James Perse casual tee | size 2
Simulacra organic cotton/bamboo terry trousers (gift to review) | size medium
James Perse exclusive (sold out) Birkenstock Arizona sandals
I took these photos after a full day of work, shooting new arrivals for SLOWRE, walking Dagny, eating pizza, etc. etc. I don’t have a bit of makeup on, and I don’t think I brushed my hair = reality.
And this is the third day in a row I’ve worn these pants. That’s what I do: I choose a pair of pants to wear for the week and put them on when I get up to take Dagny out, then wear them until Pure Barre, and if I don’t have anywhere to go during the day, I put them back on after my shower and wear them until bedtime. Since I got these pants they’ve been my go-to pants, but before that it was this pair (also by Simulacra).
Not that I wouldn’t wear these “out” – I would – but not if I’ve worn them several days at home first, I just have a “thing” against that. I’ve washed them already twice (never dried) and they’re holding up nicely. I do find that they stretch a little with wear, but not too much; they keep their shape generally and don’t ever look a mess. The pockets aren’t huge, but they’re sufficient for my phone, keys, treats and a bag when I take Dagny out.
As you can tell, they’re not super-slouchy on me in this size, but they’re slouchy enough, and if you have slimmer legs then they’ll be nice and slouchy on you if you take your true size. But the best thing? They’re RIDICULOUSLY soft and have a nice medium weight to them, so they’re not flimsy, and warm but not hot. Goldilocks pants? Perhaps.
Also, they’re made by an independent designer, responsibly (with 67% viscose from bamboo, 28% organic cotton and 5% spandex) in NYC. I’ve received other items from Simulacra to review, and they are all still on heavy rotation in my wardrobe. I wear the top to Pure Barre at least once a week, and I rotate the leggings now with these pants for home wear.
With the pants I’m wearing here, she also sent me this long sleeve twist top to try, but I sent it back. I tried both the medium and the large and I loved the fit generally, and the look, but I wished there was a little more room at the hips for me. Even the large was still a bit too snug. The top was lovely though, and I especially loved the neckline. If you’re smaller, or prefer a fitted long sleeve top, then I’d encourage you to try it.
Overall, I’m very happy with Simulacra for home/exercise wear, and am so pleased that I’ve been able to introduce the brand to you. And I know there are some other interesting pieces coming soon, so stay tuned!!
Grechen, I’m really tempted to get these pants. I’m a 12/14 in Eileen Fisher pants and a 32 in Paige denim. Do you think the large would work for me? This is why I get really confused with the Elizabeth Suzann pieces, because she shows a lot of different models who are my height and weight, but their sizes are all different. These pants look comfy and perfect for evenings, weekends, and any time I’m out with my dog. Thanks!
yes, i do think the large would work for you. they’d probably fit you like they fit me, just slightly fitted? but a little slouchy. which i like, but just be aware…you could definitely contact christine (https://www.simulacra.nyc/pages/contact) and ask her for measurements on the large also, she’s very helpful 🙂
Thank you! I think I’ll get them. 🙂
I might do the same since Christine and I sound like we have similar builds. Let us know what you think, Christine! I love them!
Hi ladies,
Our pants in size large are 32″ at the waist and 38″ at the hips. They are very stretchy, and the trouser pleat detail allows for a little more room around the pelvis. Depending on your hip measurements, they may be a little loose or snug, but the tapering near the ankles offers a cleaner line. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Hope this helps!
xx.

Grechen, I ordered the large pants and they arrived over the weekend. I washed and wore them yesterday, and was really pleased. The fit is similar to yours in the photo and they were perfect for a rainy evening. The pockets definitely come in handy for when I walk my dog, and they are stretchy and comfortable without being constricting. I personally don’t wear leggings out and about, but I’d feel comfortable wearing these with a longer tunic or cardigan. I’m glad I got them and Christine sent me a very sweet note. Thank you so much for your help, too! 🙂
oh! was going to check in with you about that – i’m SO GLAd you’re happy with them 🙂 i have been so pleased with them.
thanks for reporting back!!
