I am not wearing black. On my person anyway. Aren’t you proud? I an wearing a short skirt, however. Which I love, and plan on wearing a ton. Please take a moment to reflect on how far I’ve come. I haven’t even mentioned the fact that you can SEE MY KNEES yet. Except I just did.
I did choose to wear flats with this skirt because heels, either my Splendid wedges or clogs looked a little hoochie-mama to me. Even though I can not, under any circumstances, ever be mistaken for a hoochie-mama. I’ll admit, as a women of a certain age, wearing a short, tight skirt makes me a little nervous, so I wanted to temper it with sensible, manly shoes. And now I fit in perfectly with the Austin hipsters. Oh joy. π
How do you guys feel about women over a certain age wearing short skirts/shorts/etc.? If you’re a women of a certain age do YOU wear short skirts/shorts, etc? Of course, I am of the mind that anyone should wear whatever they want, but dressing myself personally is a different story…
And so ends my week of white tees, I’m glad I forced myself to pull some of the TWENTY that I own out again, but I’ll be wearing tank tops and sleeveless dresses this weekend, thank you. It’s too hot for sleeves π
Have a great weekend!!!!
I will be forty next mont and I wear short tight skirts and shorts all the time, the summer is hot in Madrid! I am size 44 european (12 ??) and I think as long as they are not really, really short I am fine with it. The only thought of wearing something long with this weather scares me…The thing is that I don’t think as me being a woman of certain age LOL
i don’t think of “us” as women of a certain age either, it was mostly a joke π
what is that anyway? i honestly don’t think age means anything, i guess i just, personally, have certain standards of dress in my head…
I do believe on dressing according to personality and lifestyle, not age…because people with the same age can be so different.
I really like that skirt on you!
The only time I frown at women “of a certain age” in short skirts is if the skirt is ultra short and ultra hoochie. But then I frown at young women wearing anything ultra short and ultra hoochie. I guess I just don’t like hoochie.
lol – i don’t like the hoochie either!
I really loved the week of white tees (it’s been a crazy busy week though and I haven’t had a chance to read/respond to your posts). I love this skirt and tee combo, although I wonder what it would look like with wedges or even your beloved clogs (maybe higher heeled, open toe, slingback clogs??)….Just a thought.
I won’t wear a skirt that lands above my knees…just personal preference at age 53…but I think that a woman should wear what makes her feel great. (with the exception of hoochie, of course!)
You should wear what’s comfortable for you, no matter your age. Unless of course you have terrible taste and then you should let other people dress you π
I don’t really like to wear short skirts because my legs are sensitive, especially my thighs, and I don’t like it when my bare skin touches things, so I just wear my short skirts with tights (of course that restricts me to the winter months here in NYC).
At 56 I don’t wear SHORT any more, if I ever did, but I do wear short. And my knees are my friends. As yours should be yours:).
haha! so true π
i love my knees; they support me.
