WEARING
Splendid skirt/dress | worn as a dress – last seen as a skirt here – size medium (I also have this in black)
Vintage Wrangler denim shirt
Ishvara sandals | I really love these, but wish they came in half-sizes, they’re just a teeny bit big
Admonish custom leather bag (website coming soon 🙂 )
In all the years I’ve had this Splendid skirt/dress, I’ve never worn it as a dress, which is surprising, because I LOVE any piece of clothing that serves two purposes. I didn’t wear it as a dress, because I thought I resembled a stuffed sausage trying to wear a tube top essentially, but now, I think I can pull it off. I still don’t think I’ll wear it alone (without anything over it) – I have NEVER EVER bared my shoulders completely, but also because I’d be afraid it would fall down. Although today I’m wearing a Cosabella strapless bra underneath that the top really clings to, so I don’t think it’s going anywhere…
I take this skirt with me whenever I go on vacation because it’s so easy (I wore it a lot in Rome), but now that I know I can wear it as a dress, it’ll do double duty. Although I’m weird when I’m traveling; I don’t like to wear things too many times, or count on wearing them too many times, because what if they get dirty? or I don’t feel like it again? I know, space is of the essence when planning a travel wardrobe, therefore, one thing that can be worn two ways/days is ideal, but like I said, I’m weird about that! Next time I travel, I’ll make a point to bring it and wear it multiple days and report back how I did.
What do you have in your closet that can multi-task? Do you often bring things with you when you travel you can wear multiple ways?
I love it as a dress on you. And the chambray shirt makes the outfit all come together. Plus, you’re having a GREAT hairday!! (more touseled) When I just traveled to Chicago, I tried to plan outfits that I could mix and match, even if it meant wearing an item again. I didn’t want to bring more than a carry-on, even tho the trip was a week long. I did it! I didn’t really feel like I was missing anything, but in retrospect, I could have used a skirt (maxi) to vary things up a bit. I kind of felt like my jeans could have walked into the room by themselves at the end of the week…;-)
You know, now that you mention it, I don’t think I own one piece that can multi-task. I’m a dreadful packer, too. Always pack way too much, because I hate wearing the same thing over again (especially after a full day of wear).
Dresses, definitely, for most versatile. It’s a dress…or a top…or a skirt. I’ve had run remixing along this theme. Debbie @ ilovemylemonadelife
This is such a great look on you! Glad you finally decided to wear it as a dress because it definitely works on you.

I really love that – have a dress just like it with straps – but how does that double as a skirt? Wouldn’t it be WAY long?
the top part folds over, and then i usually wear it pretty high up on my waist so it’s not too long. you can fold it over more or less, depending on how long you want the skirt. it’s brilliant, really 🙂
this is my problem too. i usually even take enough jeans so i don’t have to wear the same ones twice…but i’m going to have to stop doing that; i’ve got to get my over-packing under control…
Comfort and versatility…love it …love it…love it!! It always great when you find and outfit that you can take anywhere and it feels as good as it looks.
You found the prefect travel outfit. I have my travel outfits and I would even think of leaving for a trip without them!! By the way… love your hair… great cut that looks like it easy to maintain. Congrats!!!
