Damn. I sure know how to pick ’em. This pullover by James Perse was something I just added to my Shopbop order as an afterthought during Friends & Family last week, but it might be my favorite thing from the box! Maybe my favorite thing EVER! No, I can’t really choose favorites, my entire order was REALLY good, as is everything JP I own, π But this sweatshirt is AMAZING, true to what I love so much about James Perse: the fit. I got a size 2 and it fits me beautifully everywhere. The neckline is perfect, just slightly draped, but it also gives a slight boatneck look, which I really love, and think is so flattering. You know why I don’t own any of the “regular” sweatshirts by James Perse? They’re either crewneck or just slightly scooped, and I try to avoid crewneck as much as possible. This top is different than the regular JP sweatshirt because of the dolman sleeves and fitted bottom, but it’s so much better than the sweatshirt IMO. For me anyway!
So, question: I know, I’ve mentioned adding a message board here before, and I know you guys really want it, but it’s a PITA to add to the site. I was thinking about buying a new domain name and starting a dedicated James Perse “fan” site with a community already built in. Would you participate in that? I think it could also incorporate other brands we love here, but it would be primarily for all things James Perse: where to buy, reviews, discussion, etc.
For example, the top I’m wearing is the same top here, and they look completely different. I’m assuming the model sized up, and Nordstrom doesn’t list the content (mine is 100% cotton), but I’m sure it’s the same top. I’d love to have a dedicated place to post about stuff like that and discuss. What do you think?
Oh, and seriously. Get this top. Size up if you want it to look like the Nordstrom model, but take your regular size if you want it to be more fitted. I wanted fitted, especially with dolman sleeves, my waist can get lost with those!
That top looks great! So pleased you’re excited about a last-minute purchase.
I’d love a JP fan site and would definitely participate. Great idea! It was my online search for JP that led me to your site in the first place. π
The top is adorable!
But why do you avoid the crew neck or scoop neck sweatshirts?
I only have the JP sweatshirt dress and have yet to try the sweatshirt.
But I usually need a scoopneck.
I just don’t like the way crewnecks look on me – at least not as much as cowl or v-neck.
I’m curious about some of the cowl neck JP dresses. There were a few on Hautelook today that sold out.
yeah, i was pretty disappointed in that sale. i had stuff in my cart, then the site went down and i lost it. of course everything sold out instantly.
i never tried the cowl neck dresses that were part of the sale, but i’ve tried the new one on – this one – and i was never crazy about it on me. i think because it was just way too big on top for my taste…
Needless to say, I’m “in” for the new James Perse site! I’ll definitely participate. I feel the same way about crewnecks and prefer cowls. I feel they’re more flattering. I want that sweatshirt and those pants. Again, you look incredibly comfy.
I’m a v-neck, scoop or boat-neck person (And this cowl counts as a boat-neck for me…you can reframe almost anything to make it work for you!) Basically, everything about this top and outfit is perfect: slouchy/louche, comfy, chic, black…and you look great! Hopefully, I’ll find this one on sale. I can tell it’s a “keeper.”
