Lest anyone think I simply wear the same thing EVERYDAY and just change accessories, here’s something short for you. And speaking of wearing the same things – or same sort of things everyday – I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. I love having a “uniform” and things to choose from and wear that are similar, but different enough to be interesting.
I have never proclaimed myself a fashion or style blogger, or really thought that my outfits were anything special; I’m just a shopping blogger who posts outfits. As I mentioned before, I post what I actually wear, so maybe they’re a bit more boring than your average fashion bloggers outfit, but with me, what you see is what you get. I don’t pretty it up just for the blog π
So, here’s to wearing the same thing everyday *clink*!!
What’s your uniform? what type of outfit do you find yourself repeating often?
love this outfit (must steal cardigan!) and you seem to have a firm grasp on your style and what looks good on you versus some of the more disjointed, over the top styles out there. If fashion is part of creating your identity then I think you’ve got a handle on it.
First of all, you totally do not wear the same thing every day! You do have a very distinct style though, and that is awesome. I like knowing that I can look at a piece of clothing and go “Wow, that is so Grechen.” You know what looks good on you and what makes you feel good and you wear it. That’s what true style is!!
i love your confidence and that you don’t apologize for being who you are. you really inspire me. thank you!
You look absolutely AMAZING in that outfit! You have the tiniest waist–I am SO jealous!! (remember when Barbara Walters asked Katherine Hepburn what tree she would be if she were a tree? Kate famously answered, “An Oak!”, after looking at Barbara like she was nuts. Well, my point is, I’m an Oak–in shape!!)
This looks absolutely gorgeous on you. The fit of that dress is just perfect!
I love that you have a uniform! I wouldn’t say that I have a specific uniform but I also don’t find myself switching between leather shorts and prim dresses – nothing that extreme. If anything, my uniform is typically an A-Line dress of some sort because I find they suit my body best and I always feel good in them. The most important thing to me is that I feel good and I think everyone should feel the same way!
LOL at “that is so Grechen” – only because i hear that all the time. which isn’t a bad thing at all π
just like owl necklaces are SO Cathy…
absolutely katie!! i guess when i first moved to austin i tried to “fit in” by wearing pretty dresses and going outside my comfort zone, but i’ve found my true self again; the one who loves black skirts & dresses π
thank you val! oaks are my favorite trees; they’re sturdy & strong and always green π
thank sharon! although the cardigan was hot today π
LOL….I am certainly sturdy!!! And I practice being green (“it’s not easy being green…”)
i mean that in the BEST possible way!!!!
Is that dress still sold anywhere?
No, it’s a couple of years old…
Bummer! So pretty.
here it is on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/nwt-James-Perse-Black-Knit-Dress-174-sz-1-4-/110718004631?pt=US_CSA_WC_Dresses&var=&hash=item5f77de788e#ht_500wt_1108
You look so good in this outfit. I love every piece except I’m not a clog fan (I know that’s your thing). I agree that when you find clothing/looks that are flattering and comfortable, go with it at every opportunity. I live in a unique environment (resort island) and have my almost daily uniform of solid pastel or bright tee, shorts or capris and flip flops. Nothing fancy or out-there trendy so it always surprises me that I get a lot of complements. I think it goes back to being comfortable in your look. It changes your attitude and the way you carry yourself when you don’t have to worry about your clothes.
thanks π i know not everyone is into clogs!!
i always get the most compliments on my outfits when i FEEL good in them. confidence is always the best accessory!! you are SO right.
Thanks, Grechen! You’re one of the most kind-hearted people I’ve met. (I just tend to be self-deprecating!!)
Gretchen, you rock! Thank you for finding that. You wear some of the cutest clothes. I wear the same colors and styles so I love reading your blog. It’s inspiration.
I LOVE this outfit! I really want that cardigan and necklace, but the whole look is impeccable. π
