James Perse shirred tube skirt (size 1) | 25% off at Shopbop
Rag & Bone/JEAN striped top (medium) | 25% off at Shopbop
Robert Clergerie Valbert bag
Emerson Fry slides (gift for review several years ago) | sold out, open-toe version at Garmentory
I wore this outfit to lunch/errands with Leo when it was cool enough during the day to actually wear sleeves, and closed-toe shoes. Ah…those were the days. I don’t know why I forget how weird the weather is in October here: we have days where it’s in the 70’s, and then days, like yesterday, where it’s in the low 90’s. This heat wears me out.
Anyway, both these pieces are available at Shopbop during their big event at 25-30% off depending on how much you spend (expires tomorrow!), and I highly recommend both of them. The top is medium-weight, and cropped with a raw, rolled hem that is slightly distressed. I choose the medium because it is a little longer and I preferred the roomier fit, but I tend to wear small in Rag & Bone/JEAN tops (like the Camden which I LOVEEEEE).
And the skirt is a total workhorse, which you probably know already if you’re a James Perse fan. I took a size 1 in this, which is a size down from my “normal” JP size, although it might actually be my size now, I can’t decide. I am wearing spanx with this skirt because I feel more comfortable with a little extra compression.
So, what have you bought from the Shopbop sale? anything? I haven’t purchased anything yet. Maybe I won’t. 30% off is very hard to pass up, but I feel sort of ‘meh’ about a lot right now. Although black jeans were on my wishlist for fall (can you believe I don’t have a pair?) and this pair by Goldsign looks exactly like what I want. We’ll see, I usually push it to the last day anyway, so I’ll let you know tomorrow!
I am in love with that skirt and have been wanting a great “workhorse” skirt, but the weather is just getting cold enough where I probably wouldn’t wear it until April or so… so I’ll probably wait on it. The one thing I was really wanting to buy from Shopbop were the Frye Dara Chelsea boots, but (such is my luck), they’re excluded from the sale. Sigh.
I just bought a few ES items, Everlane cashmere and one of their silk dresses (to layer over skinnies), so I think I might be “good” for items right now, as tempting as the Shopbop sale is (and as much as my FOMO is kicking in right about now…)
man. that FOMO. especially for 30% off!!
what did you get from ES?
I got the Cecilia pants (I desperately needed new black pants) and the L/S Harper Tunic in the black raw silk. There are more items I’ve got my eye on, but I think those will fill out my winter wardrobe for now. I do need a new wool sweater though… so I might splurge on the Harper Wool tunic later, but we’ll see what my funds look like in December!
i can’t wait to wear my cecilia pants more now, whenever it cools off. i wore them a week or so ago when it was a little cooler and i loved them! once i get used to back zipper that is…
i love that l/s harper tunic, i was looking at the harper dress in raw silk actually…although i know i won’t wear it in cooler weather, although in my head i will. they’re sending me the harper wool sweater actually – i’m going to talk more about that tomorrow, but they wanted me to review the new wool they’re using 🙂 and i gladly accepted!!
Grechen, thanks for the heads up on the Shopbop sale! So after much thought and a little dilly dallying I finally ended up buying that JP skirt ‘cuz I know I will definitely get tons of wear out of it and I love how it looks on you. I also bit the bullet on a beautiful red coat by Edition 10. Never heard of the brand but the coat is a wool/alpaca/mohair blend and the color was gorgeous and I’ll be going to NYC in Feb so hoping this will keep me warm enough. That’s it for shopping for myself this year (I think!) At least my wallet says so 😉
henny, that coat is so beautiful!!! and i love the red 🙂 i couldn’t wear it, but i would admire it from afar…
i hadn’t heard of that brand before it showed up on shopbop either, but i like some of their stuff. i was looking at the cardigan/scarf thingie, for myself, actually. i LOVE THOSE BIG POCKETS
I just love you in a straight midi, and those mules are amazing. You are my style goalz <3.
Hi Gretchen– I meant to tell you that I ordered the striped top you showed from Garmentory and I absolutely love it! I definitely agree with you that some stripes can be way too busy for those of us used to solids. The top was perfect (and the one on you today looks great too). Thanks as always for your wonderful, thoughtful posts. I bought the bird book you recommended but so far haven’t used it but hope to go on some nice long hikes this fall. Have a great day, Beth
Oh yay! Can’t wait to read your review!!
Great outfit!!! Black AND stripes…2 of my favorites. Plus, the chic tote and slides are great to interject a dose of personality.
I haven’t purchased anything. I didn’t see F & F coming, so I made some purchases last week. But I always purchase on-Sale or with a coupon code, so I did ok.
