Yes, I’m wearing these jeans again. In fact, I’ve worn them 4 out of the last five days. I love them, I’m already thinking about how to get another pair…
And off topic, but clearly I need a new concealer, or a better concealer. Can you see that blue/gray spot near the corner of my right eye??? I am using Bobbi Brown concealer (not corrector) right now, but whoa, I look like I got punched in the eye. Any suggestions?? I like the consistency of the Bobbi Brown concealer, maybe I just need a darker color? Or do I need to add a corrector underneath?
Oh, and I trimmed my own bangs yesterday, can you tell? ๐
I think the are going to open a Massimo Dutti in New York, but I don’t know when. If you need any help in Madrid there are 19 shops : )
I really like erase paste and Boi-ing from Benefit for concealers.
Your bangs look good, you should see how crazy i look when i do mine, and I cut them all the time, I just can’t help it.
First off, let me say that those jeans are a BEST BUY!! You look long and lean in them. I’d wear them everyday, too, if they made me look that good! I’m still on the hunt–going to try some Paige’s (and hopefully find them at TJ Maxx!).
Second, the bangs look great. When I do my own, it looks like my mom cut them for me in 2nd grade (I wish I could find a picture for you–It’s traumatic!!).
And finally, as to the concealer, I would say it looks a little light to me, which could be because you just came back from Italy and got some sun, or you just need to be matched to a darker color. I’d try a step up from where you are now. (i.e. If you’re in “Sand” try “Warm Sand”) And you’re right, the addition of a corrector (probably “Light Bisque”) could make all the difference in the world. Pat, don’t rub, when applying it with a concealer brush (always a brush!!) and then layer the concealer on top of that and make SURE to finish with the “Pale Yellow” powder!! That’s very important in the 3 steps! I’m crazy in love with the new concealer formula, so if you don’t have that one, make someone match you up at the BB counter!! Hope that helps :- )
thanks! i actually have a small pot of erase paste, but i think i accidentally threw away the boi-ing concealers i had. i’ll try the erase paste again, when i first used it i thought it felt a little sticky…and was a little dark, but maybe that’s what i need now.
I’ve been using Make Up For Ever’s Lift Concealer for a while now, and I love it! I don’t know that I’d go darker with your concealer, personally. Here’s a link to the MUFE version if you want to try it: http://rstyle.me/e4ebbwcnse
Love those jeans! I trim my bangs alot too (they grow so fast…) and I can’t keep going to the salon just to have them trimmed. Yours look great!
I’ve been using Cle de Peau concealer for years and years. I love it! It’s creamy, but it has great coverage. A little pricey at around $68 a tube, but it lasts forever..at least a year.
Laura Mericer makes a great one, too. I love her “Secret Camouflage” compact with two blendable colors. (but not TOO creamy so it doesn’t slip)
I am a freelance makeup artist and I LOVE Lancome’s Effacernes concealer. It has a great consistency, is very easy to blend and is waterproof so it stays on all day. I apply it with a brush I never use a sponge, it wastes too much product. It works on all skin types and doesn’t accentuate dryness or fine lines.
And by the way the bangs look great!
I can personally vouch for Laura Mercier’s Secret Camouflage, but I also just used a new roll on under eye concealer by Garnier of all companies, and it’s awesome. I’ve used it places other than my eyes and it seems to cover nicely while still feeling pretty sheer. Plus it’s only like 14 bucks.
Love the jeans! You wear so many things that I always tell myself I can’t wear with my shape and I feel ridiculous in, but then I see them on you and they look so cute! Your Italian boots are another one of those things. One of these days I’m going to get up enough courage to wear a similar style I have w/tights and a skirt.
thanks for the LM suggestion – i have wanted to try it because i love her other stuff…
honestly, i NEVER thought i could wear this shape/style of jean either, but i was desperate to get a pair and decided “what the hell” and i was really happy with the way they looked! my husband did too, so that sealed the deal. i also never thought i’d be able to wear boots…!!! try it!! there’s no harm in trying, right? if you don’t like it, fine, but at least you tried!!
thanks!!
and another great suggestion…i never use a concealer brush, although i have one…
i think i’m going to grow my hair out (not my bangs), so i didn’t need a haircut and i feel bad getting more than one bang trim in between…so i decided to try. it wasn’t that bad, well, except for hair ALL in my eyes!! and i feel like i can keep them trimmed easier this way.
yay! thanks val, i knew you’d come through…
why do i need to use a brush for concealer? i have one, but i just always use my fourth fingers to pat the concealer on.
i’m using BB cool sand right now. good thing i didn’t buy more with my VIB 20% off at sephora. bad thing we didn’t have this conversation before it expired ๐
I totally agree with R, that a concealer brush is necessary to not waste product, for proper placement, and for just the right blendability!
i wonder if zara would have a similar pair? is everything made by the same company/manufacturer? maybe some styling is similar. otherwise, i’ll wait for one to open in NYC, or i’ll just have to grab another pair on my future world travels LOL
Sorry, Grechen–I didn’t see this before I commented below on the necessity of a concealer brush. Both “R” and I explain why you need one!! (and since you have one, all you have to do is use it!! lol… ๐
yes. i suppose i should use it! but after i use the brush, should i pat it with my finger? i feel like it will be streaky…
yes, definitely pat it. The brush will help you get right up underneath your lower lashes and in the inner corner of the eye where we all have darkness (at least most of us). then just pat and top with the pale yellow powder to blend it in with your skin and make it look natural and to make it last.
i never use the pale yellow powder either ๐
A lot of women are afraid that it’ll make their concealer look dry and cakey or that it will gravitate toward wrinkles, but actually, the opposite is true. It’s extremely fine milled and has Vit.E so it isn’t drying, it just smoothes everything out and blends it with your skin/foundation. Try it! (just dust it on a bit with a small brush, such as the “eye blender brush”)
Yes, it is. The company is called Inditex and has many brands, Massimo Dutti has the highest quality in the company and it’s more classic whereas Zara has more trendy items. Zara jeans are not as good as Massimo Dutti’s though. You can also have a look to Uterque in your future travels, http://www.uterque.com, it’s the accessories shop and has nice quality bags and shoes and also clothing.
