Raquel Allegra Joni poet dress (size 1) | sold out, lots of good secondhand Raquel Allegra at The Real Real
Birkenstock Arizona sandals (I purchased these secondhand)
Whoa. I look tired and swollen, and…tired, here, don’t I? I did shower. Didn’t brush my hair or put anything on my face yet though. And yes, I am tired. I’m just upstairs in my office trying to work on new arrivals for slowre today and photographing all the newest items for next week (FYI, there’s 5-6 pieces of OS and OSP linen Elizabeth Suzann coming next week – and some small ES launching at 11 AM CST today!). I am going to meet a friend in a little while and take back my Nordstrom order so I had to get dressed to go “out.” Might as well document it LOL.
I don’t know how we do it, pregnant women, make it through these last few weeks. I know my doctor isn’t inclined for me go past 40 weeks (just increased potential for complications), so I only have 2.5 more weeks of this, but some women go to 41 weeks or a few days after. HOW???
Again, all things considered, this pregnancy has gone so well for me. All of my discomfort has been minor and relatively easy to deal with, and it’s seeming to zoom by at the end. Still, I’m ready for this part to be over and move on to the next.
We did discuss induction for 39 weeks at this Monday’s dr. appointment though. I can’t say it’s not appealing to schedule the birth (as much as you can, the induction might not “take”) for a certain date, but I’m not inclined to induce unless something happens that puts me or the baby at risk between now and then. So far I’m dilated 2 cm, he weighs about 6.8 ounces and fluid levels are where they should be. So all is well.
I’ve started to eat 5-6 dates (which are natural pitocin) per day with some almonds or walnuts (yum!!), might try some raspberry leaf tea, and someone mentioned pineapple for the prostaglandins on Instagram – to help with natural induction. Along with the “other things”…Ahem. Can’t hurt to try any of these things I don’t think, and maybe they’ll hurry labor on a bit – after all, he’s “done” at this point haha, and could come any time, safely. We’re ready for him.
Happy Wednesday!!
don’t induce if you don’t have to, it can be VERY painful if your body isn’t ready!
agree – why induce? Is it generic Dr paranoia? You have done so well!! he will want outta there, trust me. Give some control over to the part of nature we cant control…..
As for getting a “natural”induction, this worked for me:
the full moon, an approaching hurricane, spoiled swordfish steak dinner and an entire key lime pie. Then a long walk………hello baby!
I love that dress! It’s so summery and flowy. Wish I had something like that when I was 38 weeks pregnant! Which I was at this point last summer. I was still working, and going into the office. I’m glad we are having a brief respite from the SUPER HOT TEXAS SUMMER, because it’s definitely not fun when you are super pregnant! I’m not really sure how I got through the last few weeks, because I also have an older daughter to take care of. But you just do…you find the will and you do it.
I was induced with both my pregnancies. The first time, I got to 41.2 and my water broke, but I just would not dilate for anything. So they had to induce so she could come out! With the second, I was getting close to 40 weeks and it was the same story….my body would not dilate on its own. And baby was getting to be a very nice size (7+ lbs), so my OB wanted to schedule an induction on the day after her due date, and it went well. The second birth was waaaaayyyyy easier than the first, and I think part of that was having my own OB there, as opposed to the on-call doc with my first. He was decent, but I felt like my own OB was just more confident and in command of the situation.
Anyway. I hope your labor and delivery go well and that you have a great experience! It’s so super close….and then you’ll have this cute tiny being that screams a lot. 🙂 It’s a crazy, wonderful experience.
That dress is beautiful! It looks great on you!
What a beautiful color on you!!
My induction wasn’t bad, all things considered (went to 41+1, ugh), but with number 2, waiting for it to happen naturally did really alleviate my need for pain management meds. Incidentally, we did “other things” the morning she came, and I tend to think it helped, since she came about 6 hours later! Good luck, not long now!
