I say sort of because I haven’t worn these out yet, I’m still playing around with them to see if they work. I bought these Joe’s Jeans Ex Lover cropped jeans yesterday at Anthropologie because while I really dislike(d) the distressed, pegged, cropped denim look, I always like to try trends for myself…just to see how they work on me. And oy, did these work for me. First, they are the most comfortable pair of anything I’ve ever worn. Second, I really like the way they look on me.
I have to qualify that by saying that in real life, each outfit looks so much better than the pictures. I don’t ever get the angle right when I take pictures of myself, and isn’t it true that the camera adds 10 pounds?? I KNOW the cropped look is not ideal for my body shape, that combined with a looser fit all around doesn’t always work for pears, but I can’t help it, I love these on me. Did I mention how comfortable they are? (I also sized down a whole size – love that!!)
Here are some “outfits” I tried with the jeans:

So, if you’d care to, I’d love your input. I think I’ll keep them no matter what, but if you have any strong feelings either way, I’d love to hear them.

I think you look great! Just a rule of thumb that might be useful to you and maybe others – the cuff on a crop jean should ideally be 2-3″ above the ankle bone for the most flattering look. I tried this and it works!
that is absolutely true chantal…as these have stretched out, the hem actually falls right about 2 inches above my ankle bone – and i love the way it looks. thanks 🙂
I love the look grechen! The jeans really is flattering on you! Adding scarf or bold accessory around your neck would be fun too. I recently converted my roommate to try Joe’s jeans, too, she ended up loving the fit and now she says she can’t wear the jeans she used to wear.
Well, you should keep them! I like the 3rd look the best because I believe the nude sandals elongate the leg and everyone needs that with this tyle of jeans. The bag in the third look is great too. IMO, since it is a very casual look, the bag should be a show-stopper.

You know what I think of bright colored bags! I definately like look #3 the best because of the bag, but I agree … the heels are much more flattering to your legs and ankles. The flat sandles on the left give your lower legs a stunted look. I had always heard all the experts claiming that cropped pants and flats were a no no because they shorten your legs…now I see why.
My problem is that I am a cropped pants and flats gal myself 🙁
oh these are great! as you know i lived in mine last spring/summer, and will again this year. as for the old rule about cropped pants/flats, i say if you’re comfy and feeling it that day go for it, experts be damned! beigy heels/platforms, of course, would also go really well, as would a chunky black heel. have fun experimenting!
