This post is going to be full of random-ness, so here goes –
Since I mentioned my love for Mephisto yesterday, I thought I’d wear them in an outfit today π I think this outfit would look equally good with the Birkenstock Arizona sandals don’t you? Maybe in grey?
It’s time for me to get my color done again; I have about an inch of root growth, although most of the time, it’s not very noticeable, so I’m trying to push getting it done out as far as possible, but I don’t think I can wait much longer. When I do get my color done this time, I’m going all out blonde. Well, not BLONDE BLONDE, more ScarJo blonde. Actually I’m going for her entire look here, cut, color…but I don’t want my hair stacked in the back like she has. My hair isn’t quite long enough yet to look like that, and my bangs aren’t grown out completely, but I think I’m at least ready to try the color. It’s a BIG color change for me, though, I’ve stuck with browns mostly the last 20 years. I was bleach blonde for a little while in grad school, but my hair was also VERY VERY short, and it looked terrible, so I’m not judging the blonde in that experiment. I’m really looking forward to the change; I’m pretty bored with my hair right now, growing the bangs out, so a drastic new color will hopefully tide me over for a while…
The shirt I’m wearing today is my new favorite (it also comes in a striped version!!); I can wear it with my Ridgestripe skirt from Madewell among other things. It’s a bit warm to wear a lot right now unless I’m going to be inside, but I love the drape and it’s oversized-ness (as if that was a word…). It’s big, and only appropriate with something fitted and short on the bottom in general, although I get that it’s still not THE MOST FLATTERING top style on me. It’s comfortable though, and hides my saddlebags because I DO NOT WANT TO WEAR SPANX. Thank you.
Finally, my James Perse pencil skirt is too big on me; it doesn’t hold me in like it used to and I just feel like there’s a lot of extra fabric/drape that’s hard to work with lately. It’s a size 3, in very good condition if anyone’s interested in buying it. Leave a comment or email me if you’re interested in more details.
I was going to ask how the weight-loss is going, but it appears to be going well! That top definitely looks oversized!
I would actually be interested in buying your skirt…, as I’ve mentioned in other comments, I love mine so much I think I need a backup.
Oh man, Scar Jo’s choppy bob is one of my ALL TIME favorite haircuts… to the point that I have these two “how to” articles saved on my computer to consult at a moment’s notice π

Love the ScarJo hairstyle you pinned. I’m working toward a slightly shorter version of that. And love this whole outfit on you; it all works so well together. Really cute skirt! (I ordered the Mephistos in the pewter metallic.)
love the pewter metallic helens, can’t wait to see an outfit post, if it ever warms up π
btw, you were some of the inspiration for my deciding to take the plunge and go blonde. i LOVE your new color…
dude. it’s kind of scary how we are always on the same wavelength. π
and i didn’t know the oribe guy did her hair. i love the dry texturizing spray – i love all of his stuff, but hate how expensive it is…
I’m unfamiliar with James Perse brand. Could you tell me what RTW sizes his 1-4 sizing corresponds to ?
Love your blog Grechen!
Generally I’ve found that 1=xs, 2=s, 3=m and 4=l. But i also think his sizing runs a bit bigger than some, so when I was a 12-14, most size 4’s fit. Now I wear size 2 mostly, and I am not small…
Hope that helps! If you have questions about specific pieces, ask!
Hi Grechen!
I really like your blog! I was searching on Mephisto Helen and came across this post. You make them look so chic. I’d love to feature them on my blog about comfortable, stylish shoes for women, BarkingDogShoes.com. Could I link to this post?
hi kirsten – of course you can link to this post! thank you for asking π
