, but I’m warming to the idea. I turn 40 this year and the last time I had a “fanny pack” it was 1990 and I had a bad Dorothy Hamill-style bowl cut, and braces, and was trying to rock androgyny on a 12-year-old changing body and THE HORROR. But, as much as I love backpacks, I am reminded that they make your back sweat fiercely, and while crossbody bags are lovely and more secure than shoulder bags, they flop and bonk kids when you bend over a lot, so I’m considering one. I remember seeing the more sporty Patagonia options and I could get excited about that, I think.
I LOVE that EF jumpsuit. I’ve been trying to find a linen option and that might be the best I’ve seen yet (we also have an EF store in St. Louis and I could theoretically try it on locally). I am with you on skipping spring. This year is was cold all the way into early May. We’ve had ten days of spring and it will be in the 90s by this weekend. I think there was ONE day with warmth AND low humidity. Ho hum.
