Why does it feel like such a Monday? Maybe because I didn’t work AT ALL this weekend. Not on work, work anyway. I went through bathroom cabinets and closets and threw away everything that needed to be thrown away, and took for donation things that could be donated. I’ve started putting some things in boxes, but I usually wait until about a week ahead of the official move date to REALLY pack things.
My sister was here for part of Saturday also, so before she left for the airport we went to the mall to see if we could find her some casual work-appropriate clothing for the conference the company is attending this November in Denver. (I can’t wait for that!! Of course I’m tagging along…).
Since I’ve managed to get all the other women in my family into Eileen Fisher we stopped in there after Nordstrom (we didn’t find much at Nordstrom). I wanted her to try on the stretch crepe pants; I thought she would love them – they are PERFECT for traveling, and wearing with so many different things. She did, indeed, love them, and a couple of sale items too. This recycled polyester “sweatshirt” was particularly good – VERY cute on her!! She also got this organic linen sweater, which was also a great piece on her.
I love how Eileen Fisher can fit so many different body types. You do have to try on ALL OF THE SIZES though, to find the correct one, and sometimes it’s tricky, but usually you’ll end up with something that fits very well. My sister, for reference, has a very different body type than I do: she is bustier, holds more weight around her stomach, and has slim legs/hips/butt, so she chose some things that don’t work as well on me, but were perfect on her.
Oh, and while we were at Eileen Fisher, I met a reader! That hardly ever happens – maybe three or four times over the last 13 years? – but I get so excited when it does; it’s like we’re instant friends. Incidentally if you’re local to DFW I’m going to be attending an Eileen Fisher event at Northpark mall on the 23rd. I forget exactly what it’s for, but when I get more information I’ll pass it on. It would be fun to see some of you there!
I hope you all had great weekends. And maybe aren’t feeling as “Monday” as I am today??
I will be at that conference in Denver in November! And funny, I have already started thinking about what I’m going to wear too…
What?? You’ll be at SC? We must get together then!!
That would be so fun! I couldn’t get a hotel near the convention center – they were all out of my company’s price range by the time I reserved, so I’m a few miles away, but that means I will have a car! I haven’t been to Denver in 20 years, so basically I know nothing about it now.
we won’t be near the convention center either, all the rooms were sold out, or like you said, too much $$$ –
it was so nice in salt lake city last year being right across the street! not that i spent a lot of time in the convention hall, but still.
i have never been to denver – i’m so excited to go 🙂
Your sister scored some really cute tops and a great pair of basic pants. I’m sure that it’s fun for her to go shopping with you – your advice and grasp of quality & style is great! And how fun that you met a reader! One of my high points of the summer was meeting up with Kim France (former editor in chief of Sassy and Lucky magazines) and another reader from the East Hampton area and we chatted over coffee and then SHOPPED!!! It was so much fun!
It felt like “the Mondays” to me, too, so after all of my errands, I treated myself to a mani/pedi. It’s amazing how cute red toes can make everything better.
You need to do a Denver meetup!
I am SO JEALOUS that you got to hang out with Kim! As a teenager I wanted nothing more than to work for a fashion magazine, and when Sassy came out I was obsessed….
YES! as soon as I know more details on dates, etc., i’ll try to figure something out you’re relatively local, any ideas where we should meet?
She is so nice! Easy to talk to ad down to earth. And does she have the EYE!!!!
