Here it is…the pixie. Or, just a super-short haircut if you prefer. It’s really not a lot different than my last haircut, but it’s completely different than it looked yesterday! I’d let it grow out too much, and the color really needed a pick-me-up, so after my cut, I went to target and picked up the John Frieda foam color and did it myself. I thought this cut needed a bold color, like Gennifer’s dark or Michelle’s light. And while I was tempted to go lighter, I am afraid to do that myself…so that will have to wait until I can get my color done at the salon.
Anyway, I’m happy with the cut; I still have a lot of hair to play around with and style different ways. I’m glad I did it, although I was a teeny bit nervous and excited at the same time this morning. Not because I didn’t think I’d like it, but I was worried about what my husband would think – and “society” in general. Especially here in Austin, hair is LONG here. And try to find many other fashion bloggers with very short hair…
That’s another issue for another time perhaps, but I’m never going back to long hair. Shorter hair suits my face shape better, and it just FEELS SO GOOD!! Try it, you might like it 😉
I am loving the new hair! It looks great on you!
Adorable cut! I had mine short back in 1995. I recall them turning me back to the mirror and the first thing I saw was my mother! LOL
But because of my wave and curls I can’t keep it straight so I grew it back out. If mine were straight I’d do this! The photo I took with me back then was one of Josie Bisset!
OK>.I want the Wang dress but wish I could still find it in the Sienna!
i haven’t seen one in that color for a while…i was surprised that Sydney found it on the outnet in navy blue, i thought they were all gone!!
thanks april!! just checked out your blog and found a new obsession: those bow flip-flops!! and i don’t even like bows. or flip flops 😉
I love it on you! I agree, it looks so cute on your face, definitely flattering! I’ve resorted to coloring my hair at home the lately, and the results have mostly been good. Nice way to save a buck.
Love this haircut on you, love that it is perfect for your face shape, so flattering!
Ooooo!!!! I just knew that it would look great on you! And it does. And the color is perfect and shiny. I want to run out and find the John Frieda haircolor now. Like, RIGHT NOW (10:40pm…I think I’m out of luck). Mine is so faded and yours looks so even and healthy. Did you like JF’s color? Easy to do? I’m curious, because I can’t pay $150 to get mine colored every 6 weeks (esp. when it really needs it every 4!). Love the outfit, too. You radiate happiness!
Your new haircut is HAWT.

thanks Val! i’ve used the john frieda foam color several times, and i like how easy it is to use. pretty foolproof actually. my problem is getting the gray at my temples/by my ears though, it never seems to cover them well enough there, but maybe i’m just doing it wrong…
try it!! i like it for in between salon colors, and it’s a good base for highlights.
That’s my exact problem, too. I never seem to be able to get the gray coverage I want in certain areas. I’ll try it. It sounds pretty easy! Thx!
Short hair looks perfect on you! I remember the last time I cut my hair short, I was horrified. For me long hair is easier to maintain and I am lazy (I go to the hairdresser about once a year…ups)

I’m with you on the short hair. “Society” can go fly a kite.

well put 😉
I love the hair! It looks so great on you – it suits your face so well! I’m jealous – I tried the pixie (well, the faux-hawk) six years ago and quickly learned that it does not suit my face AT ALL. But, as people pointed out to me back then (unprompted, I might add – it was that bad), hair grows. It’s always good to take a risk now and again . . . . Good luck with your quest for the perfect product!
I just found your blog and I LOVE IT!! I’m over 40 and just lost a bunch of weight and am now getting into fashion BIG TIME and I was very pleased to find your website that gives great fashion advice for the NON 20-somethings.
I have been working my way through all your posts and I just had to say that I ADORE your hair short. You are much more stunning with the short hair/pixie than the more severe bands/bob cut. The bob cut was gorgeous, dont get me wrong, but did NOTHING to accentuate your beauty!
