Sunja Link palm print dress | medium, made in Canada (gift to review from Seven Sisters)
Birkenstock Arizona Sandals
Eh. It’s Monday. And it’s raining. And I ate popcorn for dinner last night. With a kombucha/vodka tonic. So….I’m feeling very, well, Monday, today.
But I have some randomness:
Elizabeth Suzann is relaunching all sizes/colors of the new mules on Wednesday. I keep going back and forth on whether or not to order a pair of these. I love them, and would order the limestone pair, for a lighter shoe, but I’m thinking that if I buy another pair of shoes this fall, it should be the Rachel Comey Mars mules, for a little height. Then again, there’s a reason why I don’t buy shoes with “heels” anymore – I don’t love to wear them…
Everlane launched lots of new stuff today, silk, Japanese shirting…I love the Japanese oxford square shirt, and the idea of the bib shirt, but the fit looks way off to me; I think it should be longer and less slim.
I bought the Kjaer Weis mascara to try over the weekend. I haven’t used it yet though, but I’m excited about it. I love that it’s refillable most of all.
If you haven’t watched Stranger Things on Netflix yet, DO IT. I loved it, and am sad it’s over (I binge watched it over the weekend a couple of weekends ago. That’s the problem with binging on Netflix, it’s over too soon!)
Oh, and this outfit: I have worn this dress quite a bit, mostly when I want to feel a little “fancy” – like when we have friends over for dinner, or when I go to brunch. I also wear it around the house with my Birkenstocks. Double duty 🙂
Happy Monday!! Tell us something random you bought, tried, did or want to do/buy/watch!
So I got my Everlane luxe cropped shirt in black, and I really like it so far – I haven’t tried it on with all my stuff yet, but I liked the feel of the fabric, and I actually liked the length. I go back and forth between small and medium with them, so I got the small since I didn’t want it to be *too* slouchy, but I was worried it would be too short. Thankfully it’s not! I think it’s going to be a nice work shirt for me. I just need to be careful about washing it, I have washed some other tencel/lyocell items before and they did just fine, but you never know.
Friends, family, even strangers – you all keep telling me to watch Stranger Things. 🙂 And I will! I just need to finish Clone Wars.
I got the loveliest navy blue linen fabric in the other day and I’m about to make a caftan dress. They seem like a perfect summer dress! So comfy looking. 🙂
Ooh Kombucha/vodka tonic sounds pretty good. Do you make it with one part of each? And I think I’m over Everlane’s square shirt styles though I did order the Japanese GoWeave top since that looked pretty interesting. Anyways hope your Monday blahs get better! I’m feeling a bit of the same this morning (but that’s because I stayed up til 2am watching movies, doh!). Oh and thanks for the Slowre pay out today 😀
I’m interested to hear what you think about the Japanese GoWeave fabric. I once bought a top from somewhere else that was triacetate, and I hated it. It felt like plastic and it was really hot. So I’m curious if Everlane’s triacetate feels different.
re, the kombucha/vodka tonic, i think part of the problem last night was that i didn’t measure the vodka at all 🙁
i usually almost fill my glass with kombucha then add a splash or two of vodka, but something went awry last night LOL – i also use a little lime juice.
oh, i’m interested in your review of the goweave top, i’ve wanted to try one of those styles, but nothing ever seemed interesting enough!
you’re welcome for the SLOWRE payout – thanks for consigning with me !!
i think your problem with the kombucha and vodka was that you had only popcorn with it, gotta eat something more substantial, girl 🙂
haha. yes. that too… 🙂
This dress is the cutest. YOU are the cutest. That is all.
Got the Elizabeth Suzann Harper tunic today. I can’t wait to wear it. The linen is so lux and thick. Been wearing lots of EF linen dresses the past few days as its been so hot.
Love vodka and kombucha. It’s almost Paleo 🙂
And love love this dress. I almost ordered it but stopped myself because of the print. I tend to get tired of prints quickly and know this would end up on Slowre or Poshmark in a few months.
Go with your gut and stick with the low heals. Your feet and wallet will thank you. The ES ones are beautiful but I don’t do well with mules. I prefer a strap in the back.
Ok, so I have to fess-up. I thought I should check out Everlane again and maybe give it another try. I ordered the relaxed cashmere sweater in charcoal gray and it seems pretty nice. Not as soft as my J Crew cashmere, but you’ve said it softens up over time, Grechen. It was one of the “choose your price” items, and I think it may have been a men’s sweater by the cut of the neckline. I wish they would’ve just said that. I like the look of a few of the new things, but 100% silk? No way!!! My cotton square shirt washed up nicely, btw.
i think that sweater was just one of their new “slouchy” cashmere styles – but it could have been a men’s sweater, i don’t know. i ordered one of those for my sister last year and she loves hers. my everlane cashmere that’s years old is ridiculously soft by now, i can’t wait to start wearing it again…
glad you’re trying at least 🙂
yes, i love the harper tunic, and elizabeth suzann’s linen. so good…
the print is what keeps me from wearing it more often also, to be honest. i love it, and find it a very “grechen” print, but it’s still a print LOL
I finally ordered a piece from Noctex, I really like the mission and aesthetics of this small company. Hopefully the quality is there too.
I ordered this tunic: https://www.shopnoctex.com/collections/dresses/products/bite-tunic
It looks like it’s very wearable and being on the short side I appreciate the use of a slightly smaller (5’6″) model.
oh, thanks for posting that link! THIS SWEATER!!!! https://www.shopnoctex.com/collections/shop-womens/products/mel-sweater-slate – i am such a sucker for thumbholes 🙂
please report back on your tunic, I’d love to know what you thought of the service/fit/style.
I received the tunic yesterday. I’m really happy with the service, given that it was shipped Canada Post and had to go through customs it arrived quickly. At this point I have only tried it on, it’s well made with an interesting design (I love the super long, slim sleeves with thumbhole). It’s a comfortable dress and over the right bottom works as a long tunic. I tried it on with a pair of cropped pants and really liked the look. I haven’t tried it on with jeans yet but think that will be less successful. This is my first clothing item made from viscose so I have a hard time evaluating the quality of the material, it’s substantial and seems good. Sizing is S/M or M/L and I ordered the M/L. I’m typically a medium and wasn’t sure which size to order, I probably should have gone for the S/M but it looks good in this size so I won’t exchange.
nice! thanks for the review.
i love viscose, but don’t have much of it anymore, i’ve never found exactly the right piece I guess…it seems like a very good silk alternative
