My best frustrated face…
Also, this is how the pants look after a full day of wear, actually a few days of wear total, since I haven’t washed them yet. I haven’t worn them outside the house yet. In all honesty, I haven’t even LEFT THE HOUSE in several days. I’ve just been super-busy here and with Slowre (new arrivals today!!) AND a lot of my outings have to do with eating food, and since I can’t do that lately, I don’t go out much. Weird. haha.
Anyway, the pants stretch out a bit, but not enough to size down. And still, they’re not the easiest to get up over my hips. Once they’re on, they’re not snug at all, it’s just getting them there. Oh, and the cotton canvas is a LINT/DOG HAIR/PEOPLE HAIR MAGNET. FYI if you have white animals at home…
This post is about the shoes though, and I can say after just having them one day that I really like them. As a recap, I can’t really wear ankle boots, or regular boots, since I don’t have ankles and my calves are extra wide. I also don’t like to wear socks. So, I wanted to try these shoes and see if they would be a good boot + sock alternative for me, to keep my ankles a little warmer in winter weather. And yes, yes they are, although, I will wear thin socks with these (Smartwool FTW) for a little more warmth.
I took a size 7.5 which is a half size smaller than my usual size, and they feel perfect on, without socks, and FIT with socks, but I don’t think I need to take the size 8 to wear with socks. But if you do want to wear socks with them consistently, consider staying with your true shoe size. I wore them 6-8 hours yesterday at home, and I was on my feet for a lot of that time taking photographs, clothing measurements, etc. so I gave them a good run. They’re very comfortable overall, I never wanted to take them off.
At the end of the day, after everything, I did start to feel like it was time to take them off. Also, my feet were freezing because I hadn’t been wearing socks with them and was sitting a while in the kitchen, where it is pretty cold.
So, just from having/wearing these one day, I like them, and would recommend them if you’re looking for a simple, minimal pair of knit high-top sneakers like this. They are an interesting look, for sure, and not for everyone, but I think they’re really cool, and also love them with my Florence pants, and my slim/flare jeans. They’re not necessarily a wear-with-everything shoe, but you can wear them with enough if you’re so inclined.
But speaking of Elizabeth Suzann – shoes and knits went on sale, the Patti shell is on sale for $110, ES sent me one to review when it launched and I love it. See outfits here, and here.
Happy Wednesday!!
One question: did your feet sweat? Probably not, since you said you were cold…..but I am concerned about wearing such an all enveloping plastic shoe. Or is it actually airy? Please advise 😉
I love this look (I’m a sucker for good stripes)! And I’m glad those shoes are working for you.
I almost pulled the trigger on the Patti shell but reminded myself I’m not buying anything this month. And I don’t need it. I’m holding out for something that fills a hole in my wardrobe – desperately want ES to make the Lara top in black raw silk!
no sweating LOL
i felt like they are pretty airy since my feet were cold after sitting in the kitchen awhile…
that said, i would not in a million years wear these in the summer. but i don’t really wear sneakers in the summer anyway. after 75 degrees i’m in mules or sandals only
she’s not doing raw silk anymore though, is she?
i was trying to decide what ES pieces i want this year, and think i prefer the lara top or the linn to the georgia – the sleeves on the georgia bother me, do they really stick out that much in real life??
i will be posting more about my 2018 shopping “plans” tomorrow LOL
No raw silk, but since I might as well dream big!
I have 3 versions of the Georgia top – raw silk (my favorite), linen gauze (feels a little “narrower” than the rest due to the nature of the fabric I think), and a hemp/silk blend (bought of eBay). I know what you mean about the sleeves and no, I don’t think they stick out as much in real life. Maybe in the mid-weight linen they do. I think the Linn would be too boxy for me.
Looking forward to hearing about your 2018 plan. I haven’t really planned beyond January!
Love the photos with Dagny. That striped top looks great on you–perfect with the pants. The cardigan looks so cozy.
thank you!! she was so funny while i was taking these pictures, she was antsy to get outside and trying to get my attention.
Great photo! I love that stripped shirt on you. Hope you are feeling better.
Thumbs up on the outfit!
She’s so cute, I love when dogs (or cats) insert themselves in the middle of a situation.
Last question (I swear!) Is there arch support? If not, can the inner sole be taken out so that arch support can be put in? (Don’t know why I didn’t think of all my questions at one go. My brain is soooooo lazy.)
There is very moderate arch support and yes the insoles can be removed. More questions? 🙂
Love that striped top with the Clydes!!
I almost pulled the trigger on the ES light colored knit kimono…but then I wisely decided to wait and order the Clyde trench in flax linen toward the end of February. I like the option of pockets. My jewelry would snag the knit, or my 3 cats and 2 dogs would. And the flax linen is like a miracle fabric…washes like a dream.
My olive Transcience tote comes today and I can’t wait to see and start using it!!
you know, i love my rebekka kimono, but i do think other things are more versatile 😉 good idea to wait!
can’t wait to hear about your tote! and want to hear how the olive is in person!
Playing catch-up again! (Long story short: I’ve been having some health issues, a shitload of medical tests and haven’t had the energy to get to everything.)
I LOVE this! Of course, you knew I would, stripes and all. The shoes are really cute with the outfit…not for me, but I think you wear them well.
It’s like when you’re on the phone and your little kids start to act up to get your attention! 😉
i have missed you!!!!!!
sorry about your health issues 🙁
