wearing: Tess skirt | LnA t-shirt | LD Tuttle wedges | Jas M.B. bag | Dannijo necklace
As I mentioned in yesterday’s outfit post, I helped organize an event for local fashion bloggers at a new Austin designer’s (Tess) showroom last night. And I couldn’t come home empty-handed now, could I? We all got a chance to try pieces from the Tess collection on and while I wasn’t immediately drawn to this skirt (well, I was drawn to the color, but I was hoping it would be more a-line before I pulled it out) I tried it on anyway, and really loved it.
I feel like the pencil-style is very different for me, but not bad at all. Of course all the style “experts” tell you to look for a-line skirts if you’re hip-y at all, but I think this is a flattering silhouette, hips & all. This skirt is also not normally what you’d see on me (as I’m sure you thought when you opened this post), but I feel like I “Grechen-d” it up a bit with black wedges & a t-shirt. This skirt brings a touch of lady-like style to my wardrobe, which I’m looking forward to working with – especially as the weather cools off a bit and I can wear it with cardigans and blazers 🙂
Sadly, as I’m almost 39 years old, I’ve never owned a piece of lined clothing – pants or skirts. Now that I do, I really appreciate it. The rayon felt really good against my skin, and I loved not having to wear a slip, or shapewear underneath; it felt really good. Love this skirt!! Although I did keep wanting to put my hand in a pocket that wasn’t there…isn’t it funny how you get used to skirts/dresses having pockets, even though it’s only a recent phenomenon??
If you’d like at Tess dress (or skirt) of your own, use code “grechen20” for 20% off your order. You will not be sorry, I promise 🙂
Have a wonderful weekend!!!!!
