James Perse fleece skirt | several years old

**This post was NOT paid for/sponsored by Tradlands but they did send me three shirts to review and keep.
Here’s the last look of the three shirts I received from Tradlands (see my JJ review here and my Catt review here) a couple weeks ago. This is the Tourist shirt in Jet, which as you can see is black, but with sort of a dark blue/denim-y look (it’s a really great, soft, tencel/cotton blend).
I thought, of course you can wear this shirt with jeans/pants but why not with a skirt? So here you go, another idea for how to style it. I really love wearing shirts with slim skirts; I do it all the time. And this type of skirt is so great to travel/live in.
I’ve worn this shirt already a handful of times, and washed it once (don’t dry it). It travels really well, but does look a bit wrinkly after washing, FYI. I wore it in Costa Rica on the car drive, and here at home several times. I tuck it into my slouchy jeans, wear it buttoned all the way with my Eileen Fisher pants, keep it slightly unbuttoned at the bottom with skirts, and open like a jacket with shorts (at home!). It’s very versatile, and not too warm (although now that it’s in the low 90’s here, I’ll not be able to wear it very much…).
As with all Tradlands shirts, the buttons are closer together to prevent boob gap, and I love love love that the buttons are tonal and not white – they’re also thicker, with some substance, so they seem less likely to chip.
I tried the medium and the small and decided to keep the small because of the overall fit. I didn’t have to size up to fit my hips (same with the JJ tunic), which is great and something I really appreciate. I do have larger upper arms so it’s a teeny bit snug there when I first put it on, but it stretches a little and over time I don’t even notice.
I’m so happy to have a couple of great, versatile, and well-fitting shirts in my wardrobe now, thanks to Tradlands. I highly recommend them all, and hope you can try one or two! Please report back and let us know how you like them if you try one.

I’m so glad you introduced me to this brand! I got the Macba last week, and it is fantastic quality. The fit is great, too. My only complaint is that they don’t have more short sleeve options. I’d love a short sleeve button up. I will definitely be shopping for their long sleeve shirts in the fall.
I’m wondering about the fit in the shoulders. How do you feel the shoulders in the Small vs. the Medium? My torso is a S but my shoulders are a M, so I’m trying to figure out which size would be best in this shirt, as I think it would be perfect for my trip to France in June!
i would go with the medium then – i could have a teeny bit more room in the arms/shoulders, but i don’t have a super-big size discrepancy there anyway. since you do, i think you’d be happier with the medium. honestly, the medium would have been fine on me too, but i tend to size up too often, when i don’t really need to, and i wanted to avoid that this time; i just hate for things to look SO BIG and sloppy on me after wearing for a while, and that’s what seems to happen when i go for bigger. if that makes sense.
yes! more short sleeves…or, you know what i’d love? a sleeveless version of the jj tunic 🙂 with pockets !!!!
I love this look! Thanks for reminding me to wear button front shirts with skirts!!! 🙂
