I took this picture at approximately 4:15 Saturday morning as I was getting ready to leave for my long weekend in Florida. NO amount of eye cream or living luminizer can hide that super-tired look. I tried!!
Anyway, I was very happy I decided to wear/take this jacket to Florida with me; I was really comfortable wearing it on the plane, and wore it for dinner and in the chilly mornings while I was there. I may have even worn it as a robe at home…
As for the pants, I’ve noticed I tend to wear them mostly when I travel. They’re always my go-to airplane pant because they’re just so ridiculously comfortable and EASY; I have been really pleased with them these last few years. Now my step-mom has a pair too!! We went into the Eileen Fisher store here yesterday to peek at the sale items, but then she asked me if she was going to get ONE pair of black Eileen Fisher pants, which should she try? I immediately suggested these, but she was hesitant because of their more slouchy style, but when she tried them on, she was sold. She also tried the stretch crepe slim ankle pants, but didn’t like the cropped length.
I’m always so excited to share my love of Eileen Fisher 🙂
What are your favorite pants for traveling? What is your go-to travel outfit?
What a chic and comfy looking travel outfit, Grechen! I really love this. I have two pairs of these same pants, and also love them because they’re so comfortable. I wear them about 3-4 days a week, both at work and during the weekend. As great as these pants are, I actually found the EF slim cropped crepe ankle pants (http://www.eileenfisher.com/slim-cropped-pant-in-washable-stretch-crepe-f6tk-p0162/?&color=1958) a bit more versatile for travel. They were also comfortable, but I found the slimmer pant, subtle side slits, and material a bit more versatile for dressing up or down. My go to travel outfit would be these pants, a white or black crew neck tee, slip on leather Vans or my Adidas Superstars, a Scotch & Soda army green scarf, and my sweatshirt moto jacket from All Saints or my old cotton quilted bomber from the Gap. Comfy, easy, and each article I can wear multiple ways since I try to pack lightly.
A good friend of mine is leaving on a work trip to India this week, so of course I asked her what’s she packing to wear while she’s there. She replied, “A whole lot of Eileen Fisher!” It totally made me think of you 🙂
How are the Etys? I guess I would have to order to see, but are they very clunky / platformy? They always look cool but I can’t justify the usual $300 price tag, so thanks for the link to the discounted pair. 😉
they are really great actually – they’re maybe a little heavier than my simple leather vince blair sneakers, but not too heavy, and i love the platform 🙂
i wore them on the plane/airport this weekend and once in florida (was too hot for shoes there!) and was really comfortable. i did “size up” from my normal 8/38 and wear an insole (I get the ones from aldo) and smartwool footies with them.
What a great sounding outfit, Michalla!
I love the sneakers with the outfit, too! I’m not sure if I’d do platform or not…but since we tend to get shorter as we get older…maybe!
I have worn my Eileen Fisher black slouchy pants on the last few flights I’ve taken. They look polished, chic, cute with sneakers or booties, sweaters or tees and jackets…just easy. And then I wear them multiple times once I reach my destination. A workhorse item.
This is such a great travel outfit…I agree with the commenters above…very chic. And you look much more “bright eyed and bushy tailed” than I would at that hour! Even Dagny is still asleep! 😉
For cool weather destinations (esp business trips) I love the slim Eileen Fisher ponte pant. Wear them on the flight (with a tee, cardigan & scarf) and then repeatedly during the trip (I don’t have to wear suits for business). For warmer weather, I like the Eileen Fisher slim crepe pant (I wear my black which are full length but prefer the ankle length I have in bark, but since that doesn’t work with my packing colors…..I keep looking for the black ankle length on sale! Or S L O W R E 😉 For very casual trips, I have some wicking pants I like too (great if I plan to hike at my destination) I have Columbia, Zenergy (Chicos) and even Tek from Kohls.
Yay! Thanks for the suggestion on the pants. I just ordered myself two pairs, one in size s and one in size m. I’m eager to see how they fit and will return the unwanted one. Super cute pictures you included to support your advice. Thank you!
Hi Grechen-
I love the idea of wearing the long jacket as a robe at home! This is a great outfit for travel as you can take off layers. My go to most trips ; A tee, the EF fleece slouchy pants, scarf and sweater, leather jacket I’ll change on the plane into something cooler for the landing.
Most of my outfits Im taking are EF as well, with a pair of white citizen jeans and silk top from Baci for the rehersal dinner. Her clothes go together so well, I don’t have to think too hard. Do you try on your outfits before packing them ? With your spreadsheet it must be a snap.
Signing off to finish packing 🙂
Thanks! 🙂 Sometimes I feel like it’s cheating since it basically feels like I’m wearing pajamas. And now that I’ve found EF pants, I can’t even believe I used to wear jeans on planes. Ugh, so uncomfortable!
Am I the only one who immediately thought of the “Sisterhood the traveling pants”? LOL
I wore the EF slouchy pants in grey on my flight to Vegas last week (sales meeting) and in black on my flight home. Both flights I had on Keen Sienna MJ canvas slip-on shoes in grey (they call it black for some reason). On top I layered EF silk cap sleeve tees under light and loose EF sweaters. Smart wool socks came off before landing in Vegas, and on before landing back in South Dakota.
Love that denim duster on you Grechen!!
Cheryl
Love this outfit and you are making such good use of the coat! I love my EF slouchy pants (in jersey) & wear them constantly. But I rarely wear them on the plane or for out of state travel. I typically like to bring bottoms that can be worn multiple times before washing & these stretch after a full day’s worth of wearing (my minimum flying time if I leave Hawaii is 6 hours or more, so 8 or 9 if you count airport and transit time too). I tend to wear these foldover lounge knit pants from Michael Lauren if going to a non-rainy destination (it’s a thicker knit so doesn’t bag as quickly). Or A slightly flared leg yoga pant (I’d love to wear leggings but I’m worried about circulation in the air) or BF jeans, depending on the trip. I also like to wear my Only Child Madelyn Coat because the pockets are huge so it can hold all my odds and ends on the plane.
Laughing out loud over that one, Cheryl, because YES! It definitely came to mind. And apparently, for us, those would be EF pants!!! 🙂
For sure Mama!!
oh my gosh…i guess i shouldn’t be surprised 😉
all of our traveling pants are eileen fisher pants! and yes, we are the sisterhood of the traveling eileen fisher pants LOL
wonderful! let us know how you like them when you get them!!
This is perfect. I love everything you wear, ha ha.
I’m late on this, but I love this outfit on you! And now I kinda want those pants.
