I really love some elements of the menswear-for-women trend; oversized sweaters & loafers specifically. But if I’m going to try and pull this off again, I’ll have to get a women’s oversized sweater – the arms on this one are so long, which was NOT easy to deal with. All day I was rolling the sleeves back up and trying to keep them out of the way while I was typing…
And I LOVE my loafers. They’re less delicate than ballet flats, but still flat – and great to walk in.
But I think this is a tough trend for men to “get.” I know my husband doesn’t understand it because why would women want to look like men? Which I think is generally a false argument to start – we’re not trying to look like men, we’re just adopting some “typically” mens clothing items as our own and trying out a specific style. That’s all.
Do you “do” menswear-as-women’s wear? Have you adopted some individual items into your wardrobe?
*pardon my “I’m freezing and it’s taking too long to get a good outfit shot” look. I was freezing and do you KNOW how long it takes to get a good picture of the outfit AND my face? 😉 I just gave up and went with the good outfit picture…
I love to do it – but my husband hates it. He wants me in something that shows curves – but if I could I’d wear warm, cozy sweaters all winter long – and it looks good on you.
Nah, not really into the menswear trend. I mean, I could do it if say it was a traditional menswear print or pattern, but worked into a feminine style like a pencil skirt and fitted blazer. You do look super cozy in your hubby’s sweater though! 😉

I don’t care what’s in or what’s out, because for me, an oversized chunky sweater will ALWAYS be in for me. And I have a pair of Sam Edelman loafers that look just like that and they’re my most comfy pair of shoes in my closet! I’m wearing them with everything. I want to look like a woman, but feel comfy!
(are the J Brands new or from the “old” wardrobe? Love ’em on you!)
I’ve always tended towards menswear, and the men I attract seem to like it. The High WASP culture, I suppose. BTW, love those loafers:).
ha! the loafers are so cool…
